Battle Alliance was a lot of fun, but I really wanted it to dive into the "what if" side of the story. It teased it so many times and never followed through. I want to know what would happen if Kamille saved Four or if the Earth Federation doubled down and said the Titans are in the right. What would happen if Heero died when he blew up the wing gundam? I think the story of Gundam games should be twists on what fans old and new already know. But I think that with AC 6 out, any new Gundam game is probably going to be expected to have some sort of customization in it, at least in the West it'll be expected.

Honestly the game itself isn’t bad but I think rather lackluster. Like the idea behind and all is cool, it just didn’t really peak my interest that much and while the roster of mobile suit choices was good it could’ve been better. Also the SD form, don’t get me wrong I love games like SD gundam g generations genesis and cross rays, but this game shouldn’t have had the mobile suits be SD.

I actually really that Code Fairy had you play as a Zeon pilot, maybe it's just my massive preference for Zeon ms over federation suits.
As for my dream Gundam games I have a two ideas.
    1. An IBO Calamity War game, I think the setting would lend itself amazingly well to a monster hunter type game.
    2. A Battle Alliance type game where instead of a Xenoverse "fix the timeline" game, it's a what if game where you get to see the story change. Things like:
"What if Heero wasn't made of pure gundanium and couldn't survive exploding?" Here's one answer.

Depends on what kind if full on mech sim they should make it like rise from ashes with major improvements, or for more speed there's armored core as a template. Personally for me i want them to do a mechwarrior approach where you lead a mercenary corp and each major faction has suits from certain gundam timelines like one faction represent UC mobilesuits, another represent AD, and one thats based on CE, Oh and of course Post Calamity suits. All of them with pro and cons.

I’m am going to say something that there is never never gonna be a perfect Gundam game there are too many universes to the point where Bandai themselves just cannot choose which one they mostly always go with U.C. Since it’s a much more easier choice and everyone knows it but the thing is in return some of the other universe don’t got the option to maybe make a perfect universe/perfect game we could do a crossover for example something big happen and all Gundam from main universe side stories in different universes all come together to stop this common new enemy. It has a story mode against each other and game modes so I understand that is something very big and something not too many people are able to do perfectly so I do understand why we only have game like these.
But it was still a good video Good job.

I don't know if anyone else wants this, but personally I feel a good Gundam game would have to be something like battlefield where you are actually playing as a soldier and not just controlling the mech. To me, a perfect gundam game would be a single player game with gameplay similar to Battle Operation 2’s, but quite a bit faster and with more freedom as to how you build your setup, since it’s not online and you don’t need to balance it out for PvP.
It’d be set in its very own timeline and it wouldn’t have Mobile Suits from anywhere else, since I think that trying to incorporate fanservice from all different timelines just makes it harder to have a good original story. If there were other MS, It’d have to be through the form of references, or at most, through a system where you can customize your Gundam with different bits and colors.
I’d also add some visual novel elements, similar to how persona does it, to make sure players are invested in the characters. Maybe the story could even change depending on the choices each player makes. Every route of the game would be linked to whatever central theme the story has, and it’d just add different points of view on that topic, while giving the narrative vastly different endings depending on your choices, making it potentially incredibly replayable

I'd also like to implement some aspect from SRW, in how the dialogue is handled and in how the pilots have their own rpg progression. Also, make the hand held weapons be freely swappable between all mobile suits, and also the pilots should all be freely swappable. Like Banagher piliting the Zeta and Amuro the Unicorn. And maybe, just maybe, even put Gilliam Jaeger and his Gespenst a guest.

Single player Battle Operation already exists (Code Fairy). Also making the game an completely new time line is a bad idea because that just places the creative restriction of adhering to the vague idea of what a Gundam series has to be, while also raising the sales expectations compared to just making such a game an original IP.

    • @San-nj8fj
      @San-nj8fj หลายเดือนก่อน

@@daveybentley9059 the problem with placing it on an existing timeline is that it also sets limitations on what you can or can’t include, plus, it brings the additional problem of deciding WHEN to place it. If a good story arises in a specific place and time in an existing timeline, go ahead, but I do think that a whole new timeline will allow you to write more freely, and it also leaves the possibility open for sequels and spin-offs in this new “Gaming Timeline”

