I clicked your link to purchase this on Amazon and got it for $19.99 with Prime Day discount and $10 off. Very thorough review. My biggest issue is switching between phones and this is the only one that I saw that makes perfect sense... a button on the device! Love your review. I learned a lot about it and looking forward getting it setup in a couple of days. I learned that this is the 2024 model and the previous version only supports one phone. This is going to make my life so much easier because my partner and I travel a lot and she wants to play the music and control the maps!
Very thorough review and very relevant to us. We now have a Golf SV, barely 2 weeks and connecting via cable (tried various) is frustrating at best! Like the idea of switching between phones and remembering last used is ideal 4 us. There are occasions when I am waiting in the car so a YTube option would be good but does this only come with sim based units? Thanks again for your reviews👍
Amazing content. Fast question. I saw a few of the videos but right now I am little bit confused. I have iPhone 15 pro max. I just would like to know which adapter it is the best (I don’t care price) to see see TH-cam in the stock car ?
Not really, because this is the process of hard switching, regardless of using it for CP or AA. Others like the CarlinKit 3.0,4.0 etc, all do this via software, meaning you might still need manually turn BT on/off to switch correctly.
Hello Anthony, My car only supports Apple Car Play. Which device do you recommend to make it compatible with Android Auto. And do you have any tutorial on how to install? I have heard I can use an AI Box. Do you recommend one? Thanks
If you only need it for Android auto conversion then I would just settle for that. It will be faster than an AI Box, which do overcomplicate things and be twice the price. Check out CarlinKit 4.0 (not 5.0 that one works differently) th-cam.com/video/qsSFCDMMvR4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rYKdbxG69p5J32-9 and Ottocast U2-x Pro th-cam.com/video/nZHFpZEvuVU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cY2BvSgThL_uDcFJ
@@CarPlayLife Hi Anthony, follow-up on this question, I have a car that only supports Apple Car Play and need Android Auto conversion as well. But I'm also looking for an adapter or AI box that can easily switch between iPhone and Google Pixel. Any recs? Should I consider this adapter? I'm looking into the Ottocast MX Wireless as well.
No it won’t. You have two options really these days. 1. CarlinKit 4.0 - th-cam.com/video/qsSFCDMMvR4/w-d-xo.html Don’t think the 5.0 is a newer better option. It will not convert CP to AA, it will only do CP to CP wireless and AA to AA wireless directly. 2. An AI Box like this one - th-cam.com/video/JiwludIaCyI/w-d-xo.html - this is a relatively cheap AI Box that has a better AA wireless connection over some others that even cost more than this one.
Great video! really usfeull. I bought this device some days ago. It works perfect with carplay in my Iphone but I have not been able to connect it with android auto in my Samsung S23 Ultra. I paried the divice with the phone normaly but when it tries to launch the android auto in my car (VW T-Cross 2024) a error messege apears "Error: USB Conection" and restarts the volskwagen multimedia system. Do you know what can be the problem and the possible solution?
Sorry to hear you have had this issue. I don’t have this issue with my Google pixel 5, so I wonder if it’s a Samsung issue or something on the device you need to change. I assume the car system comes with Android auto, and it’s not just CarPlay? Also try checking the device for any updates. If there aren’t any tap the reset to factory settings option and connect the Android first before CarPlay.
@@CarPlayLife yes, the car system has Android auto. I'll try to reset the divice and connect my android phone first. If it doesn't work, I afraid I will have to ask the chance of the device.
I've had the Motorola MA1 for a few years now. The only issue I have is it disconnects at certain intersections that must have huge wifi interference. Would any of these newer devices perform better? How do the specs of the MA1 compare to the newer devices? We only use AA but being able to switch between our phones would be nice. Thanks!
If it’s a huge interference as you say, then I can see most boxes being knocked out by it. I never was able to get hold of an MA1 so I can’t compare, sorry. Newer tech has greatly improved things so there is hope that it will be better.
Hey, do you have an overall best adapter for wireless apple carplay? (fastest boot time, reliable and most responsive). I just bought an 2023 lexus is350 and it does not have wireless apple carplay support. Thanks!
If you're not accessing the link in the US, it will show something different because the product doesn't sell anywhere else than in the US. Hope this helps.
I just got one of these. Was using an MA1 but this works with my wife's iPhone as well. Anyway randomly 2-3 hours of car being off this thing is turning on and my phone connects. The MA1 didn't do this. Anyone else experience this?
Do you mean it has been off for 2-3 hours with car locked and getting in it connects to your phone and not your wife’s? It will connect to the last device used unless the button is pressed (when it’s powered)
I bought a GTE with an MIB1 pro with Jubebox, i recently found out that the previous owner installed an android device, but I'm not sure if it's a dongle or loaded software onto the MIB1. But when i long oress the Menu button, it takes me into the options of the android software with Carplay and Andoid Auto, but i can't get any audio sound. Is there a way i can send you the video i recorded to see the user interface terfade and you may help me find a solution as to why the audio wont play whwn it connects to AA but works fine when connected to the cars bluetooth. The Android sofatwsre looks pretty basic as well. Was thinking of pulling the facia off and seeing if there's a hidden dongle at the back.
Is the head unit an RCD330? Does it have usb ports on the front of it, like this www.themodclinic.co.uk/product/volkswagen-vw-rcd360-head-unit-apple-carplay-bluetooth-android-auto/9?cp=true&sa=true&sbp=false&q=false
Ok I don’t know much about that one. As long as you have the original cables at the back and you plan on keeping the car for a few more years, you could upgrade the box and screen to MIB2.5 + Discover Pro 9.2” I did it here th-cam.com/video/41kcOB77KL0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=j_ybDqpzNJMQquwc
Long story. But they basically decided not to pay any sale commission to us for over a year and they never return any replies. So I don’t recommend them any more, and that shows the kind of company they run. Plus there are much better wireless adapters out there now.
This only allows a WiFi connection for using wireless CarPlay or Android auto. It isn’t an AI box. You need to connect to BT first then it switches to WiFi.

Yes TH-cam on CarPlay display is only available via a closed or open Android OS box (AI Box).

Wifi ? Connect to wifi ?
This only allows a WiFi connection for using wireless CarPlay or Android auto. It isn’t an AI box. You need to connect to BT first then it switches to WiFi.
