  • If you're looking for an incredible #albertahike in the Rocky Mountains during the fall season, this is it! Pocaterra Ridge isn't an easy hike but the views are worth the effort.
The Kananaskis region is one of the most beautiful places in Alberta and when it comes to the fall season, Pocaterra Ridge is a great place to check out the larches.

That's great you met some people along the hike, I hope to have this luck during my visit to Alberta. It'll be great to go for a hike with you. Once again, GREAT VIDEO with lots of adventures.

The “soft” pines are larches. They’re gorgeous in the fall because they turn yellow and lose their needles. They’re the only coniferous tree that is also deciduous! The needles are soft in the summer when they’re green, too.

Interesting! So much softer than pine

It's really amazing. By then, it should be open fully so you don't have to come back the same way

That was an enjoyable fall hike amongst the golden Larches. Very colourful. We haven’t been to Kananaskis so area was good to see. Best to do in fall not winter. 😊 Good to see Mia out in nature.

Poorly marked trails are definitely frustrating. Whenever we find ourselves in a situation like that, I've found that the AllTrails app on my smartphone does a reasonably good job of letting us know if we're still on an official trail. We've also found that it simplifies some trails, so the number of switchbacks is not necessarily correct.
