Great tips on setting up the kicks. A lot of people can low kick a pad or bag but the tricky part is flinging in a hard kick without running into a check.

This is such a dope series, really loving the breakdowns of legendary techniques. Was having fun with the Tawanchai one a lot yesterday, and the Superlek tutorial changed my stance a bit. Look forward to practicing Liam's hops on the the bag. 👊👊👊

Hey, when you are holding for Tito's kicks, you are swinging the other leg almost as if to do that odd Alex Pereira block of a calf kick, though you are just probably doing it to reinforce the pad. I used to train with Rick Roufus way back in the early 2000s. So long ago.

Tito can you show us the dilemma Pereira creates with his calf kick and hook. I don’t really get the connection he makes with the calf kick but somehow he hurts a lot without telegraphing and once people react to defend he throws heavy hooks. Thank you 🤜🏽🤛🏽

From what I’ve been able to analyze, he stays in place like Liam, he doesn’t pivot his foot that much which is how he can do it so fast without telegraphing, and the last thing I noticed is the part that connects is the part of your foot in between the side and top. I could be wrong but he’s definitely not hitting with the top of his foot and it doesn’t look like it’s just the side of his foot connecting. Again, I could be wrong so hopefully coach here can help out

@@lavabender_taku yes I tried to look at some videos too and I felt like he connects with his inner ankle but the force somehow seems to go horizontal which I struggle to replicate. Like he doesn’t rotate his hips or shoulders but still the force goes as if he was committing with his whole body

Just to add to that: one thing Pereira does to eliminate the telegraph is he pre-pivots his foot. That is to say, as he's sort of finding his foot placement, he sneaks turning his lead foot outward and keeps it like that for a split second before firing off the kick. It's brilliant, take a look at his replays and you can tell when he is about to leg kick. The tricky part for opponents is the fact that his foot is so out of his peripheral that even though it's obvious you won't be looking down that far to notice. Something to maybe practice as well!
