I can’t believe how parallel lives can occur. Today I woke up, did laundry and hung it on the line, stewed rhubarb, which is our first fruit, headed out to see friends, whose son died three years ago today, went to a community event, and then came home and worked in the garden. we really are all connected in this world. Thank you for making the world a better place. Love from 🇨🇦 Canada .
Oh what an absolute gorgeous video. I’m old and was feeling tired this morning but after watching you I’m energized. Everything you do is soooo classy and beautiful. ♥️
You are such a generous soul. Very few TH-camrs give out locations of where they shop & get really nice things. It’s people like you who will always thrive & do well in every aspect of your life. Thank you for being this person to all who come in contact with you. God bless. Hope to meet you one day in my travels.
What a lovely, peaceful video! From the clothes hanging on the line, to the cooking, to the lovely brocante in the national park, it was all just peaceful and lovely, You've surely have made such a great life for yourselves and are so generous with your guests. The cottage is looking terrific, and the kitchen floor is going to be just perfect! Thanks for sharing with us.
Always beautifully serene and pleasantly cozy, no matter what you present. Love the new grout color, too. The vintage shop is simply amazing, too! Thank you for all your inspiring inspirations🤍 Enjoy a lovely weekend to you both🌿
As always, your photography is beautiful. The sky, the hillsides, the clouds and even the cows are so pretty there! I laugh at how curious the white cows are, staring and watching you so intensely . Once again I have to say I could happily live my life out in your little guest house. Thanks for the Brochante info. I could spend full days at that second one❤❤❤
Beautiful video. We live in a very small village in New England in the United States. It is very different in so many way, but surprisingly similar in the countryside. This was a lovely reminder that you can live simply and beautifully right where you are. I'm working on many home projects right now myself. As much as I want them done, this reminded me that there is beauty in the process. It is the journey, not the destination that truly counts.
Hi from Canada…the “quiet” of your videos and the calm undertones that run throughout are such a pleasure. Thank you for giving me a glimpse into your world🤩
Bonjour Marloes, your countryside is just beautiful. I love going to the Brocante's with you, they were very lovely, thank you for taking us along. Looking forward to seeing the finished tiles.
Another lovely, peaceful, beautiful video. Thank you so much . I’m looking forward to seeing your kitchen! The Brocante’s are fascinating. I could get lost in them for hours.
Oh geez...what a lovely day in the neighborhood! I think my house would become brocante'd to death after a while...so much to buy! Anyways...thanks again for the panorama! And the food. 😊
The production quality of your videos is professional or better. Every minutiae comes to vibrant life! Watching you celebrate your daily activities - reminds me to celebrate mine. Peeling and chopping an onion, whisking an egg, delivering just the right floor tiles (well, not that exactly). You know what I’m saying. Thank you for impacting so positively - your little corner of the world - that now includes me. ❤
OMG, I just found your channel and it is fabulous!! All my very favorite things!! Antique hunting, France and driving/sightseeing through the countryside/villages. I would have bought a full truck of goodies from that shop. It is magical riding in the car seeing everything I long to see first hand. I love the way you film your daily lives and I find it so interesting and inspiring to live there through your family! I now must go watch ALL your videos. Thank you so much from Canada!!
Burgundy in May is so lovely! The flowers blooming around your home are glorious. I particularly like the irises! The Cook’s Cottage looks so warm and welcoming. A stay there remains on my bucket list!
At first I thought Olaf was making something “artistic “ with the broken tiles lol … you are both perfectionists . I could have spent a week in that brocante what treasure house.
Quel bel endroit, ce calme verdoyant me pousse à m’y rendre pour la 1ère fois de ma vie, ce n’est pas si éloigné de Lyon où je vis. Merci beaucoup de nous le faire découvrir et de le partager ;-) Philippe
I am amazed how you choose the loveliest places to go and the drive to these places is beautiful. I think I could and would spend days in brocantes. Thank you for taking us along. ❤
Those cows always crack me up. They look like they are interested in what is happening and checking you out. Finally I ordered your book and reading it this weekend is my treat! I have the zucchini in oven with chicken thighs now.
