If this isn't the great sci-fi movie from Hollywood's Golden Era, it's certainly in the top 5. An incredible work of writing and directing that still plays like gangbusters in theaters today.
I did like this film. I think I saw it on tv. Mid seventies. Also liked the Donald Sutherland remake. Both have bleak and chilling endings. Not in my top ten but well worth a watch. Thanks as always for the review 👍
Hi Steven, I"ve not seen the original & remake for years, but do own the the dvd of the original but i"m pretty sure when watching as a mid teen i preferred the 70"s version back then, my opinion might change watching the movies today, who knows. What i will say in watching the clips that you"ve put into this review it does look like a episode of the original Twilight Zone tv series which is one of my fav all time tv series so my opinion could change, but a revisit of the movies i"ll plan soon. Fine review buddy.

I've just seen Kino have announced a 4K release of this that I'd be interested in checking out. Kino seen to be putting out many classics on 4K but can be a bit pricey. Most of the town is replaced by pod people 😮 spoilers…… 🤣 just kidding, this has such a simple and effective premise, I guess that’s why it’s been remade and copied so many times, I always thought the new pod body digest the human for nourishment 🤔 excellent as always, (have you seen the Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig version called Invasion?) take care mate👍😃👍

I do love this one though with the ‘78 remake being a very close 2nd 🙌🎥

This film is among the greatest science fiction movies of all time, a masterpiece. The fine remake can stand proudly next to it.
