    There is a recent interview with Roger Taylor he said that the sound was so bad on stage that they couldnt hear each other. He said it was all done by body language, eye contact and memory. Which makes it even more remarkable.

      Illustrates how professional they were and how tight the band was. They had rehearsed the set to get the timings correct. You can actually see the red light coming on just as they hit the last note of the set. Remarkable!

      @@elizajohn5I will always absolutely love The Beatles as a whole and individually, but Queen are absolutely every bit as good, possibly better when you consider the records they’ve broken and continue to break, the way they fit into so many genres, the genius behind how they produced Bohemian Rhapsody.. and so much more. Please don’t take any of that to discredit The Beatles. I’m a hardcore fan of The Beatles.

    Thank you for the reminder about Phil Collins. I thought it was Elton John. Oops. American here. I am in California and I watched this concert on television both Wembley and JFK. I am sorry you didn't have her react to the AAAAOOO's. Thank you for your memories of actually being there. Fantastic. During those years (1970's and early 1980's) we had festivals here in Northern California. 1 was Day on the Green at Oakland Coleseum in San Francisco bay area and Mountainaire in the Sierra Mountains that had line ups like this. Not for charity but I went to those concerts. Those were LONG days, in the sun, very warm (hot). I have admired anyone who went to Live Aide (London and Philadelphia). It was HOT in JFK stadium I remember the commentators talking about it. Those concerts are about the experience as much as the music.

    • @BritishDadReacts-ui4jx
      @BritishDadReacts-ui4jx  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for watching. I think America probably invented large, long day, outdoor festivals with Woodstock. These things are definitely about the experience, and certainly for Live Aid it was a consciousness raising event as well as images of the famine in Africa were shown throughout the day. Good point about her reacting to the AAAAOOO's - to be honest a lot of people have reviewed the full performance and I guess I still feel a little unsure as to the value of my contributions as I'm fairly new to this malarkey

    Live Aid was held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London, attended by about 72,000 people, and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, attended by 89,484 people. one-third of the global population tuning into a TV broadcast at the same time. That's what happened on July 13, 1985, when 1.9 billion people watched musicians perform in London and Philadelphia to raise money for famine-stricken Ethiopians.

    • @BritishDadReacts-ui4jx
      @BritishDadReacts-ui4jx  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't realise it was as high as 1.9 billion, thank you.

  • @willswalkingwest7267
    @willswalkingwest7267 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    It's worth noting, taking a close look at the crowds of tens of thousands....it's hard to find obese kids, it's hard to find anyone covered in tattoos and piercings, there certainly were a few but in general it's a different type of person there in the crowds.
    Freddie was the epitome of front men. He had complete and total control of that crowd. And those attending the Philadelphia show were equally mesmerized even though they were watching on a big screen.
    This was truly a once in a lifetime event from the crowds, the bands, the technical aspects, everything.
    Bob Geldof organized the impossible.

    • @BritishDadReacts-ui4jx
      @BritishDadReacts-ui4jx  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah it was different times then; trends change I guess. Freddie was incredible, as always. Interesting to know that even people in Phily were impacted by the performance. It was a once in a lifetime. There was an attempt to repeat it in the UK many years after but it wasn't quite up to the mark of the original
