I love how often you come up with designs and plans to build just the very thing we need at that moment. This is exactly what I need to store all the cushions for my outdoor furniture. And maybe a second one for all the dog's toys (she's pretty spoiled so there are a lot!)
Ana is absolutely the best! Been building from her for years now and she never ceases to amaze me. I’ll be makin this come the weekend with a few tweaks for my sons dirty clothes hamper/bench. Luv Ana!!
This will be my first diy building project. Excited and kinda scared at the same time, but watching you work empowers me to do it, even though I don't have a garage to work in lol. I replaced my vans window regulator and now feel like I can conquer anything! ☺️😁😀
This is great, Ana. Can you show how to build a camp toilet? What I mean is a dry toilet, using a 5 gallon bucket, a wooden box to put it in, and wood shavings (to cover the contents). All the videos I've seen talk about how to use the toilet, but no one shows how to actually make one! A toilet like this would be great to have, even outside of a camp or off-grid situation, for times when the power goes out. When our power goes out, there's no electric for our well pump, so we can't even flush. We're trying to get better prepared for these types of situations. Hope all is well with you and yours this summer. Enjoy the sunshine!
A great design that was easy to build. I added cleats to the top, front and back for added support and also added two more 1x3’s on the lid in order to cut out a hole as we plan on using it as a package drop off box / deck box.
I would love to have one of these for my front porch so my Amazon packages are not going to be stolen, not that it’s happened to me yet but not far from where I live other people have had their things taken from them. Plus the way it looks I would love to have one on my back porch for some of my stuff wouldn’t look so messy! Keep up the good work to you and your lovely family!👍 A womens work is never done. This channel is one of my top 3 favorite channels on You Tube!👍 Do to my back problems I cannot get down on the floor like young Ana does but it doesn’t stop me from dreaming about building things the way you do Ana.👍
Hola Ana! I love your proyects I'm Hispanic carpenter and you help me a lot whit your ideas. Thank you so much for share your plans . God bless you Sincerely : Carlo.
I really like that. Wonderful job. Thanks Ana hope your time off was relaxing to you & your family. Have a great week. Be safe & God bless, Chris from Missouri
I believe my neighbors know what I'd be putting in that wonderful bench. Everytime it's going to rain,or just begun, I'm rushing to collect cushions and hauling them inside, a sight to be seen with a chuckle. How many Mothers Days, Christmases, Birthdays must I wait? The waiting is over! Even Twitter has put me aside for my comments! LOL = Look Out Lugheads!
Oh, I like the simplicity of this build. What a nice piece of furniture! What about applying the transparent finish on the pieces before putting them together? It would then reach all surfaces, even those now hidden between the parts.
Check out some of the stuff I built, all recycled wood, there's no, how to videos but I'm sure I could do some. th-cam.com/video/braHfDqUQUE/w-d-xo.html
You could certainly pre-finish the pieces before assembly. But in my experience, the complicating factor in doing so is that you'll likely need to do additional sanding when everything is put together, which is going to mess up your first finish and you'll have to do it again. Not to mention the fact that applying seal to every surface of a board is very time-consuming because you have to let one side dry before you can start working on the other side.
I just stumbled on this channel and have added it to my subscription list. Love this project. You make everything you build look so easy. Thank you for helping out your fellow DIYers.
Great idea and great job Ana. I am going to build one like this but bigger for the end of the bed for storage. maybe that would be good idea for you for a future Video.
Just made this-would suggest the following modifications: 1. Use leftover 1x3s cut to length to add strength to the lid and back panels; the lid is heavy and hinges will pull from the screws if open all the way, same goes for top panels-it’s not supported in the middle were someone to sit on it. 2. Buy 1 or 2 extra 1 x 6 x 6 picket fences IF they come with dog ears; it will be too short cut to size according to the plans. So instead of 7 buy 8 or 9. The other way is to use one of the shorter boards and add the difference for bottom panel on the back side-no one will see it. 3. Use a block plane or chisel to chamfer the feet or it will chip and tear out if slid across the floor over time. Have fun building one!
I made this yesterday and overall it was awesome home there was almost no left over material. Make sure your cuts are right with that being said. Few problems I had: the 1-1/4" long exterior self tapping screws are just a little too short. like some would just fall out when sanding the box after it was built. I didn't like how open the inside was. but that was not a hard fix. Overall this was easy to follow and was under $50 to build. I am using this inside for a shoe box.
"These rarely split the wood". Try a product called Splitstop. They are screws that are unbelievable at not splitting wood. You can drive them without the so called predrill 1/2 inch from the end of a 1 X and not split the board.
Apply varnish to all the boards as soon as you cut them to size to make sure they are all well covered. Do not use any nails as they will rust out quickly. Instead of just laying wood on the bottom, cover it completely, so that it mimics the top. Order a custom made internal galvanized steel charcoal box from your local metal shop.
The problem with outdoor storage benches is that your children reach in there and get toys and there are spiders in the box and with the bottom of the box open like that snakes could get in too
Question-I know the Cedar can withstand weather conditions but what about the 2x4s? Should pressure treated be used if the piece will be exposed to rain?
"About $40 in materials,". I bought some 5/4 decking a couple months ago @about $7 a board. I bought some last week at nearly $14 per board. Have you bought wood lately?
I really like Anna's vids because she doesn't do the cutesy "I'm trying to land a gig on HGTV" act. She just does the demo. 👍👍
Hahaha she's already been there, done that 😄
Ana & her family deserves way more subscribers
My neighbor was just asking if I’d build a toy box for her. Thanks for the plans!

