I remember watching this at home with my family. I remember the moment Crosby scored, we all jumped up with incredible amounts of excitement. It still gives me chills after nine years!
Dan Saw O-L-Y-M-P-I-C-S!!! Every country that entered for Hockey had a chance. Canada was the best in 2010 and are poised to repeat this year! GO TEAM CANADA!
I remember this moment so clearly. I was in the ER with my grandfather, and everyone was going absolutely insane once Crosby scored that goal. SO damn proud to be Canadian! This is our sport and we showed it yet again!
Whats funny is Miller said after this tourny he would never play for a Canadian team.....fast forward 5 years. Plays for the same city he lost this game in lol
I think he did that... cause he was the MVP in that Arena at the time of the torny. he stood on his head and US dominated most of the torny cause of him.
Its been almost a decade: do you love that you are now being swamped by degenerates from the subcontinent to the tune of hundreds of thousands per year?
You can hear Crosby yell "Iggy" when he broke to the goal, he knew. I can't imagine what that must have felt like for Sid to score that goal for his Country. The reaction video from all over Canada is amazing too! They love their hockey!!
My buddy split his head open on the edge of a table when our celebration hug toppled over. We had to rush his ass to the hospital, where he ended up needing 40+ stitches. Ahhhhhh, good times! 🥰
I still remember this goal... We were like 10 waiting for our hockey game to start at a tournament we had 2 hours till the game and we watched this and the second he scored every one went crazy it was a good time and the best part we got 1st in the tournament
I'm Canadian and while I don't watch NHL hockey, I was very psyched up for this and had to watch it. What a great game it was! Overtime in a gold medal game, I think it was like the teams said "Let's put on an extra show". The perfect way to end an incredible Olympics, by winning gold in Canada's most popular winter sport. GOLD, CANADA GOLD!!
They both made the play Crosby was the one that almost beat 4 American players to the corner, then before he lost it he passed it to Iginla, Sid called for the puck, you can hear him yell "IGGY" then he shoots it five hole. So it was a little more than Crosby "merely slid it through miller".
The only time Crosby broke my heart when he scored s goal. So close that year for Team USA. I remember after the break when NHL play resumed The Pens first game back was against Buffalo. Before the game they introduced all the Olympians from Team Canada and Team USA that were on the Pens and Sabres. I will never forget the ovation that the Penguins crowd gave Ryan Miller for his performance in these games for Team USA. Even Miller got chills from it.
This one hurt big time because USA was so close to winning their first gold since the miracle on ice! Still nothing to hang their heads about it was an amazing effort by both teams
This was the very first hockey game I've ever watched. I grew up in a country where snow never happened, where the coldest temperature was just around 25° and where skating rinks were only found in air-conditioned shopping malls. This hockey game literally changed my life. I'm now a Canadian citizen and a die hard Leafs fan. I'm glad Canada won the gold medal! It only proved how much a hockey game can bring people together (:
I am American. I was definitely rooting for the US during this game. BUT I'm definitely not going to trash talk Canada when it comes to hockey...That was a great game and well deserved gold medal for Canada. Well done, but there is always 2014 and beyond!
- Ugh, just cause us Canadians are excited for this year. Doesn't mean other people from other countries has to go tell us to shut up & get over ourselves. That's kinda rude you know, just cause your country didn't win gold and ours did.
I'm from the us and I know Canada is a better hockey country. So I'm not saying the us can't defeat Canada, they just took Canada to ot, I just think Canada is better.
Also, I can't forget Zach Parise's tying goal with 25 seconds remaining, everybody gathered at Yonge & Dundas Square in Toronto suddenly going silent with mouths agape. . . .
Why must the canadians in this comment section be so abrasive to Americans posting here? Yes, hockey is Canada's game, and the best players come from Canada...does that mean I shouldn't enjoy the game as an American? Hockey is badass, and I'd rather have it in my country using mostly Canadian players than not get to watch the best players play.
When I saw olympic goal I firstly thought he scored direct from a corner kick but now I see it’s not that type of olympic goal but it was like a goal in a olympic tournament what a shame
When you watch this goal as a Penguins fan, it irritates you to no end. In 2012, at the trade deadline, the Pens brought Iginla to Pittsburgh....and coach Dan Bylsma steadfastly refused to play him on Crosby's line, pairing him up with Evegeni Malkin (with whom he developed zero chemistry) instead.
If you watch the play closely, the American player closest to Crosby is trying to decide whether to defend Crosby (who's at a bad angle) or protect the point (where one Drew Doughty is waiting to tee it up). Right choice, but a hell of a shot from a bad angle by Crosby. BYW, I'm Canadian, but I hate when people say it means more to our guys. For all the sport choices Americans have, those excellent players in blue chose to play and love their game....Hockey!
This year he was the reason they didn't Fail for Nail, also he cleaned up his act, he used to go out and Party, which would lead to his failures in the playoffs, wait till the Olympics, you'll see.
O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free! From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
This is the interesting part, who is the Starter? Carey or Fleury? Many think Luongo is gone, if anything he's the 3rd string, or they think Cam Ward's 3rd string.
The fact that someone called this the most important moment in Canadian history cements Canadas Great White Impotence as a Nation. Homogeneity for life!!
I think it's the exact opposite. The American team had great chemistry and teamwork despite not having many stars, while the Canadian team was an all-star team. The only reason the Americans were there was because of their teamwork... and Miller.
Just because one of our defensemen didn't stay between his man and the net like he was supposed to doesn't mean that Iginla and Crosby have any chemistry together.
Still get the chills watching this. I live in Australia now but I'll never forget this game and I'll never forget where I'm from - Go Canada!!!
Australia great place to live!
How the fuck did u end up in Australia ?
@@mae7203 Moved down with my family in '04 as an 8 year old
I remember watching this at home with my family. I remember the moment Crosby scored, we all jumped up with incredible amounts of excitement. It still gives me chills after nine years!
Canadian h ockey teams dont win stanley cups, but remember this, Canadian hockey players help win the stanley cup for the americans
i agree, most of the greatest hockey players ever were Canadian.
God you Canadians need to get over yourself. Hockey is played in many countries not just Canada.
Dan Saw O-L-Y-M-P-I-C-S!!! Every country that entered for Hockey had a chance. Canada was the best in 2010 and are poised to repeat this year! GO TEAM CANADA!
Gordon Chandler You mean the year that Canada couldn't defend for an extra 30 seconds and had to win in OT session? Anything else Gordon?
ERMEGHERD!!! THEY WERN!!
I remember this moment so clearly. I was in the ER with my grandfather, and everyone was going absolutely insane once Crosby scored that goal. SO damn proud to be Canadian! This is our sport and we showed it yet again!
and this is why I'm proud to be Canadian.

