The panel that flings you into "The Part Where He Kills You" is still an Aerial Faith Plate like this. But that's the only one I saw that is still like this.
LB Yeah. It was a very early beta combined from portal 1 and with newly added things. It was made just to create these video just in time for the teasers.
"Well, have fun soaring through the air without a care in the world. **I** have to go to the wing that was made entirely of glass and pick up fifteen acres of broken glass. _By myself.”_
"Hey, Cave Johnson here. I decided to make a couch that propells people up in the air for a funny prank. Good news is that it made me laugh harder than I've ever laughed before. Bad news is I have no more friends..."
I wouldn't say we NEED a Portal 3, since Portal 2 wrapped up the story pretty nicely, but maybe having something like a prequel game would be cool. Maybe even in VR!
I love how you try to make puzzles that can be easy and hard at the same time. I love doing all your puzzles. I just hope you have some puzzles in Portal 2 (maybe exclusively in the advanced section of the menu) that are REALLY hard.
i can tell you're a minecraft player already through a simple line of logic. let me tell you the difference between textures and models. textures are colors on the models, and models are the actual 3D design. Alot of people who use minecraft texture packs make simple oopsies like this, but good sir, the actual *model* for the faith plate has changed.
@@Conman9310 Whats the reason children shouldn't be on the internet? I understand in this case that this person is incorrect, but you have no evidence they are a child. Even if they are, not every child doesn't know the difference between textures and models.
@@rogerphone481 I was most likely being hyperbolic. No idea what was going through my mind almost 3 years ago when i posted that, i guess i had a habit of being really pissy when people had misconceptions about game development?
I wish that portal was freeware when they released it as a standalone game, I want it so I can get portal 2 with out feeling like there is something missing. Also when the lab is in a tropical state, I feel like it will be more relaxing to play through than with just white walls, white floor, white, EVERYTHING.
@LordofSmite Yes, presumably the boots dissipate the energy of impact in the form of heat and sound, when they bend. This would of course occur when anything exerted force on them, not just gravity. But perhaps they are kept in a locked mode except when falling due to gravity? :D
@LordofSmite the platforms thrust is made after you land on it the boots make it when you land it breaks your fall and drops your speed. Platform start their speed again after you land on them because your weight triggers some code to launch you
@LordofSmite I think the upward thrusts is applied to your entire body at the same time, while the impact from falling would start in the part you land on.
@iMaGProD i agree, i wasnt expecting any of this for portal 2, its looks AWESOME, im definitely pre ordering this game, and if theres a special edition, im getting it
@Thunderchin Also, how would you communicate to someone you are playing with online? Mics are basically essential in online co-op and if you can't talk to someone, expect to spend a LONG time on puzzles.
@jhtilly The world cup is going on right now in South Africa. That sound comes from a South African instrument called a Vuvuzela. If you watch the world cup on TV you can hear people playing it throughout the game.
@MetroidEscapes I agree, in Portal 1 it was just .. portals, and what do we have now? Arial Faith Plates, Super vacuums, Speed-gel and a crapload more. I don't think I can finish a level without trying out everything.
@tikizip That's because this is an early iteration. You should see how the portals first looked in the original portal trailers. And they hadn't even made Chell yet. They used a male placeholder. And they used the gravity gun model and crosshair.
@LordofSmite OH GOD NOTHING. Explanation: The long-fall boots don't absorb aceleration neither deceleration. They prevent damage from shock from being dealt to the test subjects when falling (brutal deceleration) or being fling by one of these aerial faith plates (brutal aceleration). They prevent damage caused by aceleration, not the velocity change it means.
The panel that flings you into "The Part Where He Kills You" is still an Aerial Faith Plate like this. But that's the only one I saw that is still like this.
Shane's K-Pop Videos Crap i just commented that lol
There's also one in the co-op campaign

Wow, that map sure changed a lot in the final build.
You can see this was also made on the old engine build, as the water reflections were still new and were not fixed during the teasers.
And it has a Portal 1 style fizzler at the end, haha
LB Yeah. It was a very early beta combined from portal 1 and with newly added things. It was made just to create these video just in time for the teasers.
Isn't this a map from Co-op
no its the original one where trash flies over the faith plates including a radio... you're thinking of the iron grip map

Try to avoid all the garbage hurtling towards you
Do not test with the garbage, its just garbage
Remember when I was talking about smelling garbage standing around being useless? I was actually talking about you
Smooth.
Agree, best 2010 animation
Oh. 1.0 Advanced Faith Plates.
yeah
1 Aerial Faith Plates have changed
2 Cubes now Light up Orange when placed on a Button.
3 Material Emancipation Grills also changed.
Oh ew yeah i just noticed the cube didn’t light up
SUPER BUTTON
I want one for my couch. It would be the ultimate prank. "Hey, Bob. Come sit on my couch. OHH! You're through the ceiling." XD hahahaha

The aerial faith plate is sending out a distress signal. You broke it, didn't you?
That cube's landing couldn't of been more perfect.
finally someone talk about it!
Hard to believe it's been 11 years now... where did time go?! We really need a Portal 3.
I wouldn't say we NEED a Portal 3, since Portal 2 wrapped up the story pretty nicely, but maybe having something like a prequel game would be cool. Maybe even in VR!
That trickshot though
Well, this level element looks simple. Great job on making a simple yet unique part.
that skill
The lighting on this map is delicious.
Man, that Portal 2 trailer song is getting stuck in my head. I wish I could hear the full version...
Good news my dude from 13 years ago, now you can! (It's called Reconstructing More Science and it's in the Portal 2 OST if you don't know)
I love how you try to make puzzles that can be easy and hard at the same time. I love doing all your puzzles. I just hope you have some puzzles in Portal 2 (maybe exclusively in the advanced section of the menu) that are REALLY hard.

