I went out and bought this exact color and trim. You’re right! This car looks great in white and I can’t believe all the bells and whistles it has for a “Premium” model! Test drove the Wilderness version but couldn’t really pinpoint enough differences to justify the $40K+ price…..pretty much felt like the same car. I’m so glad I bought this car!!!

I like that with this "best value" Premium trim, Subaru trimmed the seats with gray vinyl, instead of doing cloth all around the seating area. I like the light interior over the dark and gloomy black found in soo many low and mid-priced vehicles.

Recently I made an OBW vs. 4R video because I have an OBW and I’m currently fighting the urge to want a 4R lol. I also drive a lot and use to own Toyota trucks. And in the last few weeks I’ve driven another 4R, 2nd gen taco, and a 5.7 tundra yesterday. They’re definitely all old inefficient feeling vehicles, but super solid and reliable. 😂

I just ordered a 2024 Premium Forester some 3 weeks ago. 8-10 week delivery time,. I wanted the Ice Silver Metallic and none were available in that particular color. I have seen a few pictures of the 2025 Forester but a couple items I do not care for. One is the touchscreen . I prefer actual physical buttons instead of the touchscreen. Second the 2025 Forester has FORESTER imprinted into the real lift gate. That does not appeal to me. I base all my vehicle purchases on Consumer Reports. CR advice is redesigned vehicles the first year out have problem areas that require a fix. So I would not purchase the 2025 Forester because it is a redesign. I am age 71 and chose the 2024 Forester for the adaptive headlights....the excellent outward visibility.... along with the other numerous safety features. CR also highly recommends the 2024 Forester.

I thought it was the best value of all of the Foresters. This was the exact one (2023) I settled on. In black. It was down to this, the CX5 Preferred, and the Tiguan SE. I test drove the hell out of all of them. This was the most comfortable. My right knee doesn't hit anything. It's quicker than advertised, very planted around corners, and the mpg's are 34 hwy and 22 city. I don't mind the CVT trans at all. All weather mats and cargo tray, bumper cover, and sear back protectors are recommended. Happy as hell that I chose this.

So the 2024 will do fine for my needs. Garners great reviews from CR is a huge plus. The lack of a cd player is no concern to me. I would not get the 25 version. Firstly the lack of a raised roof rail makes it useless for me for my outdoor adventures. But also, you are better off buying the last model year of a generation than a first model year of a new generation. The former will typically be the most reliable while the latter is usually the least reliable until they fix all the problems in subsequent model years. Also a very good point is that you lose the physical climate control buttons and knobs in the new version which is bad. I have the 2021 forester which still has the CD player which is great. That got lost in the 2022 model.

@@Uncommonsensetoo The 25 Forester will be available with the RAV4 Hybrid system. You are right about buying the first year or two of a new model. The bugs need to get worked out.
I’ve never needed a roof rack, but a lot of people do.
The lack of physical buttons for heat and AC is actually ok. I didn’t think that I’d like it either but for the last 3 weeks I’ve had to drive a 24 OBW Wilderness as a loaner car because my Forester Touring had some warranty issues fixed. It’s easy once you get use to it.

I've got a 2020 premium with 45,000+ trouble free miles on it through mixed personal/business use. Love it....except for the Eyesight System, and all of the automatic anti-collision and auto-braking, jerking the steering wheel and taking over trying to steer, and the annoying warning alarms it feeds (and yes, I've turned as many off as you can turn off...but it still SUCKS). Even the service guys at my dealer (biggest Subie dealer in the US), HATE Eyesight. Other than that...nice rugged car, great value. It's my third Subaru...they give great value for the money, and are great where it snows.

I too own a 2022 Premium Forester and feel the same about those safety features. My biggest dislike is the steering wheel warning to keep both hands on the wheel! All the while, my hands ARE on where they should be. Overall, I’m highly satisfied with my first Subaru; it’s practically and price point where the biggest selling points.

@@PLefevre95 My 19 Forester Touring beeps and tells me to keep my eyes on the road, but only when I’m going into the Left sweeping turn.
It’s like dang it, I have to watch where I’m going. If I kept my eyes straight ahead, then it’d be too dangerous because I’m needing to see where I’m heading to the Left.
A few weeks ago I was driving up our mountain road to our house. I was in the “S” curves. All of the sudden my subie started applying the brakes and beeping. I didn’t see anything.
My wife was about 2 minutes ahead of me in her Outback. I had mentioned to her what my Forester had done. She asked me if I was in the “S” curve’s when it happened. I told her Yes.
When she was in that same area her Outback had done the exact same thing, but she saw a deer that was walking along side of the road.
So my Forester saw the deer, but I didn’t and my Forester was trying to slow me down so I wouldn’t hit it.
A few months ago my wife and I were heading into the city (25 miles from our house).
The speed limit had dropped from 60mph down to 45mph. I had been tapping my cruise control down to get to 45mph.
I had just tapped it down from 50 to 45. We were in the slow lane and there was some IDIOT who had been on my butt for about 1/2 a mile. All of the sudden he decided to pass me, which was fine.
Then he decided to take an exit, so he cut me off.
Before I had time to react, he almost clipped the front driver’s from fender.
My Forester’s brakes were slammed on and my Forester started moving to the Right to avoid being hit. My Subie had put me into the off ramp which is where that idiot was headed. By that time I began to react and I also hit my brakes harder.
The idiot in the pickup was right behind a semi truck that was having to slow down to about 5mph because the off-ramp is a 180 degree turn. The Dork in the Dodge pickup who had almost hit us then had to hit his brakes.
I swerved back into the slow lane and as I was passing the Idiot, I laid on my horn as I passed and gave him the Bird through my open sunroof.
Once we got passed him, my wife asked me if I had flipped him off. Of course I told her the truth and she said , No worries, I flipped him off on the way by.
So YES, I Love the Eyesight and automatic braking and the system that steers my car into an open space when driving under 50mph.
So this is twice in 2 months that the safety and accident avoidance system of my Subaru has “taken over” before I had time to react.
2 years ago when I bought my wife her Outback and added it to our insurance and dropped her 18 year old Camry, our insurance premium DROPPED by $600 per year.
Then last December (2022) when I sold my 13 year old RAV 4WD Limited and added my 19 Forester Touring, our insurance premiums DROPPED again by $600 per yr. That’s a Drop in premiums by $1,200 per year.
I asked our agent why our premiums Dropped. She told me that it’s because the Outback and the Forester achieved the IIHS Safety Plus award for Subaru’s Safety, Accident avoidance, and if we’re in an accident then we are less likely to receive any injuries and/or death in an accident, and furthermore Subaru’s are less likely to be stolen.
The only thing I HATE about my 19 Forester (with less than 14K miles) transmission is beginning to slip, so I know the shitty CVT will need to be replaced, very soon.

After six months of ownership, I'm tempted to trade my 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness for a Forester Wilderness. While not as "sleek" as the CTW, the Forester seems an overall better car and BUTTONS!! BTW, I was considering a 4Runner. But, it was just too big and inefficient. I also own a 2nd Gen Taco and I like it a lot (6MT). Thanks for the complete review.

But the well equipped premium has a lot too.
I've only driven about 40 miles, love it and have a good bead on the bells and whistles.
Rides super solid and quiet. Easy to get in and out of. I'm 6'2" and 65 yo. Harder to get out of cars. Plus my insurance went down $300/ year. ❤I want to see how close the mileage is to the estimates. Anybody have stats on their 2023's?⛽️
