I watched a video and you did plastisol ink transfers on paper to press on t-shirts can I do the same playing with water based inks like speedball or can you only do transfers with plastisol ink and then adhesive powder?
the biggest issue im having atm, however mine doesnt have anything to do with heat, even first press the black plastisol ink getting trapped in my 47t mesh. its gotten to the point i want to give up learning screen printing . ive mixed it with eggbeaters, adjusted different off contact levels, its really frustrating lol
@@أمسعدالدين-ح7ه Yeah something is wrong. Plastisol ink should not dry and clog the screen without any heat when it's fresh out of the bucket. Try a different brand of ink like mine ;) Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
I'm guessing you're using water based inks, yes? Because plastisol will not dry simply from the Arizona heat. You may need to use a spray bottle with water to mist the screens down now and then. Or use a humidifier if possible. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
Love the videos, I haven’t seen anyone address if running plastisol and water base together is possible.. the cure times are longer on water so would it not over cure the plastisol?....asking for a friend 😏
Thank you! Glad you enjoy my video work. I know it is certainly possible but I wouldn't do that unless there were some overwhelming creative reason to do it. Usually we print with one or the other. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
Very useful information as usual. I'm trying to get an idea of the running costs of screen printing t-shirts at home. On average, what percentage of ink from a 1 litre tub of plastisol ink would end up on a single t-shirt with one colour? I know this may be hard to answer as different artwork may require different amounts of ink. Would it likely be less than 10% or 5% of the total amount of ink in the container?
Yeah I'm no mathematician. And it's really not something you can calculate with any accuracy because as you said each design will print different amounts of ink. Each press operator will affect how much ink is printed as well. But I can say this with screen printing and cost of inks; quarts generally print hundreds and gallons generally print thousands. Furthermore if ink usage is a financial problem, you're doing something very wrong. Ink is usually a minor cost in relation to the rest of the printing process. Thanks for watching! @@CatspitProductions Thanks for the reply. I'm just trying to get a rough estimate of the cost of ink used for the printing of a single t-shirt so I can work out my profit margin when it comes to selling the shirts. I guess another way of working this out would be to see how many t-shirts I could print with a single container of ink and then divide the price of the ink tub with those numbers of shirts. That's probably the most accurate way of doing it. And also add the cost of the t-shirts themselves which I might be able to source from a wholesaler.

Which one? 3 different shops were in this video actually. Unless this is a loaded question and you already know the answer. I was looking for an intern. But I'm afraid it's too much business work probably. It's a trade off for help. I had a deal where someone would come in twice a week for a few hours and help me do anything needed. I saved all the screen printing shop work for those days but it included stocking the shop and cleaning up etc... But in return the person gets to learn and have full use of the shop anytime I am open on the other days of the week. Materials , electric and all. It didn't seem to work out so I doubt I'll try it again. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
