- Divine was the inspiration for the design of Ursula the Sea-Witch in the Disney classic The Little Mermaid. This video is a montage of scenes from the film "The Little Mermaid" lip-sync on the Divines song "Shake It Up" - hope you like it :)

Divine was indeed the model, and he *was* going to voice Ursula, but he didn't live to.

the point is all the people having a coniption over the current Little Mermaid being Black who have a heart attack if they knew Ursula was inspired by Divine.
If Divine had lived a little longer, he would've NAILED Ursula in the recording booth!!!

I went to a New Wave Italo Disco night a few weeks ago. The place was packed. They played this song and it was my first time hearing it. Everyone danced their ass off. I looked up the tune a week later and learned Ursula was inspired by Divine.

Funny thing is, I knew who Divine was when I watched The Little Mermaid, but I did not relate the two until I learned that Ursula was based on Divine.
Now, I cannot either:
-Listen to any Divine track and not picture Ursula singing it, or
-See Ursula in TLM and not expect her to start singing something from Divine, even though I know she will not.
Well done Disney, well done. 😆
