Why do we compare? What does it mean to compare and do we compare ourselves also? If I compare myself with someone else who is better, then in comparing myself to that I become dull. Or if I am being compared with what should be, out of that starts a becoming what should be. And therefore fear I might not become that, struggle and frustrations when I am not that. Comparing is always between images, ideas, I have accumulated knowlegde and experience and out of that I have made my conclusion of what I think is the best, the highest. And then I start to compare myself and others with that image. So then there is a proces of becoming something, wich means there is a direction. Wich means pushing the notes in what I think is the best, that means that I know wich way they are going. And therefore it is not new. It means I have an image or idea and act from that, wich is limited, because knowlegde and experiences is limited. Is there an act wich is free of the past, wich has no direction, but is open to play with?
This is good. Comparing means one is not in the present, not really experiencing something in the moment. It is not unlike the tourist incessantly taking photographs and seeing nothing.
This is Part 1, 2 and 4 of the Five Pieces for 2 Violins and Piano by Shostakovich. Part 3 and 5 are very nice too - especially #5, very exciting, with a little "surprise" at the end!

@@guidobos44 A performer can be free , but the listening people are always judging and comparing.
Asian violinists ( Korea , Japan etc ) are very good .
In the Q. Elisabeth Competition 2019 the greater part are Asian violinists !
Good 👍
클라라 주미의 드레스 예쁘다
It’s a shame, my favourite is the Polka (the 5th duet)...

Чудесно! Волшебно!
❤😂 Dreamy...
I still find it hard to believe Shostakovich wrote this. Just cause this is so not what we’re used to seeing him write
Then you don't know Shostakovich well, he wrote many such pieces
4:30 how is this one called ? Thanks !!
