Linus in 2018 knew that hardware wasn't totally efficient and ready for 4k. However in 2019 the new hardware can run 4k well, so now it is obviously in need of becoming standard. :)

Well in benchmarks the 2060 is even better than a 1070ti the 2070 is better than the regular 1080 the regular 2080 performs kinda equally to the 1080ti and 2080ti stomps all the other ones.

I bought the 2060, without watching this video first, to replace a 1060. It's a solid performer, and beats the 1070 in performance. It runs alot of games in 4k at 60fps which is what I was shooting for, and alot of games in 1440p at 100+ frames. I like it.

Don't be put off by this review.. I use this GPU on a 1440p set up and it runs more than for most games, that too above 60FPS. Not many people game at 4k.
Yeah it runs everything cranked full hd above 75hz but u get some big framedrops very sometimes i never played on qhd or 4k but it seem to be very awsome so im thinking of getting a full hd 144hz monitor or a 75hz qhd monitor what do u guys prefere.
@VJ Lopena yup played cyberpunk 80+ fps and RE Village no problem, although in Village there were frame drops for a few seconds on boss fights but other than that it runs AAA games like a beast.

I bought a 2060 Super for $350 last year in March. I then regretted it at the 30 series launch but was content again when the scalper prices went up to damn near $1k for the same card. I'm playing 1440p max @60 in most games I play and am more than happy with that.
For the visual fidelity, I'd turn it on. My monitor's just 60hz so if I had an RTX card, I'd turn it on but only if it stayed at a framerate higher than 60 fps almost all the time. If it's not a competitive game, I'd turn it on regardless.
Well, that is sort of true now as with DLSS the FPS drop doesn't have such a high drop from what Nvidia showed at the CES press conference. With BFV it was able to have RTX On and with DLSS has the same or very close to the same fps as with RTX Off.

I gamed on a incapable laptop for the longest time, but it looked like crap from beginning to end, so idk when 720p actually looks like “heaven” I would describe 4K as heaven.
Its a mid-range graphics card and Linus is giving it flak because you can't get 144 FPS (on a 144 Hz monitor) at 4K resolution with ray tracing on? That's exactly what the high-end cards are for! The RTX 2060 is for people who want to play competitive games at 144 FPS at 1440p (so League of Legends, Overwatch and CSGO), while also being able to play with ray tracing at 60 FPS at 1080p for newer games. Games like Battlefield V and the like are nowhere near as competitive as LoL, Overwatch and CSGO because then players with £2000+ gaming rigs would have a significant advance over everyone else. So the RTX 2060 is perfect for most competitive players and even provides future proofing in case you want to play a ray tracing game for relxation. If you just want to play competitive (read: lower graphical requirement) games at 144 FPS at 1440p and can skip the ray tracing, then just get a GTX 1660-Ti. The RTX 2080-Ti is for 144 FPS at 4K with ray tracing on. Trying to foist that onto a mid range card (that is 4 times cheaper than the RTX 2080-Ti) is just ridiculous.

The vast majority of PC games these days are online-based and have some form of multiplayer, where people can compete against each other, however a select few of these games are so successful that the best players in those games have made it their entire career to perform as athletes in them.

Love your videos, team Linus! - but I think you've overlooked the fact that lots of people have been looking for a decent gpu upgrade that comes at an appropriate price for a long, long time, now, and the 2060 (possibly the 1160 to an even greater extent) fits that description like no other card in the market, imho. I'd be willing to bet that the mining boom and its aftermath resulted in lots of people still sitting on old hardware, unwilling to splurge for barely noticeable upgrades - it can't be just me. There's loads of people who are just not in the market for the ridiculously overprized top-end segment of hardware. Anyway, cheers - I love your channel! :)
Fall 2021 and this card is still more than adequate for anything I throw at it. I don’t game in 4K, but I can run basically everything at or near 60FPS on high/max settings. Setting aside the current shortages jacking the price up, the price to power ratio of this card was drastically undersold by this review.

