  • Why Real Madrid and Barcelona Are Fading Away?
Spain has dominated football so much since the turn of the century. In every year between 2008 and 2012, a Spanish football club or the Spain national team ended up winning one of the major footballing trophies. During this period of 4 years, Spanish teams and the national team won 2 Euros, 2 Champions Leagues, and 1 World Cup. They were really on top of the world.
And as expected, because of how dominant they were, the Spanish league attracted the best players in the world. As at 2009, La Liga could boast of having Kaka, Benzema, Higuain, Aguero, Henry, Xavi, Ibrahimovic, Raul, Iniesta, and of course, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Back then, when El Clasico came on, the entire world stood still - it was the apex of club football. Absolutely nothing came close.
But fast forward to the present, and it’s a completely different tale. Apart from Madrid and Barcelona fans, hardly anybody is really concerned about the Clasico these days. In Europe, things have also gotten really bad. In the Champions League this season, only one Spanish team managed to make it out of their group.
And it was a similar story in the 2020-21 season. Spain also had just one representative in the quarter finals. This is a completely different story from what was the case in the 10 years between 2008 and 2018. During this period, Spanish clubs made it to the final in 7 years, 5 of them coming in back-to-back years between 2013 and 2018.
In fact, in 2 of those years, two Spanish clubs went head-to-head in the final. That’s the quality we were used to back then, but all that is fast fading away. So, it begs the question, why is Spanish football fading away?

They already are. They're not talking about the strength of the team. Both barca and Rm are obviously going to be one of the best teams forever. @@akhsdenlew1861 You don't get it, do you. What makes la liga so weak is the quality and inbalance between the clubs. They focus mainly on the best clubs, and the rest of the clubs don't get enough to spend. Not to mention, less and less people are watching la liga. I'm not saying all the clubs aren't strong, its the league that horrendously bad. In the PL, its a lot more even. Top teams often lose to the worst teams, whereas in other leagues it's less common. PL is also a lot more physical, making it a golden standard of whether or not a player can survive in it, due to it being the hardest league, as most players have said themselves. Teams in the league are also given much more even treatment and benefits, allowing them to spend much more. Also, majority of people watch the PL, not other leagues. No matter how you'd like to spin it, La liga currently, is terrible down to the core.

I really like the athletic club fans they give me chills, betis, sevilla, osasuna have had major improvements in terms of filling their stadiums. there is just bad publicity around la liga at the moment and mostly because of barca slump in european competition but i think the moment they start getting into uefa semis together with both madrid teams, no one will question the quality in la liga.

I generally don't think any of those teams are fading away, sure it just isn't the same as it was, but if you take a look at the Real Madrid back when the first won a UCL, they won 6 in a row, but it took so many years just to win it once again, but as we all know, Madrid made a massive comeback by winning 5 ucl's within 8 years, including Barcelona when they manage to win 4 UCL's in this era. These 2 can make a comeback whenever they want, they both have insanely exciting talents and so much rumours signing many more amazing talents, you just simply can't compare these 2 clubs to any other, they're revolutionary and can make a comeback.

La liga is a solid league. Yes they have Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Athletico Madrid. They also have a solid second tier of clubs in Bilbao, Villarreal, Real Betis, and Real Soeidad.
They might not be on the level of the Premier League, Serie A, or even the Bundesliga at the moment, but La Liga is still an elite league at the end of the day.

Players from these clubs, Raul, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Etoo, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema etc were all picking up Balon d'ors, Fifa best and other wards, best scorer etc. I appreciate the other leagues, many claim the English premier League is the best but when we look at results on the European and world stage, they still have so much work to do.

Real Madrid was considered dead by many in 2019.
In 2022 they won the Champions League, they rebuilt their team with many youngsters (Vini, Rodrygo, Fede Valverde, Camavinga, Bellingham ...) and Benzema won the Ballon D'or.
Sevilla (in a relegation battle) kicked out Manchester United from the Europa League.
Barcelona has the best defense of any team. They have many young players and are rebuilding their team like Real Madrid did during 2019-2022. What many people don't see is money doesn't make good teams. Chelsea is a great example. It will be as always: La Liga clubs will buy promising unknown talents, win many european titles with them. Smaller La Liga clubs will then sell them for a big fee to Premier League clubs. The British top club will give the player 4 times as much wages as the Spanish club for the same player. He makes some good games, until he is very bad after a few months, sits on the bench and is sold back for a small sum to a smaller Spanish club where he will win the Europa League, winning against clubs like Manchester United etc.

we don't talk current man utd. even when la liga still dominating it's already falling down. 2022 real madrid was great but their competitors. yes, club like man utd, chelsea, psg can't build their team but man city is their biggest competitor even liverpool and chelsea still hard to defeat. and barca also rebuild team but even they fall to europe league. late 2000s-mid 2010s are truly the best era of football in 21st century more than serie a last domination

It is all about marketing. PL always being marketed as best league in the world, but when playing in European stage, they got bullied by Spanish teams most of the times.
And ironically, Man City and Liverpool have been making PL as another farmer league for the past few years. So, nothing much different with Spanish league at all.

LA liga is not fading, WE still have the best players in the world only Oil is trying hard nowadays, but Still winning and kicking ass, English language is helping Premier League to use some stupid Marketing tools that only new gen of football fans get tricked by it. LA LIGA by FAR Better, the level of play intelligence is HIGH LEVEL. Pep Guardiola, Lopetigue, Unai Emery, Arteta, Rubén Sellés from Southampton and Gracia in Leeds, are all Coaches in Premier League RIGHT NOW 6/20 Teams.
BUT WE STILL Win in Europe because we are better even our fans are smarter and more demanding we don't clap our teams when they lose , we Boo them that's called High Standards.
Playing among Sevilla, Betis, Ath Bilbao, Real Sociedad, Espanol, Barcelona, Valencia, Villareal, Osasuna, Celta Vigo, Atl Madrid, Real Madrid and Rayo Vellecano every year is Really Really Difficult. I Have more to say but I m tired of writing.

Haaland is not going to La Liga any time soon, and even if he does , I highly believe he will go to Barcelona instead of Madrid. THAT IS IF THEY HAVE THE MONEY. But imo , he'll stay at premier league because Man City is basically his home.
Cr7 Jr and Messi's sons are a great potential to look after but just because they are the children of Legends doesnt mean they will be great like them.

The Spanish league was always much better than the English league. Currently the English league is much richer due to good management and sale of television rights. To the purchase of English clubs by oil-rich countries. However, they have needed to spend 5 or 6 times more than the Spanish clubs to try to catch up and even so they have not achieved it. Investment has dropped a lot in the Premier League this year and the bubble may burst. I consider it a failure that in this period of time in which Chelsea and Man City have invested enormous amounts of money they have barely had any success. Especially if we compare it with Clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona, although they have been greatly affected by the global crisis and have invested in new stadiums. All this without the help of petrodollars. An example in the management of Florentino Pérez, who presides over a Club that is still a member club. There is no investment from other countries or from the Spanish state. If there was a good manager like Florentino Pérez in the Spanish league... no English club would win the UCL again in a thousand years. Without Spanish players and coaches the English league would be uninteresting. Guardiola has revolutionized English football. Perhaps it is what has made football advance the most in that country. That new style of play of midfield control and intelligence. Against the old and direct English football...of headless chickens.
