I used to lift heavy. Then I started watching “science” based stuff and switched my training to lighter weight full range of motion shit. I stopped getting sore and stopped growing. You’ve inspired me to start horsin’ heavy ass weights and now I’m sore and growing again. Thanks man
For me the other way around. Injured myself too much wih my pencil neck genetics. Lifting full ROM but still as heavy as i can produces soreness like hell for me and im progressing at a stupid rate for myself rn using RP Hypertrophy sciency bullshit. Guess it depends

Dips and bb bench should be S tier. Back when I was a pencil neck and didn’t do heavy dips or bench and only did flyes, db press, and hammer strength wide chest press for the bulk of my chest growth, I hit a major plateau until I mustered up the cajones to pick up the damn barbell and weight belt for dips.

Jeff's ranking really shows his privilege as a fitness influencer. Putting machines in S tier is insane in the real world. Only if you train at top tier gyms will you have access and availability of "good" machines. In a regular gym, working on almost any machine is a toss up. When was the last time you could hog the cable station for a full session of cable crossovers? Bars and dumbbells will always be superior.
The reason is that the incline/decline/flat is they work the same pecs. So him ranking them different is ridiculous since they both are the same. Aka no reason. If same isnt same then its stuped

I’ve been doing “science based training” for the last two years and I’ve seen some serious size growth, but not a whole lot of strength gains. On top of that, I’ve been getting bored with training. Started watching your videos and I’ve added some horse cocking into my lifts starting with zercher squatting some heavy iron and I’ve never had so much fun in the gym. The people doing those cable flies are the most annoying. They take up so much space, they take up 2 entire cables, and they’re always so small and weak, there’s no reason to be doing that exercise for a beginner.
Incline DB press #1 for me. I can't see putting any machine exercise in S tier over the basic free weight DB/BB exercises.

I horse cocked my overhead press from 40kg to 70kg in like 2 months back in the day, but lost the mindset and bought into some bullshit that made me stall for years and now I'm back to ohp everyday. I can feel my inner mammoth awakening