The 1160 could be only for laptops right? Because I don't think anybody would buy a RTX Card if there is a GTX Card with the same specs and 100 $ cheaper.
The 11xx series cards will be released this year, 1160, 1170, 1180 variants will be released, just as there are laptop versions of 1060, 1070..etc there will be the same for 11xx, even though a few game devs are making support for the RTX, the card was actually meant to replace Quadro not Geforce

its actually not that random, if you listen it was an afterthought due to the fact that they forgot to mention the skews. They felt it was more important to mention it than go for perfection. They forgot, and last minute they fixed it. This isnt a AAA game or movie, its a youtube video. ;-)
It's pretty clear that the weird mixing is down to the use of voice over to adjust what they said after the fact. I'm also guessing that they didn't have time to fix it since the video probably needed to be uploaded.
Who even cares about RTX and DLSS. All i need is >144 frames at any settings while in combat to land those headshots perfectly. Ask me if I care about fancy reflections or shadows while being fully concentrated. 2060 will get the job done at both 1080p and 1440p. End of story
This is the kind of stuff I need to know. I'm still rocking a 980, so you think this will be a nice big step up for me? I just can't justify spending on a 2080 and the 2070 is only about 11-16% faster than the 2060 on paper but is £200 more expensive. Also how will it handle VR in comparison to the 980?

Well, I got this with a bundled computer I bought recently. It was either this, or the 1660 super on another bundle, so I'm glad I could get the RTX 2060 for almost the same price. I have no desire, nor the means, to play at 4k. Even though I understand that being a reviewer of latest technology, this channel aims to inform on top tier options, I believe we've reached a point where 1080p gaming is not only a standard, but a pretty amazing one with current standard tech. Anything above that, to play at 4k, is multiple times as expensive. And this card is definitely not marketed at top tier price(+$3000). The only criticism that I understand, is that the RTX technology on this card is "almost" a gimmick, because with 6gb ram, it will be almost impossible to reproduce RTX with stable 60fps. But this card is great, can play ANY modern game with ease at ultra/high settings (with, at least, stable +60FPS), and I consider RTX just a small bonus, that can be used in tradeoff with other visual options, or even with stable 30fps (with good frametime, its completely doable, just like it is with many console games, as long as you're not doing e-sports online). And I believe it will be future proof for many (4/5/6) years, even at 6gb.
for 1440p you can cop a 1070 on craigslist for 180 bucks right now and have 95 percent of the rasterizing performance... or for a 100 more you could score a 1080ti and decimate this cash grab, useless feature loaded crap...

@@thomasp818 I mean, the 1060 didnt have any other features compared to the 970, It didnt even have proper dx12 implementation but for that $100 you get DLSS, VRS and Ray Tracing. Plus the additional RT and tensor cores and a proper dx12/vulkan support over pascal. Also when OC'd it matches a 1080 in most games and in vulkan with wolfenstein 2 beats it easily

I had to roll back to a driver that was released like in October of 2018 in order to get this exact thing to stop (including random moments of the screen blinking black). Because of that, I'd say it is most likely nVidia's fault.
got the msi rtx 2060 gaming z edition. amazing silent cooling barely hit 60c under load oc. easily overclocked higher then the 2060 super and around the stock speed of the 2070. things built like a tank and runs all my games at 1440p above 80fps sometimes 100fps. absolutely love this card and nvidia is keeping their word with all the new drivers and updates that the rtx cards can take advantage of.

A year after buying it, I still love my 2060. I'm mostly a couch gamer who plays AAA titles on my TV along with some WoW. The 2060 is perfect for playing at 1440p60 (which looks pretty good on a 4k TV) at mostly high settings (no ray tracing though) so if that's what you're looking to do and find one for a decent price, go for it.
RTX is a card. Ray Tracing is a rendering process. Learn the fucking difference. And no. Its not supposed to. However, DICE fucked up and use CUDA cores for ray tracing instead of the RT cores.

