    Been more than forty years since I saw this line. Thanks for the memories.

    Thank you so for this. A few years ago on a coach holiday one of the highlights was this journey but it was completely spoiled by two couples who were obviously not interested in the view and spent the whole journey loudly shouting and laughing.

    I do like these cab rides but with engine sound it would be so much better to watch .

      The Kyle and Wick/ Thurso lines from Inverness are controlled by the Radio Electronic Token Block signalling system. Because the system involves frequent voice calls between signaller and drivers over the radio the film is silent to safeguard security.

    Great video, thanks. The weather can change quickly up there in Scotland. Wonderful views of the countryside. Shame that the way to Skye is now mainly by road.

    Been awaiting this route for years - all the way to Inverness maybe one day? Thank you very much!

      The whole line was recorded, that was just a wee snip!!

    Wonderful views not spoiled by trees running wild like on the West Highland line. Although Scot Rail could be given some chivviing to get on with some pruning before nature takes over completely as on the WHL. Lovely video. Thanks. Rmb

    I now have the perfect video to get to sleep! This isn't a criticism, I'm an insomniac and your vids do the job. Thanx
    Someone mentioned music, something like Enya would be excellent.

    Great video, wonderful scenery. Wonder how all those cuttings survived until geotextiles were invented.

    • @ChangesOneTim
      @ChangesOneTim 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some cuttings would not have remained stable for much longer without them! Shows that these lines do get investment - and that in the aftermath of the Carmont derailment earthworks stability is being taken more seriously.

    Beautiful ride, but if the orange plants are like a Goldenrod, it’s name should be the ALLERGY EXPRESS !! LOL !!

    lovely video, beautiful scenery, but a bit of sound on, either the sound of the train, or music, would be much better. Please.

      There's no sound anyway. Turned it off - no good without sound.

      That's Thomas's point. He mutes the sound. Because this one is mute, he doesn't have to, and he isn't missing anything.
      I don't usually mute the sound. But that means any ad that breaks in is very loud and very annoying. Because this one has no sound, I can mute it and I know I won't miss anything---and I won't be annoyed by loud ads.

    Is it me? Or are the points at 48:28 set against the line this train is on? Confused 🤔

    • @eckiedoo
      @eckiedoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are right, they are set against the movement. They are hydro-pneumatic, self restoring points on all of the loops. So when the trains travels over them, they get pushed across then self restore.

      Thanks for the explanation

    • @brianligat9493
      @brianligat9493 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Quite common on remote single-track routes. And at 43:27 they are sprung to be set for the approaching train to go left. A train going in the opposite direction would temporarily push them aside. without the need for levers or remote control.