moments like these make me love Canada even more
Its been almost a decade: do you love that you are now being swamped by degenerates from the subcontinent to the tune of hundreds of thousands per year?

you so can!
I am guessing when Crosby yelled "Iggy," Ryan Miller soiled his pants, because he knew what was coming.
"In the next 7 minutes one of the players in this locker room is gonna be a hero for the rest of his life." - Mike Babcock
Karsa Orlongs Witness And it had to be Crosby. As if his name wasn't already gonna be put down as one of the greatest players ever lol
Xiomara Rodriguez Reyes he is, i would put him in 4th spot beside the greatest, 1.Gretzky
. 2.
Lemieux. 3
.Ovechkin. 4. Sid the kid
3 years later this still brings tears to my eyes. Hockey is ours!
This was my original edited goal score from my previous acc.
Nice to see it still up on youtube.
It was his destiny to make that goal, greatest moment in hockey in my lifetime for sure.
Assuming you were born after 1972, I agree!
My buddy split his head open on the edge of a table when our celebration hug toppled over.
We had to rush his ass to the hospital, where he ended up needing 40+ stitches.
Ahhhhhh, good times! 🥰
There was a wee bit of Molson's involved, eh?
I still remember this goal... We were like 10 waiting for our hockey game to start at a tournament we had 2 hours till the game and we watched this and the second he scored every one went crazy it was a good time and the best part we got 1st in the tournament

Too good!!! I can watch this forever!!!
chills. happy birthday cap'n.

