    Hello Dr Oehme,
My partner Fiona and I live up in Brisbane, she has, Central disc protrusions affecting L4/L5 and L5/S1 discs.
The central L4/L5 disc protrusion is minimally changed in size from
previous, but is associated with increased T2 signal consistent with
progressive annular fissuring. The L4/L5 disc protrusion impresses the
thecal sac and potentially irritates the forming right L5 nerve root in the
lateral recess. Only back pain, this report was dated on 2021-11-09 09:29.
About a month ago the back pain returned only this time with chronic back and leg pain.
We are with health cover since last September, naturally there is a waiting period for surgery which she needs. As she is bed-bound and struggles to go to toilet and heavily medicated.
Our concern is since the MRI report back on the 11/09/2021 and our latest MRI report a few weeks back, is if this would be considered pre-existing condition? Or would it be seen as a new condition due to not having the leg pain? Much appropriated in advance. Greg

Sir, I'm 21 years old (male), i had L5 S1 lumbar disectomy 6 months ago, i was a boxer and did weightlifting too, i don't feel pain (although sitting, standing or walking for too long causes pain in leg and spine muscles which forces me to lie down ASAP) and i live with all the precautions so could i start my exercise and workouts slowly. Or should i wait for some more months or years?
