    You are 100% right when you advise people to be careful with anti Mormon stuff. My son left the church years ago and in an effort to help him I got sucked into his world for a time. I lost my testimony. It was the worse experience of my life. I continued to do the daily, weekly, etc… things because I didn’t want to feel that way. I even stuck to my goal of attending the temple monthly. One time while in the initiatory Heavenly Father opened my heart and reminded me of a specific thing I had been promised. Things started getting better but it took a long time. I’m so grateful I found my way back to this beautiful gospel and my Savior!

    Thank you so much for this message. My then 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with leukemia in Aug 2022. Because of her weakened immune system from chemo she contracted meningitis and passed away in Feb, a month away from turning 6. I’ve just been praying that until I understand why all this happened that I’ll just have peace in Christ and God’s plan for her. I’ve grown so much from this experience, but like Mike said, it hurts. Learning lessons is not easy but I continue to hold fast to the thought that God will never forsake us. This lesson was so touching. Thank you again.

      I cannot begin to imagine the feelings you have experienced. I (Mike) nearly lost a son in an accident years ago and just a taste of even thinking about this was overwhelming. I will pray for your peace. God bless you and your family.

    Fascinating, especially the stuff about the types of early Christians.

      Thanks! There were many ways the early Christians understood and practiced their faith.

    So helpful about all the anti folks and the potential responses. I sort of freeze when I get attacked with all the things that you specifically mentioned.

    I would really love it if you guys would do a video on something that President Nelson’s mentioned recently- the reception of the fullness of the H.G. I think this is mentioned in Moses 6 at the end? I personally would LOVE to hear what you guys can you guys put together on this. Thanks for considering 😊

      Thanks for listening! We will keep working to produce content related to the scriptures, and hopefully something in the future will resonate.

    I loved how Bryce applied the allegory to each one of us personally--so enlightening!! I have question about the “plucking” . What does that mean horticulturally? Is that referring to thinning the fruit from the tree, or does it mean something else? And could the pruning equate with our making covenants and connections with Father in heaven so that he can shape us into who He would have us become? Thanks so much for your podcast!! I gain so much more insight from the scriptures as I listen to you apply them to us personally in our day. You guys are the best!!!

    Mike: towards the end you speak of Satan being on the council, relating to Jesus and Lucifer being brothers, (and on that note, we were his siblings too), but when you spoke towards the end there, a thought came to mind, a validation of the pre mortal life… if Satan didn’t have THAT experience, how could he have even tempted Adam and Eve to eat the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge… if there was no knowledge to draw from to start off with? There would be no point to tempted them. He knows the plan from the beginning and he will always direct us to fall… to not follow Christ so that we will always fail; to never return. Great lesson.

    As a missionary we always taught that Satan will present 99 truths to bring about the one lie. That’s the twisting Bryce and Mike were talking about for sure.

    • @phonev6
      @phonev6 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not true. Why bother? Just twist a single truth. He is not the god of truth.
      This would make me unsafe and insecure.
      You mean these 99 truths came from Satan.
      He creates chaos. Not even one pure truth.
      For what its worth.

    Have Mormons fallen from grace? The tree of life or the olive tree is within . If we keep looking for God outside of ourselves we will never find him.

    I have a relative that says the church it's hypocritical when they say not to be racist when she says there's racism in our past. Is that an example of a twist?

    • @talkingscripture
      @talkingscripture  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      A twist is not really an attack on the church, as much as it’s an enticing half truth that pulls people away from the path of Christ.

    The truth loves challenge. If the gospel is really true, why is it the easiest to "deconstruct"? Why shouldn't we search for answers to "anti" questions? We should ask those questions. We should explore those doubts and if our convictions are true, they would become stronger.

    Is there value in seeing the trees as multivalent? As in the trees can be stages of Israel? Northern Kingdom Southern Kingdom, Nephites, Lamanites etc but also be the temple....roots, trunk, branches....into the fruit? And the soil be geography related but also represent people's of the world? Garden of Eden references with Abraham but then rejection with Josiah.... gospel taken to the less fertile parts or the rest of the world? The labors he gives to the soil to repurpose it for His purposes....the immortality and eternal life of man...then could also the branches also represent temple ceremony being delivered around the world but lost through apostasy but the echoes of lost truths nourishing the children of God until a full renewal to the mother tree can be fulfilled? The sudden appearance of the Mother tree at the end and the intro in chapter 4 of our first parents let's me see that this chiasma is more about Heavenly Father and Mother and their condescension to show at one ment with us by allowing all of us to be represented together in the allegory and showing that the true temple ceremony most precious to them and painful to lose because of its purpose to bring us....the soil through the roots into the fruit is what is lost if the true temple ceremony is lost...being a fruit farmer...fruit is essentially glorified soil, water and sun light. The idea of first and last and last and first is an indicator to me that multiple meanings are meant to be derived from each symbol to pull the intended meaning of Jacob from this allegory....yes it is an allegory for Israel....yes it is an allegory for the Nephites and Lamanites, yes it is an allegory for the world, yes it is an allegory for the true temple ceremony that has vestiges echoing all over the world, yes it is an allegory for Heavenly Father and Mother and the Son, and most significantly their intense labor to bring us to at one ment with them.

      I (Mike) see lots of stuff going on with the tree. It’s very important to the visionaries of the Book of Mormon and has many meanings as I read the text.

      @@talkingscripture agreed I just realized the digging and nurturing can also be a reference to the crucifixion/blood of Christ...condescending to become one with the soil shedding His blood to enrich the poor soil, descending below all things...etc...the symbols are meant to teach many things. Want to be careful not to overstep but I find value in seeing these ones.

    • @davidmickelle7326
      @davidmickelle7326 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@talkingscripture also love the idea going along with descending below all things...but then also following the same path we would follow were we the soil and the tree the temple/ceremony...soil empowered through living water and light to enter the roots, travel to the trunk, then the branches and then finally enter and become one as the fruit. Adds some layers when they say all things testify/typify of Christ...the whole reference for Christ being the Family of Christ/Tree of Life...living water and light as means to bring us to the presence of God/fruit via the temple...I'm probably not putting my thoughts down clearly enough and you probably get too many comments already