PENS68 too bad he didn't like Winnipeg too much. Fans here chanted 'Silver Medal' to Miller when he played here. He wasn't a fan of the memory.
This one hurt big time because USA was so close to winning their first gold since the miracle on ice! Still nothing to hang their heads about it was an amazing effort by both teams
They didn't win gold in 1980
Pens fan...didn't hurt one bit....Go Sid.
Man, I just cried a little remembering this moment!
I'm american and i still cheered for Canada to win! Crosby is the best in the league hands down.
Sorry for becoming a leafs fan
Glad to hear about your inspired hockey fanship! 😃
Sorry to hear about your Leafs fanship. 😥
i love Canada it gives me chills every time i watch this!!!!
Those were the good old days we all want back
Ryan Miller was a brick wall when we played them in the prelims. And Kesler's empty net goal was actually pretty sweet too
I am American. I was definitely rooting for the US during this game. BUT I'm definitely not going to trash talk Canada when it comes to hockey...That was a great game and well deserved gold medal for Canada. Well done, but there is always 2014 and beyond!
I am an American, too. But I'm also from Pittsburgh, so it was "Go Canada" all the way. Sorry, not sorry.
I still get chills from watching this!
Still remember as it was yesterday ❤️🇨🇦
Sid a national hero for his county
I'm American, but there was no way in Hell I was going to cheer against my team's captain. Was so happy Canada won and Sid scored the winning goal.
tearing up a bit.
- Ugh, just cause us Canadians are excited for this year. Doesn't mean other people from other countries has to go tell us to shut up & get over ourselves.
That's kinda rude you know, just cause your country didn't win gold and ours did.
I'm American but I was routing for Canada because I'm a huge Crosby fan :P
I was rooting for the Canadians all the way. When it comes to hockey, I'm a Penguins fan first, and an American second.
one of the best game's i have ever seen
I still get goose bumps when I watch this!
What a game being from Pittsburgh this was such a weird moment being pissed and happy that it was him
this has to happen again this year.
dakota Carlson far too dominate in Sochi, wasn't even close. Lol
will never forget this moment
I had a heart attack during this game. Sid the kid and Paul Henderson 1972. I saw them both. I can not die.
Two great teams right here... GO CANADA GO!!!
Lmao Doc Emrick, such an enthusiastic call. You can hear the pain in his voice as he calls this goal
Remember how much I screamed to this in my living room!!!
I remember this like it was yesterday
Miracle on ice blows this away....
If you're a Pens fan, this is a close #2.
I love how after 2 years still nobody gives credit to Iginla for that pass.
I cry every time.
ahhhh amo a ese CROSBY!!! i love he so much with all myy heart
THIS MOMENT MADE ME SO PROUD TO BE CANADIAN.
I remember that game! best hockey game i've ever seen!
Being from Pittsburgh, and rooting for Sid and against the Americans that day, it still take a back seat to the Miracle on Ice.
So proud of you Sid ❤️
my favorite hockey goal =]
This seems like just yesterday, I can't believe it was 3 years ago.
I'm from the us and I know Canada is a better hockey country. So I'm not saying the us can't defeat Canada, they just took Canada to ot, I just think Canada is better.
Crosby had a Great year that year
The 2014 team Canada was even better than 2010. Perfect record 6-0. And only 3 goals allowed in the 6 games...in the OLYMPICS!! That domination.
This is like 1920 hockey. I know it's old footage but... wow! This typing is more clear than the puck. Put this in level D) Archive footage.
As an American and a Penguins fan, I felt pretty damn alright with the goal :P
Im surprised NBC showed this game Live, i thought they would tape delay it
Also, I can't forget Zach Parise's tying goal with 25 seconds remaining, everybody gathered at Yonge & Dundas Square in Toronto suddenly going silent with mouths agape. . . .
What a pass. Jerome, welcome to Pittsburgh bro.
I second that motion
You can just see the thought bubble over Ryan Miller's head, "Oh no, not again."
Happy 150 guys
still so amazing !!

*10 years later* the goalie is still wondering wtf happened
No he's not. He knows that Crosby happened.
3 years since this amazing moment... at least this video doesn't have the annoying Chris Cuthbert commentary.
LEGEND
I love how stamkos and giroux weren't even playing then! Can't wait to see how beast team Canada will be in 2014
congrats to canada from a usa fan
I love how you can hear sidney crosby screaming for the pass
“ IGGY”.
@334nate He was having an off year after coming off surgery.
Miller was the only reason the US had a chance. He kept them in the game.
im from Spain , but i love see how canada win this game :D
CANADA BEST HOCKEY SELECTION
Is there a version anywhere on TH-cam with this goal from TSN with Canadian announcers? I can't find one.
When I saw olympic goal I firstly thought he scored direct from a corner kick but now I see it’s not that type of olympic goal but it was like a goal in a olympic tournament what a shame

As a Penguins fan, this was the only time I ever said "fucking Crysby."
You're no pens fan if you'd call him that
Oh no, when it comes to hockey, I'm a Pens fan first and an American second. And had it been Russia vs. USA, I'd be rooting for Geno.
Oh to be in the crowd that day!
the Golden Goal
I'm a Canada fan but the Americans still did great
memories
Sid will be yelling "Iggy!!!" some more now. Cool.
This year he was the reason they didn't Fail for Nail, also he cleaned up his act, he used to go out and Party, which would lead to his failures in the playoffs, wait till the Olympics, you'll see.

Not Flower....he really got hosed that year.
Sick pass by Iginla!
The fact that someone called this the most important moment in Canadian history cements Canadas Great White Impotence as a Nation. Homogeneity for life!!
Whose here right before 2018?
My friends and i yelled and jumped and hugged for like 10 minutes
the day every Canadian liked crosby.
goosebumps
I think it's the exact opposite. The American team had great chemistry and teamwork despite not having many stars, while the Canadian team was an all-star team. The only reason the Americans were there was because of their teamwork... and Miller.
Yea you tell 'em!
GO SID!!!!!!
Absolutely. I will root for Sid over the Americans every time...come to think of it, I rooted for Geno and the Russians over the Americans, too.
Just because one of our defensemen didn't stay between his man and the net like he was supposed to doesn't mean that Iginla and Crosby have any chemistry together.
lool i kno we suck at summer olympics but we rock at winter cause it snows for most of the year in canada.
is it just me, or did the 2002 team show a lot more emotion after winning.
BEST.FUCKING.GAME.EVER.
VICTORY!!!!!
