  • So. Many. Dragons.
    Dragons on top of Dragons as Shota Yasooka and Ondrej Strasky throw many of the alpha predators at one another until only one is left standing in the Semifinals of Pro Tour Dragons of Tarkir.

      TheMagicManSam How do I learn to read a card like that? I just go.. "oh another counter spell", whereas you see all the flexible possibilities.

      Life Story.
      Early April I just came back into Magic after being away from it for about 4 years, even then I was playing kitchen table games with my family for about 11 years, so I didn't have a strategic competitive mindset, we just gathered our collection and made decks... little did we know, we were playing modern pretty much the whole time. Between the time I made that last comment and today I've learned to read magic cards a whole lot better now. I've been buying cards left and right, playing tournaments every weekend, learning what "meta" is in magic and watching numerous videos deck tech videos, pro tours, how to vids.
      I think for the most part, I can read a card and know if it's good or not, but still sometimes I need to think a lot more for some cards that seem good but wouldn't really know how to use them, for example... the exploit and delve strategy cards still confuse me, I get what the effect does, but I don't know what groups of cards would be good together to make them useful just yet. If you have many delve cards, it seems like I'm burning myself trying to get more cards into the graveyard than onto the battlefield which seems kind of scary, and exploit.... just the thought of sacrificing a creature is heart wrenching, granted it's probably a small one, but if there are no small ones, it may cost the game?

    God I love Shota... When I see him play... he's like this dark void of energy with his dark black and blue scenery, like a black widow spider or a zerg player in sc2. Evil, dark, and smart.

    But he had 2 legendary creature elder dragons! Can someone tell me the rule on that

    • @connornance3073
      @connornance3073 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      As long as they have different names, the legend rule does not apply.
      Strasky played Atarka, Shouta played Silumgar to take Atarka, Strasky played Atarka to kill Silumgar. The legend rule applied, and he had to sacrifice an Atarka. Shouta then took the second Atarka with a second Silumgar. The next turn, he played the other Silumgar (that has a different name), so only one instance of the legend rule took place.

    Fun match to watch, commentators super biased towards the control player, need to be more objective IMO.

  • @xahhfink
    @xahhfink 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That third game was absolutely awful to watch :(
    Really shows what an anti-fun deck that Shota has, in such huge contrast with Adrian Sullivan's deck. Despite both being the same archetype, Adrian's is a blast to watch while Shota is dreadful. I find myself rooting for his opponent every match.