@@AnaWhiteDIY thanks for replying Ana. Totally star struck on this end. 😊 Hope the family is doing great!
Simple. Very cool and universal design: on the deck, porch, corner of the family room..... just reinterpret the finish!! Thanks for sharing!!
Glad you like it!

I just finished my cedar storage bench! For a beginner, I am pleased. Your instructions were easy to follow. Thanks!
Wonderful!
Thanks for the free plans. Especially for hobbyists from India it’s a big boon.

Nice, Ana! Simple, clean and attractive. Another true winner!
Love it! I am obsessed with cedar fence pickets! You can build so much with them and they're inexpensive.

Awesome Ana as always. My wife wants one for our patio cushions. Great project for this weekend.
Wonderful!
Love it . I'm going to take that idea with my own twist for the amazon packages in the front porch. Thanks Ana

This is just what I was wanting to build for packages! Thank you!

Wonderful, would love to see what you come up with!

Love this bench. I could see having a couple of them. Thank you.
Hermoso, muy práctico, saludos desde Santiago de Chile !!!!
Thanks for sharing your projects. This is a good beginner project.
Very nice! I like the simplicity of it and it's also very useful!
Oh my gosh! I absolutely love this build! Definitely going to build this on my next day off!
Thank you for the plans! I’ve been wanting to build on!
I’d like to see plans for a lift-top coffee table. Top down it’s a coffee table. Top up it’s a small desk
How easy was that. You're awsome Ana!
Nice project. Simple and very useful!
yet another great project. thanks for sharing.
Hi Ana, beautiful work, congrates
I wanna try this with mdf scraps I have around. probably will tweak it a bit depending on what I have
Awesome project! Great job!
Thanks for the visit Rob!
I love this, so functional and looks great too.
Great vid.. just finished one.. thanks again!
Love your videos ❤️. Great instructions for this beginner. Thanks so much 😊
Another good project thank you
Great tutorial once again! Do you have the cut list if we use 1 x 6 boards? Thanks
That’s an awesome easy build!!
Love your work 😉
Thank you Luis!
Wow easy and nice. Thanks
Great work! I could use about 4 of these! :-)
I love this!

Well done.
So cute! I wish cedar fence pickets were easier to come by in S. FL. :- (
Thank you! You can also substitute 1x6 boards too!
Love this bench!
Love it. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice 👍
Thanks for the visit!
Is congratulations in order?

Really nice !
Nice ,Do you have any project like office desk or shoes storage ? Plant vase holder or in garage tools storage ?Thank you
Great content 💪😎
Did you used galvanized nails in your nail gun?
Any thoughts on how you could make this more waterproof? Maybe to use it to store charcoal or even cushion.
I was thinking maybe line it with a heavy duty plastic.

Brilliant
Love!!
Wow ur so skilled u make it look so easy. Are u a qualified carpenter by trade? I would love to be this skilled.
Oh love it
Luv it! Tnx!!
Awesome
This is gonna be great for later. There are NO fence pickets available now. The mills all shut down for a while.
Did you get rid of your ryobi miter saw?
Nice!
Thanks!
Im gonna use it as a dog house in my covered patio
Which fence pickets did you use? Will using dog eared style mess up the cuts?
The plan calls for straight, not dog eared. You'd need to adjust your measurements slightly, or buy extra boards. Thanks for watching!
Please show us how to build a storage bench like this but angled inward to give leg space!! Like so: I7
Hi does anybody know where i can get cedar fence pickets in england?
Question-I know the Cedar can withstand weather conditions but what about the 2x4s? Should pressure treated be used if the piece will be exposed to rain?
Or use an outdoor sealant on the entire project.
I've never used star drive screws. Nothing wrong with them, i suppose. It's just i'm sold on square drive.
Nice I'd built to incorporate a cooler
Loved. But I have a question. ¿ no need sanders?
She said in the video she sanded
How rain-proof is this? Any tips on weatherproofing?
Ours is also under a covered deck, so it works great in this location. You may be able to run some sort of waterproofing inside the box to help.
WOOOD
Wood is deliciously adequite
When you leave the bottom open like that it’s more prone to bugs to get in there! I rather have a closed system
I hope you guys are alright up there. Did that EQ effect you all in your area. I'm preying for you.
"About $40 in materials,". I bought some 5/4 decking a couple months ago @about $7 a board. I bought some last week at nearly $14 per board. Have you bought wood lately?
I LOVE LUMBER
ONE MINUTE
The links in your plans for the screws you have used do not work
