    We lost power for several hours a few days ago (springtime in Minnesota for you), resulting in the FC display. Thanks to this video, I'll be unscrewing the power plug and taking the battery leads off to reset the system. Thanks Tom1

    Very good, thank you. Utility company changed our meter (routine they say) and we got this FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE fault. Still waiting for ADT to call back BUT THIS FIXED IT.
    Thanks again.

    Your keypad didn't have a "ready" light on because it was telling you that there is a problem with zone 22 (check 22 message). If you didn't fix the problem with that zone, you'll get the same error message within 12 hours. An easier method, other than fixing the problem with that zone (replacing the battery, checking make sure the cover plate is closed properly, etc.), would be to bypass it. To bypass a troubled zone: Master code+6+22 (the instructions are on the flap of your keypad)

      I discontinued my monitoring system and set booby traps. Coming through any door there a spring loaded 2x6 loaded with deck screws with the heads cut and trebles cut through. It has the strength of a pre 1989 Mike Tyson upper cut and is wired in garage door engagement chip. For the windows I jackhammered the slab and dug a huge mote around the walls and put Sabor tooth tigers, Great Whites, and Cayman. And for my mother in law using a Face ID chip I found a ejection seat from an old James Bond movie and McGuyvered it in the foyer with no hole in the ceiling. Should save a few bucks a month. I leave everything unlocked at night and have a sign in my yard saying”Free 80” 8K TV” at the door it says “Welcome neighbor. Just walk on in and take it all, we ain’t home!” So I’ll let u know

    @02:45 It's usually best to reconnect the battery BEFORE plugging in and switching on the power supply. Some mains wall warts supply higher than 12V when first plugged in, and you need the battery already in circuit to "absorb" the extra volts.

    Hi, the numbers i use the most dont work anymore even if i press them hard. Can this problem be fixed? Or do i have to buy another one?
    Do u have a video on how to fix the keys?
    Also, i see that some say Ademco like mine, but some say Honeywell, but they look the same. Does the brand matter? Or i can buy the Honeywell even though mine says Ademco?

    • @TomLeeman
      @TomLeeman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ADT is all proprietary and they usually work either through the Internet or on their own frequency system they install an antenna but you would need is the original code if you wanted to try to set it so that you could just use the alarm otherwise it’s fairly loot useless to you you could call ADT and see if they could help you set up the pad or reboot it it’s a extensive process Once they got you running then you could turn off the service and just use the internal alarm good luck thanks for watching

      Do you unplug the transformer it’s probably in the garage next to your garage opener if you have one and then open up the panel there’s a 12 V battery in there pull the two leads off of it and you’ll stop the alarm

    I’m a realtor and my client bought a home that has an ADT system. How do we stop the system from calling ADT so the alarm system an be used unmonitored? We were given the 4 digit code at closing. Keeps getting a FC code (Failed Communication)

    • @TomLeeman
      @TomLeeman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t believe you can use this alarm system on monitor you have to be hooked up to ADT to use it thanks for watching

    • @gameprojay
      @gameprojay 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Iirc fc means adt is not getting any signals from the system. Also if the system was already in the home when your client purchased, odds are the system is out of service anyway. Which could also explain the fc error.
      Moral of the story: can't arm system normally unless system is being monitored by adt (in service)

      Mine was in the garage on the ceiling and it was screwed in, so you may have to look around by your box or your main terminal wherever that is somewhere in that area. You should find a plug that is a large plastic box which I think is a transformer and you have to unplug that and then you have to undo the terminals on the 12 V battery to take all the power out of the system.
