    We were there for 2 nights this September and had great lion sightings on every drive including Casper and a great cheetah sighting ten feet from road. Tip have a wander by restaurant after it's closed in evening about 11pm had great view of the resident honey badger along with African wild cat . Great review .

    My Favorite Kruger camp is Berg en Dal and have been extremely lucky to see the big 5, 3/3 visits to the camp as well as wild dogs twice and I was even lucky enough to see a Civet. Lots of Hyena near Afsaal 😊

    If you want to see wildlife , Satara and Lower Sabie are the best rest camps to stay in Kruger Park .
    For a good meal in a restaurant go to Skukuza.

    Terrific video - you are so right, very few pix and videos of the camps themselves! So much so that I am having difficulty identifying the camp we stayed in 10 years ago - I'm putting together a scrapbook of our travels over the past 35 years for my uncle (my aunt died suddenly). I cannot recall if it was Skukuza or Satara, my dad booked it in 2011 (he sadly passed away in 2020 so I can't ask him). The bungalows shown in your video of Satara look like the rondavels we stayed in, but I don't remember the leopard statue (my favorite animal and I'm sure i would have taken a pic of it), so maybe it was Skukuza. If I sent you a pic, do you think you could tell?

    I stayed in Satara with friends for 5 days in July 1998 and saw the big 6 and everything except cheetah and african hunting dog. I made a friend of a game ranger charles and we are still friends today and keep in contact. Also had 2 days in Punda Maria. I saw tourists feeding hyenas at night not a good idea. My most amazing experience was hearing male lions roaring and fighting off hyenas every night and wow was that lion roar loud :) but i loved my time want to go back :) and my fav camps were Satara and Olifants and i saw a leopard behind a tree within 20 minutes of entering the park from melane and lionesses crawling over my volkswagon van i was in klooking in to their eyes as they crossed over but sadly i didnt have any photos to share on this :( but i saw a leopard at night was blurry as i had never taken night photos before but the night safaris were awesome :) We stayed in a few tents right against the fence :)

    Thank you so much for these great videos. My partner and I are booked to stay at Satara and the end of March 2025, for 2 nights I've accidentally booked a guest cottage (GC6BD) instead of a bungalow. I'm wondering if there might be any value in keeping this (would it have a great view for example?) or should I shift to a bungalow and save the additional cost?

    • @TheSafariExpert
      @TheSafariExpert  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@GregSegal, Satara doesn’t really have any accommodation with ‘better’ views than others, simply because it’s located on a flat plain (as opposed to a river or on a hill). Maybe check the exact difference online and decide whether or not it’s worth keeping. Your guest cottage might have AC or a nicer bathroom/kitchen setup than the bungalow.

    Hi Villiers, we are a family looking forward to visiting the Kruger National Park sometime in the next year of two. What is your advice on the best time of year for visiting the park: July or December school holidays?

    • @TheSafariExpert

      Neither 🙈 It’s too busy for me during the school holidays and both of those periods are VERY busy!

    Awesome video! Thanks so much. Firstly: we have booked our camping spot here for July. We are so excited. Is there any way to contact them to secure the camping spot near the fence? There wasn't an option online.
    Also I would love to buy your book as a digital download. Is that available? Thank you! Em and Niel in PE

    • @TheSafariExpert
      @TheSafariExpert  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Em. That’s exciting! No, you can’t prebook a fence stand - it’s first come first served. Try to arrive between 8 and 9am to give yourself the best chance of getting a fence stand. You can only order hard copies of the Kruger routes books - the link is in the video description. Enjoy your trip in July! 😎

    There are hidden gems of accomodation in the last circle. Circle F IIRC. Very quiet at the far end of the camp. Young baobabs in the centre of that circle that most visitors don't realize are "young " baobabs.
    Generally all the camps arrange the huts in circles to replicate traditional villages layouts.
    Monkeys have become a huge issue with the huts that do not have enclosed patios. The units with enclosed or protected food storage areas should be selected. We've been surprised a few times by intrepid troops opening l our food containers.

    I have a couple of questions.
    1. Say I want to stay 2 night in KNP, can I book two camps for example, Satara bungalow for 1 night and crocodile for the second night?
    2. Do we need special permits to self drive on the gravel roads (S roads)?

    • @TheSafariExpert
      @TheSafariExpert  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, you can book a bungalow for just one night at a time 👍🏻 and no, you don’t need special permits to drive on the S roads.

      @@TheSafariExpert that’s great to know as already booked it for next year. I stayed recently at Pretorioskop and despite the stands are not very well demarcated, there are big spaces and reasonable good shades. Ablutions are far apart and just “ok” I would say.