I don't think there has to be one "universally good" gundam game, I don't think there can be. Part of Gundam's appeal at this point is it's so vast that there's some AU, side story, etc. for everyone. Most of us came into the franchise for different reasons with different entry points. As a larger fandom we can't even agree on universally "good" shows. There's no way games wouldn't be the same. I think trying different game series for different gameplay styles like VS and Breaker is still the best approach. And I'd personally love for some of those different gameplay styles they approached in the past like the grand strategy of Gihren's Ambition or the more space dogfighting approach of Fromsoft's Unicorn game and the PS1 CCA to have new games that are localized in English. Or try literally anything new that isn't some toxic games-as-a-service micro transaction filled wreck that they won't bother to keep going for more than a year.
But onto some of the smaller things mentioned in the video...
My problem with recent Gundam games has been a mixture of them having terrible monetization and them seemingly feeling ashamed of their source material. Like how GBO2 has gameplay twenty times slower than anything ever depicted on screen in the shows on top of being gacha; feels like it's made by someone who obsessively perused the wiki oggling every suit variant but has never watched a single Gundam anime in their life. Meanwhile Gundam Evolution has suits and stages completely divorced from their pilots and stories in a really sterile way. While I understand that fighting games are the devil, I do still wish that they ported those games to consoles or PC and localized them again. They have legitimate competitive scenes that even had tournaments at EVO at one time, that I think shouldn't be ignored. I myself really enjoy that they do feel like they respect the shows via voice line from the pilot's VA's and using iconic setpieces of the shows as stages, unlike Gundam Evolution.
I don't think there has to be or even should necessarily be extensive customization in a non-gunpla themed game. Gundam's identity has never been the same as Armored Core or Front Mission's. Part of the appeal is the specific MS that are iconic and that people get attached to. It doesn't really make much sense within the context of those worlds. Breaker can fill the building niche, it does that well. Closest I could think of as a way to do that outside of a gunpla context would be a Style Savvy-esque company management sim in the Witch for Mercury Ad Stella universe where you're up and coming MS manufacture for the Benerit group, creating MS for the customer's specifications, then controlling them in duels. But that's just a top of my head idea, and yeah obviously one that'd only appeal to WFM fans and maybe Armored Core fans.
I guess my problem with Battle Alliance felt tiresome very quickly since it's, like you said, incredibly grindy and how the gameplay just boils down to "learn the parry window" and little else. Even the story that was there I could appreciate because the mid battle dialogue wasn't VAed in English and stopping to read the subtitles mid fight meant not focusing on the action. I didn't like it, but I did appreciate that it was largely I could just buy and play singleplayer without feeling like it was trying to make me a gambling addict. And I also appreciated that it was trying it's own thing.

I know you said you couldent get Into DWG, but the game you described at the end there, was basically original mode of the 1st and second DW Gundam games lol. It even limited you to just 5 or so MS until after you had beaten one of the timeliness and gotten one of the endings. It's not exactly the same as what your describing but it's close.
Also in my opinion DWG1 has the best original story of all the gundam games in the west, with DWG2 having the best gameplay.
DWG3 and R are good games in their own right as well, but don't have the story from 1 or the expanse of Ms and map size from 2. Though admittedly 3 does look the best of the bunch.

I find it baffling that almost every Gundam series has intriguing plots and interesting characters, yet Gundam games seem to be very light on story. This makes even less sense to me since Bandai-Namco develops and publishes the Tales series, a very story-heavy jrpg franchise.
A Gundam jrpg (turn-based or action combat) just makes perfect sense to me. All the series have jrpg levels of melodrama and plot twists. The two things seem perfect for each other.
And you can tell a 100% original story with a Gundam game, considering Gundam has a ton of alternate timelines. If Bandai was dedicated to making a great Gundam game, they could dedicate a whole new timeline to it.

I agree with a gundam game in a timeline sorta set in the past of Turn A or its own timeline. However I want a story with some branching like i hear langresser does well. As for action or strategy both could go well. But if action some mission objectives like in srpgs and in robotech (screw harmony gold) battlecry could be awesome. While its an old game the levels are very fun baring like 3 which get brutally tough (looking at you Zen City. You need to be in a zen state to pass by with your sanity in check.)
I do thing a gundam game set with a protagonist throughout a long conflict would be awesome though from player power and growth. Like suits get cracked over time in the universal century and its one of my gripes with GBO2. The system fits for low cost suits, but 700 just don't feel how they should with their showing in their source material at all. Though for nailing that feel it would need strong defensive mechanics, high damage and part destruction stuff too. Basically player skill threading the line between life and death and suits being able to take multiple hits being rare unless they are of a superior model difference to who's fighting. But at some point even that becomes mute as weapons just catch up.

One issue is that Gundam is so diverse in its content. Early UC gundam would lend itself to slower, mech style combat. But then you have things like Wing and such with faster, more extravagant suits. They'd have to pick a style but would likely leave something out.
I just came back from Japan. Gundam Base had an awesome mech sim arcade game with two joysticks and three screens per machine. Also, the newer Gundam VS game was by far the most prevalent game in arcades. There were more Gundam VS machines than EVERY other arcade machine combined.

True. I don't see a way of making everyone happy. At the very least, maybe have a game where you start off with the slower suits in the beginning and then unlock the more advanced suits towards the end. And then pick whatever you want in a new game plus mode.
It makes sense that they would be more prevalent there. My perception of the Versus games is that they've always been geared more towards the arcades. Unfortunately for us... arcades are nearly extinct in the U.S. and almost none that are left are like the ones in Japan as far as I know.

I feels something close to Armored Core 1 for the main gameplay for early One Year War, while clearly making later and later suits (if only sticking on UC) faster or offer different movement styles to be closer to later games. You can always hand the story off to someone else, as From Soft story style is far more you have to dig in to the game's lore and piece things together... (Or you know just want someone video piecing lore together) and that would be at odds with to Ace pilots going at each other both in combat and ideal.
Honestly I would be fine with more mass up what if stories of different timelines crossing over, like G Gundam having Master Asia paired up with Wing's Herro. Weird as hell team but something just clicked.

