*Great unit that’s easy to install and use. It’s relatively quiet compared to window units and **Fastly.Cool** , and it cools down our whole living room, side room and bathroom; which is a large space for any unit to cool.*

The wires on my remote sensor unit has different colored wires than the one you are using and there are no labels affixed to the wires to identify where to connect them to the fan/light. So how do I figure out where to connect the wires?

Thank you for making this video. Our previous contractor used a really shitty remote for our fans instead of hooking them to a light switch. And the remote is already broken.

And where do you put the remote unit? How do you secure it so it doesn/t rub on the motor? Here;s a tip. Use a plastic wire tie, not black electrical tpe which will get loose.

yea really , that was the only reason I clicked on this video there seems to be a little short of room for the remote !

You don't need to remove the fan, holy cow. Use wagos instead of lugs too.

How the heck do I fit it up there

AT times the remote does not fit in the fan's housing as the wires can cause too much interference. So I'll use velcro and attach a small piece to the ceiling in the least visible area trying to hide it behind the fan as best as possible. Then I'll attach a piece of velcro to the transmitter and then attach it to the ceiling's velcro. Painting the transmitter white will make it less obvious.

Why on earth wouldn't the manufacturers make a remote receiver that takes the universal ceiling fan plug so you can add it to an existing ceiling fan without having to remove the whole fan? Like car head unit install kits that go in between the aftermarket head unit and the factory harness plug. My two ceiling fans have harnesses that pull right out and could have a receiver replaced in between.

Because only one hot comes off the switch to the fan, but 2 hots ( fan and lights) connect on the other end.

It would be a better video if you did the power box and then slid over and then the fan separate. Just sayin

    Jack,
You started well but then started muttering and hiding your connections and referring to the item as a wireless remote. Just say remote for crying out loud. you apparently didnt THINK about this before wiring it all together. Also, anyone watching this is not an electrician. Use beginner terms. Dont say....now this HOT wire goes here............ha! Common joe does not know hot wired from cold wire.
They need to know what color wire come from ceiling goes from there to to remote and from the remote to the fan. I really dont think you could have made it any more confusing on this video....well except when you said put all the white wires together. But, other videos do NOT have all the white wires going together. If you are going to TEACH.....do it simply and clearly next time....or do this one over. thanks

Jack Watching: Damn, dude. Your tips are helpful, but you need not be a douche about it. Sometimes, the issue is HOW we communicate, not just the ideas we attempt to convey. Make your own videos if you are such an expert.

To be fair, it's not wireless OR a remote. You're wiring the receiver for said remote. This video is pretty mediocre, but it does convey the effect that it's simple enough to do. However, in my opinion, if you need a video to show you how to connect 3 wires, and couldn't figure out from the included instructions which wires were which coming out of the receiver, then you shouldn't be doing it yourself.

Sounds like this guy is a newbie electrician. This comment was 7 years ago so I'm sure he understands now that everything he said was stupid. All newbies try to critique others work and terms they use because they think they know everything. Everything he said was correct no matter what term he used its still referring to the same thing.