@@grantsegesser4186 the 3700x is better than my cpu and when ive played warzone i usually get 150-200+ fps. But it depends on the graphics settings your using. Apex probably around the same maybe a little more. The 2060 is great. I have a 165hz monitor and all my games get 165+ fps with it.
1050 ti sells like hot cake in this madnees if you dont plan to play games like ac origins odesy you dont need more than 2gb ram 1050 is same performance slighty on others. and ac odesy and origins problematic on cpu doesnt metter you have 1060 still drop 60fps under on 1080p.
3 years later. I just got an ASUS 2060 OC Evo Duo edition used for 374$ in 2022. Amazing fuckin deal. Upgrading from a 1650 Super and I game in 1080p at 165hz so it's *perfect* for me. So no, Linus, it's not a "shit" card at all, it's amazing in today's market if you can find one for a good price like I thankfully did.
Because 1080p ultra with RTX on medium looks great even at 70 FPS in BFV and this card beats the 1070ti in most other games, at a cheaper price point. It's going to be a LONG time before anyone turns RTX on in a competitive game anyway, 240HZ at 1080p is hard for the 1080ti in games like Overwatch, and pros prefer all the FPS they can get, the premium on the 2080 and 2080ti is not worth it since the 1080ti is cheaper and can deliver the same 1080p performance for pros, the 2080ti wont do it in 4k and competitive games don't support Ray Tracing yet. This card is for people on a medium budget who want to experience the best graphics quality with all the new tech. It has the future support for Ray Tracing once other games role out support for it, it has more power than the last gen cards for a cheaper price, and it has the option to just turn off the Ray Tracing so when you want to get competitive you can for 144 FPS (Probably not quite 240 since it doesn't seem better than even the 1080 in 1080p).
Well, I'm playing on 1080p with DLSS ON (720p to 1080p) and RTX ON (maxed out) , the difference with the DLSS is barely noticable, and it almost doubles the framerate. So I'm playing Control with everything maxed out, 55-60 fps, COMPLETLY maxed out. I'd say it's a great card as long as you don't plan on playing at 4k and don't mind some basic DLSS. Hope this helped! :)

I got a 2060 on sale back in 2019 and haven't felt the need to change yet. I play the big RPG single player games such as God of War, Middle Earth, Rocksteady, Soulsborne, Kojima etc. I have been able to run all of the recent titles on 70-110 fps on 1440p resolution, which is all I need for my type of games. If you are a competitive gamer and wants more than 1080p, this card is not for you. But if you play the big and immersive titles on 1440p I'd say you are safe with the 2060 still. And with DLSS 2.0 you get even more fps for your money

It’s an ATX build. I plan on upgrading to the RTX 2060 and going to an i7-3770 CPU in the near future. I’m hoping this will be a good upgrade for me.

I bought the 2060, without watching this video first, to replace a 1060. It's a solid performer, and beats the 1070 in performance. It runs alot of games in 4k at 60fps which is what I was shooting for, and alot of games in 1440p at 100+ frames. I like it.

@VJ Lopena yup played cyberpunk 80+ fps and RE Village no problem, although in Village there were frame drops for a few seconds on boss fights but other than that it runs AAA games like a beast.

I bought a 2060 Super for $350 last year in March. I then regretted it at the 30 series launch but was content again when the scalper prices went up to damn near $1k for the same card. I'm playing 1440p max @60 in most games I play and am more than happy with that.

For the visual fidelity, I'd turn it on. My monitor's just 60hz so if I had an RTX card, I'd turn it on but only if it stayed at a framerate higher than 60 fps almost all the time. If it's not a competitive game, I'd turn it on regardless.

Well, that is sort of true now as with DLSS the FPS drop doesn't have such a high drop from what Nvidia showed at the CES press conference. With BFV it was able to have RTX On and with DLSS has the same or very close to the same fps as with RTX Off.

