It’s so funny, because I could definitely see Michael Rennie playing Mr Spock if they hadn’t got Nimoy for the role. Fun fact was he was on a 2 part episode of Lost in Space, playing an alien zoo keeper.👍
I thought Klatuu explained that operating rooms and other hospital equipment still had power and that no one died short term from lack of power. Plenty of people could die long term though. That was the point.
Excellent movie, a classic, use to wait with anticipation to watch everytime it was on, since childhood, late 50's early 60's....ya did a great job on the review, ya know i still will watch when I see it's on....I can't get your link for Mr. Neutron to work....or maybe it's just me, not having a clue.... and btw...i did see the remake with Keanu Reeves, it's alright, a little different.....
@@OldMovieRob btw, that Michael Reenie is a main character in a movie I mentioned a couple weeks ago, when talking about the beautiful actress Jeanne Crain, Dangerous Crossing(1953)
Just came across this channel and I don't know if you do mid-Cold War stuff, but I think "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming" might be a good movie to check out. Titles and preview are from Pablo Ferro, who got famous from Kubrick putting the rough grease pencil version of the credits into Dr Strangelove.
You missed a number of important things in this review. Several that come to mind include: Prof. Barnhardt (Sam Jaffe) is a thinly veiled Einstein, the most famous scientist in the world, who, incidentally was still alive and working when this movie was released. The equations on Prof. Barnhardt’s blackboard are expressing the n-body problem, which is insoluble for a system with more than three bodies (at least with our mathematical abilities). By the way, Sam Jaffe’s most famous movie role is of Simonides in Ben Hur (1959). Also, Jaffe was blacklisted as a “communist” sympathizer when he was cast for “The Day the Earth Stood Still”. Did you consider the religious allegories of the film? Klatuu takes the name “Mr. Carpenter”. He brings a message of peace. He arises from the dead. He ascends into heaven. Did you just miss this, or were you just hesitant to bring these things up?
Good observations. Yeah, with my earlier reviews I didn't go as deep as I should have with analysis, film information/trivia, etc. I've been gradually trying to do better with more recent films I watch on the channel. Thanks for the comments!

I might check out the remake but as mentioned, so many other classics to watch first!

I'll add that to my list, thanks! I've actually settled into mostly cinema of the 40's, but every now and then I branch out into later films.
OOOOOHHHHHHHH EXCITING!
Are we doing Tarzan and the leopard woman? I think there was a woman in it called Acquanetta.
I've I've it on my list. I think that Brenda Joyce is in that as Jane, and she was in Tarzans Magic Fountain as well.