Portal
Test Chamber 12 (I Think)
"this is some shonky business right there!" - Sniper Team Fortress 2
that was just.....BEAUTIFUL!!! it was so fluid.
Fantastic graphic improvements with the gloop! Reflections in it as well!
You can hear a stock Hammer door noise at about 0:20.
Qwerbey lol
I think that's the noise the beta faithplates made when returning back down
@@commodore7331 It could be that they used it for that too, but I know that this sound dates back to Half-Life 2, under "sound/doors/default_move.wav"
Hmm... This plate must not be calibrated to someone of your generous...ness.
I'll just add a few zeros to the Maximum weight.
(That's the right one)
That looks hella fun! :D
I love how right at the end the cube lands perfectly on the button well done :-P hehe

Did anyone notice the core in the animation in the beggining
All of these comments are ancient
Now that looks really epic.
FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
That's so bloody awesome!
Off the mcdonalds to shaq off lebrons forehead behind the back nothin but net.
I like how Chell looks back at what she just accomplished thinking, "Piece of cake....wait a second....oh god dammit."
That was sooooooooo cool!
Really amazing :O
I love the new sounds that they added.
I like the sounds :3
Those are some EPIC ninja moves.
I love how the cube lands exactly on the button.
this is gonna get challenging...I LOVE IT ^_^
THIS IS SO EPIC!!!
ooh thats so cool man cant wait untill it comes out!!
This looks so fun!
i love how in the cube like slamdunks onto the button
I hope that tune plays whenever you beat a chamber in the full game.
the toxic goo looks so good
imagine how intense portal will get when they mix, this bouncy thing, with the gels, and the sucky tube thing and portals and stuff.
Wow looks like a hard yet awesome level
That was some fancy portaling.
that was really amazing.
Nice shot! :D
Looks like serious fun!
the portal gun looks clean
Holy shit that was awesome.
omg cant wait for it to come out!!
dude I when the guy looks back at the chamber he must be like "wow I rock"
Gotta love the soundtrack
that looks fun!!! cant wait to get it for ps3
10/10, would (and will) watch again.
Yes.
awesome!
And to think it would take me about an hour just to figure this level out...*sniff*
THIS IS GONNA BE FUN!
Funny that the aerial faith plate got a redesign among other things such as:
Button,
Cube,
Core design,
Cube Dropper,
Turrets,
Tubes and etc.
The water looks amazing. I am really looking forward to Portal 2.
I just NEED this

I'm really considering the idea of a Portal thematic park :D
I love the catchy intro jingle. xD
Graphics are sick! cant wait to play this on my new machine
this game is gonna b sick. and i love the new music btw!!

That last Plate looked as if it would not be able to launch both the cube and her, but I have faith in it now!
looks good

i still find it funny how Chel (if thats the characters name) doesnt break her legs whilst doing that
@TheMassAnnoyance
But it really gets you pumped for the game doesn't it?!?!!?
@LordofSmite the platforms thrust is made after you land on it the boots make it when you land it breaks your fall and drops your speed. Platform start their speed again after you land on them because your weight triggers some code to launch you
@SWATxChaoSx I think it's a measurement of pressure, since that is usually measured in pounds per square inch or square foot.
@LordofSmite I think the upward thrusts is applied to your entire body at the same time, while the impact from falling would start in the part you land on.
Can't Wait :3

@Thunderchin Also, how would you communicate to someone you are playing with online? Mics are basically essential in online co-op and if you can't talk to someone, expect to spend a LONG time on puzzles.
I wonder how many tries it took for the cube to land perfectly on the button, because that made the vid like, 20 times more awesome.
That was a nice ending
I got all the way to test chamber 18 in Portal with only a laptop touchpad.
@jhtilly The world cup is going on right now in South Africa. That sound comes from a South African instrument called a Vuvuzela. If you watch the world cup on TV you can hear people playing it throughout the game.
Once again Valve throughly succeeds in making the a world in which physic play a big part

I agree, in Portal 1 it was just .. portals, and what do we have now? Arial Faith Plates, Super vacuums, Speed-gel and a crapload more. I don't think I can finish a level without trying out everything.
@LordofSmite They do absorb the damage that might be inflicted, but they don't change the upward momentum the aerial faith plate creates
Cool
@tikizip That's because this is an early iteration. You should see how the portals first looked in the original portal trailers. And they hadn't even made Chell yet. They used a male placeholder. And they used the gravity gun model and crosshair.

Hah! That was cool!
wow that seems a little difficult... cant wait to try it when i get the game!