In terms of gameplay it's called "Gundam Breaker 3" and 'Gundam Battle Operation 2". Mirroring GunEvo with limited suit options and customization is a bad idea because people should play a suit that fits their personality and thus bring in more players.
In terms of story, it's "Rise From The Ashes" and "Zeonic Front". I did get tired of AC6 because of the over use of bosses like from the SoulsBorn games, it just doesn't fit a war story game. But your take about FromSoft's story is pretty weak since the main parts of AC6's story would work for a gundam game ie, corporations abuse their power to take resources by force from a sentient fuel source.
Basically we need to somehow combine either GB3 or GBO2 with RFTA and ZF, which was almost GBO Code Fairy it just needed a more serious atmosphere and longer story and some of the more modern fixes to the older version of GBO2 for the gameplay.

    • @Mobilesuitk9
      @Mobilesuitk9  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

Corporations abusing their power as the villains is pretty generic at this point. Even with a company like Anaheim Electronics, and we often see it when a sci-fi work is trying to come across as more "mature".
Rise from the Ashes had a pretty competent story, so I agree there. As for Zeonic Front, although I agree with those who claim it to be a hidden gem, I never considered its story to be all that great. There's some interesting stuff like the creation of the Midnight Fenrir Corps and its founder, but I never really thought it had much of a story to stand on its own. To me it felt like it was relying heavily on the events of the series. I don't mean it as a criticism, since that's sort of what it was meant to do, and in that it succeeded. It's really a me thing, I guess, since I prefer stories that focus more on characters than on events. So, that being said, maybe the Thoroughbred story that is told in Encounters in Space. True it's still stuck in the OYW, but it sort of stays far away from the main storyline of the series.
As for GBO Cod Fairy... definitely a missed opportunity. I'll add to your point that a New Game plus mode that allows you to use whatever suit you want, maybe even some that you have in GBO2, to use in the campaign. Also. co-op.

    • @razorcrest9363

@@Mobilesuitk9 I mean, yeah... AC6 is pretty generic when you describe it as just corporations abusing power. But the real pull of AC6's story is the moral conundrum that the "Living fuel"/Coral provides to the whole thing. This can be translated and easily applied to a gundam story using either New Types or some other part of the lore as similar pull for the story.
I can say that I liked Zeonic Fronts story quite a lot since I also do like 08th MS Team and 0080 War In The Pocket, both of which are similar in essence to Zeonic Front for doing a sort of side mission esque story to the main 0079 story. And for the argument of making the hypothetical perfect gundam game pulling from those stories would help since they are well liked and already moderately popular. And adding to that with the gameplay it would work to bring in new comers as well.
I feel that Code Fairy was a step in the right direction because it had everything to succeed, but it got Bandai'd but by not having kits be made as full releases. The game is 100% deserving of a sequel in my eyes, even if it wasn't a success, it could at least fool the general populace into thinking it's pretty good making more content for it. People like more content per dollar, so going for that strategy would work to push the game into the mainstream.

@@razorcrest9363 I'm not sold on the idea of an AC style story for Gundam. AC stories always leave me underwhelmed. Clearly story is not why I play AC of course.
The difference is that O8th MS Team and 0080 had some memorable characters. Whereas most who played Zeonic Front probably don't remember the names of some of the squad mates you can select for missions without either going back to refresh their memories or googling them.
I doubt Code Fairy will get a sequel (fingers cross I'm wrong) but they can at least expand on GBO2's battle simulator by giving us actual missions with the option to have co-op. Hell, even let us set up our own missions with customizable objectives and let the community share them online.

I think your reasoning has fallen directly where developers and the people behind approving the feel of gundam forever.
You keep considering a perfect all-encompassing gundam game where that is impossible.
No one can make all gundam fans happy with a gundam game because gundam is too many things to too many people. What does the action in gundam translate to when so many characters are superhuman?
You're right in reducing the scale of the game to concentrate on polishing the player experience.

I am SO GLAD you acknowledged "we wouldn't play this if ti wasn't Gundam" with GB02. GB02 is just NOT a good game. If your not a gundam fan you would not even CONSIDER playing the game. The graphics are shit, the meta is annoyin AF, balancing dosent exist, theres no weapon hand-swaping even though every ohther good 3rd person shooter has one, the painting is okay but could be alot better, the PC port is hellish, and it's a god damn gacha game. If we had literally ANY other option we would take it. Give us GB03 for helldivers sake.
6:18 bro got too lore accurate with that one.

Honestly part of why I despise GBO2 is BECAUSE I'm such a Gundam fan. I really associate Gundam with very high speed mecha battles and space dogfights. With how plodding and clunky the game feels to control, it gives off the impression of a game made by someone who studied the wiki by heart for every detail on every obscure mobile suit variant, but has never actually watched a Gundam show. It really takes me out of feeling like I'm in a Gundam anime when the combat feels like it's made for a game set to completely different mech franchise like Battle Tech. And that's putting aside, like you've said, the gacha and PC port with constant disconnections.