Honestly i didn't come across any issues with this gpu. While it does get hot, its not that bad

I gamed on a incapable laptop for the longest time, but it looked like crap from beginning to end, so idk when 720p actually looks like “heaven” I would describe 4K as heaven.
Its a mid-range graphics card and Linus is giving it flak because you can't get 144 FPS (on a 144 Hz monitor) at 4K resolution with ray tracing on? That's exactly what the high-end cards are for!
The RTX 2060 is for people who want to play competitive games at 144 FPS at 1440p (so League of Legends, Overwatch and CSGO), while also being able to play with ray tracing at 60 FPS at 1080p for newer games. Games like Battlefield V and the like are nowhere near as competitive as LoL, Overwatch and CSGO because then players with £2000+ gaming rigs would have a significant advance over everyone else. So the RTX 2060 is perfect for most competitive players and even provides future proofing in case you want to play a ray tracing game for relxation. If you just want to play competitive (read: lower graphical requirement) games at 144 FPS at 1440p and can skip the ray tracing, then just get a GTX 1660-Ti.
The RTX 2080-Ti is for 144 FPS at 4K with ray tracing on. Trying to foist that onto a mid range card (that is 4 times cheaper than the RTX 2080-Ti) is just ridiculous.

The vast majority of PC games these days are online-based and have some form of multiplayer, where people can compete against each other, however a select few of these games are so successful that the best players in those games have made it their entire career to perform as athletes in them.

Love your videos, team Linus! - but I think you've overlooked the fact that lots of people have been looking for a decent gpu upgrade that comes at an appropriate price for a long, long time, now, and the 2060 (possibly the 1160 to an even greater extent) fits that description like no other card in the market, imho.
I'd be willing to bet that the mining boom and its aftermath resulted in lots of people still sitting on old hardware, unwilling to splurge for barely noticeable upgrades - it can't be just me. There's loads of people who are just not in the market for the ridiculously overprized top-end segment of hardware.

DECENT? Not to sound biased but RTX 2060 is on par with GTX 1080 on some games.
Fall 2021 and this card is still more than adequate for anything I throw at it. I don’t game in 4K, but I can run basically everything at or near 60FPS on high/max settings. Setting aside the current shortages jacking the price up, the price to power ratio of this card was drastically undersold by this review.

Well, I got this with a bundled computer I bought recently.
It was either this, or the 1660 super on another bundle, so I'm glad I could get the RTX 2060 for almost the same price.
I have no desire, nor the means, to play at 4k.
Even though I understand that being a reviewer of latest technology, this channel aims to inform on top tier options, I believe we've reached a point where 1080p gaming is not only a standard, but a pretty amazing one with current standard tech.
Anything above that, to play at 4k, is multiple times as expensive. And this card is definitely not marketed at top tier price(+$3000).
The only criticism that I understand, is that the RTX technology on this card is "almost" a gimmick, because with 6gb ram, it will be almost impossible to reproduce RTX with stable 60fps.
But this card is great, can play ANY modern game with ease at ultra/high settings (with, at least, stable +60FPS), and I consider RTX just a small bonus, that can be used in tradeoff with other visual options, or even with stable 30fps (with good frametime, its completely doable, just like it is with many console games, as long as you're not doing e-sports online).
And I believe it will be future proof for many (4/5/6) years, even at 6gb.
2060 is undeniably the best performance/$$ gpu for 1080p 60-144fps gaming. No contenders. I'm upgrading to it from rx570.

Depending on the nature of the game I'm ok with 720. But I agee certain types of games should be at least 1080.
This. I opted for 1440p, 144Hz because I know it's ridiculous to expect consistent frames above 60 at 4K, even with my 1080 Ti.
for 1440p you can cop a 1070 on craigslist for 180 bucks right now and have 95 percent of the rasterizing performance... or for a 100 more you could score a 1080ti and decimate this cash grab, useless feature loaded crap...

but for that $100 you get DLSS, VRS and Ray Tracing. Plus the additional RT and tensor cores and a proper dx12/vulkan support over pascal.
Also when OC'd it matches a 1080 in most games and in vulkan with wolfenstein 2 beats it easily

What most people seem to want was some nice new cards to replace their 4 year old 900 series and 2 year old 1000s. Instead we got this early adoption premium stuff. Nivida could just release a 2070 / 60 GTX without ANY of the new features and it would sell.

wow, thank you for that xD I was really thinking to give back my 27" 4k60Hz for a 27" 1440p144Hz, but I absolutely need a 2nd Monitor for Recording + Streaming or Watching Videos. I had to roll back to a driver that was released like in October of 2018 in order to get this exact thing to stop (including random moments of the screen blinking black). Because of that, I'd say it is most likely nVidia's fault.

