When I was 18 back in 2008, I spent more than an hour searching for Partie Traumatic at a Best Buy. It was the most amount of time I ever spent searching for an album in a store. There was one album left, and it was buried super far in the back. I almost missed it entirely.

I still say that Partie Traumatic was its own kind of instant classic. The album that thrives on heartbreak, awkwardness, and catchy ass music that blends the sensibilities of old school disco and R&B with the twee pop of that year. I still call it what happened if a post-punk/indie pop band of your choice tried to create their own version of Michael Jackson's Off the Wall...or any song by him. The sparkly disco vibes hiding underneath all of the shoegazey production that later gets cleaned up on the official recording.
I wonder if a video about the Canada boom (Arcade Fire, The Dears, Death From Above 1979, etc.) is an option. Also ,the period where hip hop collaborated with indie rock and pop (Hipster Hop).

You nailed their sound better than I did there 😃.
I'll definitely do a DFA1979 video at some point!

I just discovered your channel and loving the mini docs about indie bands and such. Can you please do the band Does it Offend You, Yeah? Next?

Does anyone remember the band Tapes N Tapes? They had a song called 'One in the World' that was played on either XMU or Alt Nation back in the day. I don't know what happened to them.

I really liked the Tapes N Tapes album 'The Loon'...then they seemed to disappear without a trace.

My sister bough me a shirt from one of their shows and they signed it. That was dope. Insistor was a great song.

Personally never cared for Pitchfork reviews as they always seem to come across as music snobs. I remember they also gave Mull Historical Society's classic debut album 'Loss' a bad review and is why I preferred NME magazine :-)

I put far too much stock into reviews when I was young and impressionable!
