  • Let's try this again, re-uploaded due to a few mistakes that were no seen. A real treat to travel on yet another Transport for Wales service, this time we sample the route from Wolverhampton to Chester via Shrewsbury. We shall be travelling on lines built by the GWR.
    We cross the boarder at Chirk into Wales before re-entering England north of Wrexham to arrive at Chester. The train will then continue to Holyhead. This fascinating driver's eye view was filmed on board a Class 158 DMU in the summer of 2022 with the trackside shots being filmed around early 2023. As per usual there is narration including the history of the line and captions of the junction names and tunnels, and just as a bonus some have been translated into Welsh.
    Your contribution to the channel is also welcome so please like, comment and subscribe and stay tune for more driver's eye views being released over the year. All that is left now is for you to sit back, relax and enjoy this driver's eye view all the way to Chester from Wolverhampton.

    I really enjoy my trips on Transport for Wales trains as they carry their passengers through idyllic country and the speed they maintain is a constant steady pace. The commentary is useful too and the young gentleman concerned has an abundance of knowledge of the local history and dates of when stations were first constructed plus other interesting facts. Very informative indeed and a pleasure to listen to his remarks.

    Another excellent entertaining and informative presentation, and well done with the Welsh pronunciation, there are some right old tongue twisters there.

    Really glad to see this one, I lived in Wrexham until 1969 and my grandfather worked at Croes Newydd depot, south of Wrexham station in the triangle. A good summary of all the lines that existed in that area.

    Excellent video, thank you. Perhaps a camera with a higher definition would give better clarity, especially at speed, and an improved stabiliser? These are not expensive. And maybe a rag for the driver to wipe the windscreen at 80mph, when the flies get too thick??!

    What does mean "down passenger" (DP) seen at a signal ?

    • @BobC250
      @BobC250 หลายเดือนก่อน

      'Down' means the line direction is "away from London". ('Up' lines are those that head in the direction of London - roughly, it's a little more odd for east to west lines!). 'Passenger' means it's a passenger line/track, where there are other freight lines/tracks on the same route.

      Depends on where you get on as the train reverses at Shrewsbury. It's best to ask or go by indications. You will be advised if you are in the wrong section at the ticket check stage, so you can move then or wait til arrival when you normally have adequate time

    Yes, enjoyed it . Beeching closing down Stations etc got some stick, and STILL does, BUT, we Working class were getting our own mode of Transport i.e. Honda 50s , and just forgot BR so it was costing us, taxpayers Millions to keep some little Station in Wales open, prob. used by 30 folk a week. !!!!!!!!!
