I listened to this and decided to play it with my friend. I told him to listen to it, then I asked him if he liked and then, i told him what part he was playing and he became really sad.
666NedFlanders yep, you're right. I'm a second violinist and my part can be harder to play than the first one sometimes. it sure is a challenge after all ;)
+Kami Kuma I feel like around minute 2 the 2nd violin has the melody and the first is kind of just there to be, like, Idk sprinkles to a cake or something.
Nobody should be sad about not playing 2nd. The 2nd violin part usually has the melodies. Besides, these are etudes, the 2nd part should be played by a teacher. The 1st part is mostly just technically challenging stuff.
I do also, and for me, of the composers I know, Wieniawski comes the closest to being the Composer for the Violin in parallel with Liszt and Chopin in the sphere of Piano.
In a small concert with my sister we stopped before the Allegro Moderato and made as a joke rock paper scissors to "decide" who plays what part. Was a nice giggle we got out of the visitors. For the 4th part we did the same thing. The spectators "knew" who had the first and who the second violin. Why we switched there. Was really funny. We messed up sometimes but welp everyone had fun.
Everyone's talking about how it would suck to be 2nd violin, but imagine playing 2nd violin with someone who can play 1st violin. Like, someone _that_ good. You'd be pleased to meet them
Please note the performers' name. They worked so hard to play so beautifully. It's really unacceptable to just upload the recording without even giving them a credit.
I like that... "overhauled by Jeno Hubay"(!) Looks like he just gave fingerings and explanatory text, he didn't change the spark plugs or install a supercharger, etc. far as I can tell.
Something I learned: Wieniawski reaallyy likes the type of chords where you gotta use 1 and 4th finger and scoot them everywhere until you are suffering in pain.
KooMoo haha good question. It is absolutely too large and composers write them anyway. You just have to spread your first and fourth finger like as far as you possibly can and hope you don’t break your hand in the process. If you want examples of pieces with tenths, one variation of Paganini caprice 24 has a lot of tenths, there are some tenths at the end of Wieniawski Polonaise in D major
Helena Singleton As a cellist I never understood why violinists complain? I’ve tried tenths on a violin and they’re so small. Even tenths on cello aren’t that hard. I think violinists are just used to having everything close together.
I agree that the second violin part acts as an important role in the piece . However, why is it so much easier than the first violin... why didn’t Wieniawski make them equally difficult?
陳敬智 because he wrote it to play with his brother. His brother wasn’t probably as virtuosic as him, so he wrote a very virtuosic part for himself, and an easier part for his brother.
That's why I always write my duets with equal terror for both! th-cam.com/video/0MYjMnP2rV8o/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/DMWK_6xXmrs/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/PDK6sPiOKuY/w-d-xo.html
That's definitely Zuckerman on his del Gesu. About 20 years ago there was a BBC TV program featuring Perlman and Zuckerman in Israel messing about with this etude and a couple of Leclair Sonatas. The first violinist is so dexterous and plays so much like Perlman, I'd bet on it. alan

LOL that's me whenever I'm forced to play the 2nd violin part for any quartet or duet :/
+Kami Kuma I actually thought the the friend was sad becuase he got the tough part instead. I guess it's a matter of perspective...
666NedFlanders yep, you're right. I'm a second violinist and my part can be harder to play than the first one sometimes. it sure is a challenge after all ;)
That's exactly what I thought my friend's reaction would be if I asked him to play the second violin, which I AM going to do ahaha
+Kami Kuma I feel like around minute 2 the 2nd violin has the melody and the first is kind of just there to be, like, Idk sprinkles to a cake or something.
1. Moderato (0:03)

These are probably some of the prettiest violin duets-and basically of all duets overall. Made me want to sleep and cry
Wieniawski's works would never fail making me feel happy and frustrated at the same time...
Why frustrated? 😮
I'm a simple man. I see Henryk Wieniawski, I click like.
Why no credit to the performers????!!! They worked all their lives to play so beautifully, and no names given?? Please add the names out of respect

@Lee Siheon nah, liszt is paganini, chopin is not like liszt, and slight resemblance between wieniawski and chopin. listen to more of their music.
9:30-11:19 the 1st violin is just kind of everywhere and the 2nd violin is just kind of... quarter notes... 8th note... pizz, pizz.blep

Hey, do any of you guys just randomly decide to write duets to flex on your brother? If so, you may be weiniawski...
hahaha
2nd violin part sounds beautiful and just both of them playing is breathtaking.
Wieniawski is a true genius!
This duet is a masterpiece
Sad that he is in the ground

One of the most interesting violin composition ever ! Одно из самых интересных скрипичных сочинений на свете !
Magical celestial music of unthinkable depth and reverberations and subtle melody.
Justyna Jara and Wojciech Koprowski - sure of it. Very lovely indeed.
If you ever felt useless think about 2nd violin in wieniawski
Bruh even thats hard lolololol
Tonal quality is hard. And also it has a very strong effect on the emotion of the piece. It would not be complete without second violin
Actually, the second violin is much more important, because it has got the melody!
Second violent is arguably more important at parts because it controls the melodic direction
The cellist playing Pachelbels Canon: Hold my beer
Please note the performers' name. They worked so hard to play so beautifully. It's really unacceptable to just upload the recording without even giving them a credit.
Very good sound recording for this mild duo !

I'm having trouble counting the "trills" correctly in the first movement... I could really appreciate some help.
Practice it slow with metronome on 8th notes and no slurs to get the rhythm. Build some speed, then slow down and add the bowings back
@shadowknight132 I think i saw a video of Marshall playing Wieniawski's op 18 no 4 too
It's one thing to play the notes and another thing to play it like this.
