    I have advice from several piano teachers that Moulin de Ville is one of the best ways to learn a good "method" of piano playing. I've started on the first five, and have started transposing them into other keys. La Candeur is a pentatonic study, Arabesque is minor and La Petite Réunion is a study in thirds.
    The measure that Robert talked about the G and the F sharp is a vi half diminished chord that becomes fully diminished. I had played it wrong since I hadn't paid attention to the held half notes. That will be corrected next time I'm at the piano.

    Hi Robert, I feel I also need to write some words of thank you for these videos.
    I'm 42 and I've been practicing just for some months now; a pianist friend recommended first to study the Candeur, then la Chasse, and now I'm with Ballade.
    Your videos are not only inspirational, but I keep coming back to re-watch them whenever I'm stuck in problems or doubts or I just want to keep improving my understanding of piano.
    I did search youtube quite a lot trying to find pianists playing these pieces, I must say that one of the factors I really like your videos is that I find that your self confessed passion for these pieces translates into how well you play them. I find that quite inspirational and helps in those days when 'nothing seems to work' and you just need to keep pushing.
    Please keep going and amazing work!

    Hi Robert! I would like to take this todays opportunity to send you a great 'Thank you' for all the videos you did here on youtube. I am a 62 years old beginner from Germany and have been starting learning piano in October 2019. Have seen many of tutorials here on TH-cam and do a self-learning which runs quite well. I do not want to become a piano-player in Carnegy-Hall but only for to play some nice stuff of Bergmuller. My goal is playing Chevaleresque of Bergmueller. But I suppose this is for me a 'Long way to Dipperary'. As a beginner. But I work hard on it. And..... taking your lessons. Best regards from Germany, Andreas

    I love the idea of weight as a breath or an violon bow. But... Too much rubato for my taste, I prefer something simplier and with more direction, not so "cut". I think expression is in the dynamic, not in the speed changes

    Master, your way of explaining the importance of arm weight is very nice, I learned it many years ago and it is of great help to achieve the desired sound with good technique, the piano keyboard is too wide to do without. Thank you.

    Pourquoi ces accélérations et décélérations ? C'est le volume sonore et non la vitesse qui doivent varier ? Pourquoi jouer de manière aussi hachée ?

    • @MrMyneworld
      @MrMyneworld 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok, you're right, but i think it's not important in front of everything he teaches about these pieces. Also, he may have taken some liberty in phrasing. It is my impression.

    Instead of using "the weight of the arm" concept, I show my students how fast or slow fingers drop to create dynamic differences. As a result, they don't have to worry about making the wrist stiff. My last piano teacher of the University of South Dakota of many years ago taught me to let my fingers do the work. She never used the concept "the weight of the arm".
