for those who dont know, the umbrella scene has more meaning than what you think. in asia, two people sharing an umbrella is a sign of true romance or love, thats why people that have feelings fo each other draw an umbrella with their names under it similar as what we do in the west with a heart and arrow. so they sharing the umbrella while high signifies they are "meant for each other". she still wanting to share the umbrella and he rejecting to do it (when he sobered up) signifies he is rejecting his true feelings or the realization of them, what makes him nervous and insecure because he had never had those feelings before. thats why he also ghost her right after.
edit: to answer some comments and to clarify: the writing your name under an umbrella drawing is a thing from japan, but the relation of "love" and umbrellas have ancient history in china (which has influenced many cultures in asia, like japan), specially the classic paper ones. they were usually offered as wedding gifts for good pregnancy, as dowry, etc. with time these practices stopped, but the love allegory sticked to this day. specially in literature and as a cinematic tool, more noticable in the show how i met your mother, and in this movie.
Thank you for teaching me something today.
Yes we should teach each other something everyday. It's a good thing to know about other cultures .
For some reason, I am asian and I’ve never heard of this being that culturally symbolic. Always thought of it as just pop culture/young people making up associations kind of thing
@@AD-lh3jk my family is asian i never heard of this
@@AD-lh3jk is something that developed from the paper umbrellas from china, whom has influenced many cultures in east asia. they were given as gifts related to marriage (as dowry, to have a good pregnancy, to have many children, etc.). with time this practice stopped, but the "love" allegory sticked.

You can if you sacrifice your whole life (by working hard) to buy what you really want
I see a lot of comments mentioning the "as long as you're rich you will literally always get your way." And I'm as cynical as the rest of you so I'm not going to deny that entirely. The entire plot of the movie depends on him being so wealthy that he can drive absurd plot points forward singlehandedly.
But if I were to be a romantic for a second, the love story works because he was the only person that could recognize and appreciate the full depths of her talent and skill. And yes, he had the money and power to bend the entire story around his insane appreciation of her talent.
Fact that they need to summarize a summary should let you know that you're not the target demographic for these videos. I just want a synopsis, let me draw my own conclusion. Some of these in-jokes annoy the hell out of me, but at least this channel is kinda funny.
"RICH MAN GET HIM WAY". What a revelation!
it was a joke. are you new here?
@@ezradlionel711 you should also already know you aren't the target demographic for the summary
This movie wasn’t creepy. The last scene, where he takes her to another apt. to watch the sunset, was meaningful. An old couple lived there years ago and their love made a huge impression on both of them. The older couple would sit every night, on the balcony, to watch the sunset. You have it wrong. The movie is about what money can’t buy. It’s a beautiful movie and I hope more people watch it. I loved it!
Yes, he wanted her to see the sunset. She had told him that she loves the sunset but can’t see it because of the location of her flat. When someone loves you, he wants you to be happy and will put effort to make what she wants happen.
@@heythave yes, so beautiful. Too long for me to add, but yes. I love that movie.
Pei
seems pretty creepy to me to give a stranger a watch with a built in gps?
They say money can't buy happiness, look at the man literally being a control freak over the girl like he owns her until the girl gives up. But it's okay as both are in love so money can indeed buy happiness.
People who say money cant buy happiness is either poor or in need for god's miracle
@@Secretxxx67 the point of the saying is that money isnt a garrentee to happyness
but im with you money just makes it so much easier many wealthy people fall into a trap of self indulgence pleasure without meaning it happens to kids born rich and there parents fail to teach them better it happens to new rich that dont have experience having so much money and spend it sll on whatever whim of fancy leaving them feeling hollow like there life has no meaning

I like the way he mentions moral of the story on every of his recaps...
I love to watch this movie as a child..especially that part where she serve the egg with squid ink...I think he only order one egg for the entire day and she cook an egg with different cooking styles and presentations each time...lastly, he interpret the last egg (egg with the squid ink) as a pleading sign of the chef to tell him to stop but if my memory is correct the chef actually still want to cook (so the man interpretation is wrong, I guess, I am not sure if my memory is correct)
The plot is literally
"The way to a man's heart is through his stomach".
True
And a way to a woman's heart is thru spending a wag ton of cash.

@@salmonn_gz7987 fr?
You got the wrong idea. Watch the whole movie and you will realize that this is a quirky love story between two unlikely people.
A billionaire buying an entire hotel because the food was so good. That sounds about right for real life, never mind the movies.
Over the course of the pandemic, the US has gained more than 1000 new billionaires. Meanwhile, tens of millions of children go to bed hungry every night, and homelessness as at record levels despite there being 16 empty and abandoned homes no one can afford for every homeless person in the country. We have created a new aristocracy, and we are all slaves.
Here comes the keyboard warriors!!!!!!
Sort of like Elon Musk trying yo buy Twitter because he doesn't like their policy on certain types of tweets.
He was already eyeing it for acquisition, he just spent more time in the place bec of the food but he was getting the hotel cheap so he was buying it already.
In the real life, we have a billionaire buying an entire social media just so he can shittalk freely
If she had actually somehow miraculously died in the suitcase, my man would have been imprisoned for a while, during which having to eat the food served would have made him to pass out.
Then he will buy the prison to change the cooks.
You know he can bail out right because his rich.
Oh-
the creepiness is so well shown in the final recap "The moral of the creepy story is as long as you're rich you will literally always get your way". Like i thought he was just using her to get the recipe XD
No, you have it wrong. Watch the whole movie.
this dude really sat there & 1 put a tracker on her, 2 over-worked her and 3 called her a coward for asking him to stop, 4 showed up to her place uninvited, 5-7 barges in and demands she cook for him in her time off with NO COMPENSATION, 8 has the audacity to sleep there, and then 9 begins to move himself in as if her place is his own personal hotel, 10 gives her the silent treatment after being embarrassed, 11 basically destroys her place of work, and then 12 stalks her to track her down, and I'm supposed to be happy they get together??
Don't forget he called her sexy, so they're even.
I mean if you saw the movie, you'd realize they both had feelings for each other, and you're just making shit up in your head to fit some sort of weird narrative, I can already tell you're the type of person to cancel anyone on twitter, the type of person to accuse first without some sort of evidence, in short a femcel, men and women tend to avoid "people" like you.