Finishing up on my patio and potting up herbs and flowers this weekend in Western Oregon. Turned a bit chilly or I would be out there now. You are so inspiring🌹
I’m so happy to see your progress and how beautiful your home and surroundings are!!! Thank you so much!! wish you would identify what you are picking and cooking!!!! I have your cookbook and I’m trying to Learn everything! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
It was stinging nettle! Sorry I was assuming people would know given the fact that I used a plastic bag which was very inconvenient but I couldn’t pick them all with my bare hands as they were close together and I would get stung
Thanks for the lovely video in the midst of your busy life. Oh those Brocantes, so beautiful, the first one in particular really grabbed my heart strings. I could almost smell it! (In a good way). We are finally getting back to France next week after two difficult years, I’m jumping out of my skin. Thanks for keeping my “French connection” alive while I’ve been away ❤
Oh, wat is de lente mooi bij jullie Marloes. I recently shared your channel with a Dutch cousin, who lives in California. He would love to live in France but he married an American girl. Her work is here. I married my late Canadian husband who lived here in California. So we just talk about Frankrijk and watch you . Thank you for being there.! Loved the Brocante. Ik zag veel leuke dingen btw. Most of all your green spring !🙏💕🌷🇳🇱
As if it had to be this way, while watching this episode I see your visit to the brocante of the Dutch couple.... In a week we will be staying across the street at a campsite Le petit Montperroux. Thank you for your tip, we are going to really enjoy this beautiful region..
It's really nice to see you and Olaf sit down to a meal together...the guy works hard trying to get everything done in the way I feel you want....as they say here in the States "Happy wife, happy life"....I think you are a perfectionist, living in France I got used to the old dark red tomettes, and sometimes I felt they made a place look very dreary because just like England, France has a lot of overcast skies for many months of the year. I prefer wood floors myself. The color you chose is super different, don't remember seeing that often at all. I feel it's going to come out really beautiful, light and airy and stand out because it's not the old traditional dark red. I liked the brocante places you stopped to visit, the first one was very nice, but the second one certainly stood out in that it had so much to offer! I hope the grout meets your expectations, but I was wondering can't the company ship you samples so you don't have to drive so much? I guess I'm just used to Lowe's or the Home Depot shipping everything to my place, if I can get it by mail, I don't even bother going to the stores anymore.....LOL!
Thanks! The color of the tomettes depends on the sand that is used which is red in our area and I don’t always like them that much either. Also the finished look depends on the treatment that can make them shinier and deeper in color. We are going to tone the colors down a bit as I like that more. And yes Olav is a magician who manages to make things exactly as I imagined plus he has great suggestions and ideas that I use for the designs. In return for him working his butt off to have a happy life 😂 I respect his need for precision and his perfectionism which make things take longer but I know he loves being able to do things his way and on his terms and I can only appreciate that in him. Thank you for seeing that and giving him credit ❤️🙏
@@FrenchCountryLife I hope you will never take anything I say the wrong way because I absolutely love your channel. I lived in Paris (you were right there, in my very old neighborhood in Les Halles, on Rue Rambuteau not long ago) the block has changed & become upscale, it sure wasn't like that when I lived there. There was no signage in English. Later on we moved down south to Ramatuelle and that was just a very beautiful area, so close to the beach and also the vineyards. You're very courageous to chase your dreams, not many people do & then one day you find yourself old & gray & wishing this & that. This is part of the magic of your channel, you did it and with family to boot, and so far seems to be so good & the rest of us green with envy. I do believe you are someone with a vision in everything you do & I can already see how wonderful this place will turn out to be. There are no good men left really (at least here in the States) only psychos & the rest of us who see Olaf and how he works & his skills is another reason to watch your channel and hope & pray that all us single ladies will have a chance sometime to meet a fellow like him. You are very talented & very forward thinking & your channel is always a delight to watch!
Hi Marloes hope doing well love the brocantes such lovely and inviting place to enjoy having a snack or coffee soo green and relaxing place ítems are quite interesting I look forward for next video thanks for sharing such Nice scenery music and cant wait to see that wonderfull kitchen tiles finished ❤
As always, so interesting, and what lovely countryside you live in! I was wondering what plant it was you collected next to the road, and then washed, and cooked in a pot? Just idle curiousity!
About your kitchen floors; go see what they have at the local place, and see if you like the newest shade. Or if you can, trade out your orange tiles for a mixture, put a pattern on the floors, orange around the edges and a lighter color in the center. Or just mix several softer shades randomly in the center-or throughout! Lots of options that may be more to your liking and not all orange. The orange tiles can also be used elsewhere in another cabin. Allow yourself flexibility and trust your instincts!!!🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵💙💙💙🏄
It’s stinging nettle! You can pick the leaves without gloves if you hold them by the stem under the leaves without getting stung but they were too close together to avoid touching the top part of the leaves and then you get stung. Cooking them for 2 minutes removes the stinging and then you can cook with them (soup, pesto, quiche, omelette…)
Another great video. Thank you. I’m interested in knowing what you were picking on the side of the road that you were careful not to get on your hands? Was it nettles?
You have given me so much pleasure and so many great ideas, this is the least I can do. Now I know how easy it is to say thanks in a practical way, I will be doing so again.