Rtx 2060 super is a great choice i bought my rtx 2060 super recently and its incredible

got the msi rtx 2060 gaming z edition. amazing silent cooling barely hit 60c under load oc. easily overclocked higher then the 2060 super and around the stock speed of the 2070. things built like a tank and runs all my games at 1440p above 80fps sometimes 100fps. absolutely love this card and nvidia is keeping their word with all the new drivers and updates that the rtx cards can take advantage of.

I'm happy with my 2060S, it treads on the heels of 500 dollar 2070 by only a few percent at a hundred dollars cheaper (400 bucks) which is what it costed me at the time before the miner nation attacked.

A year after buying it, I still love my 2060. I'm mostly a couch gamer who plays AAA titles on my TV along with some WoW. The 2060 is perfect for playing at 1440p60 (which looks pretty good on a 4k TV) at mostly high settings (no ray tracing though) so if that's what you're looking to do and find one for a decent price, go for it.
I feel the same, now that the gpu shortage has led me no way to upgrade to a 3060 Ti, I'm still happy that I kept my 2060 running well.

The 2060 is the best price for value in its budget range. With the right cpu it will run most multiplayer games at 144fps+ at 1080p

But it depends on the graphics settings your using.
Apex probably around the same maybe a little more.
The 2060 is great. I have a 165hz monitor and all my games get 165+ fps with it.

3 years later. I just got an ASUS 2060 OC Evo Duo edition used for 374$ in 2022. Amazing fuckin deal. Upgrading from a 1650 Super and I game in 1080p at 165hz so it's *perfect* for me.
So no, Linus, it's not a "shit" card at all, it's amazing in today's market if you can find one for a good price like I thankfully did.

Because 1080p ultra with RTX on medium looks great even at 70 FPS in BFV and this card beats the 1070ti in most other games, at a cheaper price point. It's going to be a LONG time before anyone turns RTX on in a competitive game anyway, 240HZ at 1080p is hard for the 1080ti in games like Overwatch, and pros prefer all the FPS they can get, the premium on the 2080 and 2080ti is not worth it since the 1080ti is cheaper and can deliver the same 1080p performance for pros, the 2080ti wont do it in 4k and competitive games don't support Ray Tracing yet. This card is for people on a medium budget who want to experience the best graphics quality with all the new tech. It has the future support for Ray Tracing once other games role out support for it, it has more power than the last gen cards for a cheaper price, and it has the option to just turn off the Ray Tracing so when you want to get competitive you can for 144 FPS (Probably not quite 240 since it doesn't seem better than even the 1080 in 1080p).

Well, I'm playing on 1080p with DLSS ON (720p to 1080p) and RTX ON (maxed out) , the difference with the DLSS is barely noticable, and it almost doubles the framerate. So I'm playing Control with everything maxed out, 55-60 fps, COMPLETLY maxed out. I'd say it's a great card as long as you don't plan on playing at 4k and don't mind some basic DLSS.

@@albertosimeoni7215 no bud the pcie slot is fixed it has 75watt board power what you are talking about is the pcie connectors from the PSU otherwise if gpus would draw as much as they wanted on the pcie slot motherboards would die. what i am saying is a card can use less depending on its tdp power state etc but the max it will pull is 75watt from the motherboard pcie slot. the rest it pulls from the pcie connectors from the PSU

I got a 2060 on sale back in 2019 and haven't felt the need to change yet. I play the big RPG single player games such as God of War, Middle Earth, Rocksteady, Soulsborne, Kojima etc. I have been able to run all of the recent titles on 70-110 fps on 1440p resolution, which is all I need for my type of games. If you are a competitive gamer and wants more than 1080p, this card is not for you. But if you play the big and immersive titles on 1440p I'd say you are safe with the 2060 still. And with DLSS 2.0 you get even more fps for your money
