- After a snowy overnight in a restaurant parking lot we head towards Cumberland Falls, Kentucky. We enjoy a hike around the falls then we head towards Alum Ford camp on the Cumberland River to overnight before heading into Tennessee to spend some time in the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. If you are still in the area here is a route suggestion for getting into North Carolina. Head to Tellico Plains, TN and take Route 143 east. Look for Santeetlah road on your left. It's gravel for 30 miles or so and heads deep into the mountains with no towns and lots of free camping. Some really great sites on the NC side of the mountains.
There's nothing like the two lane road. So much to see and enjoy. You really get to see the country on them. Safe travels!

Cumberland Falls is known as the Niagara of the South, and is one of the few places on earth where there's a moonbow. In the light of a full moon the mist at the base of the falls displays a rainbow. My family visited when I was a kid, and I was blown away even as a 7 year old.
Your videos are lovely and as a transplanted Louisvillian, you are showing me parts of Kentucky that I knew nothing about. Glad you are a fan.

11/24/2021 Just had your channel recommended to me. I’m originally from Manchester Kentucky when I was a young kid we use to go see Cumberland Falls and go fishing at least twice a month.

I have family that lives over there in the Tri-County area. Beautiful. Cumberland Falls is so much fun during the summer.
I apologize for the trail being locked off at Cumberland falls - they do that for the season, they don't want people getting hurt. Trail goes back a good 10 miles along the river, other waterfalls and an abandoned train bridge way in the back. There was another campsite just on the other side of the river but I don't think it's marked all that great. That pipe is water from the above road coming down. I spent many of my summers wandering around that area. Thank you for taking us durring the winter. Peace and light - happy vannin :)

My favorite channel to enjoy with breakfast.That has to be the clearest river I've seen in the east, usually they run muddy brown.So beautiful with a dusting of snow. Still dry here in the desert.❄✌

Thanks for the memories. My dad and I canoed for 3 days on Lake Cumberland 50 years for my girl scout badge😊 but I never saw it in winter.

I lived in Corbin for 12 years AVM, exit 25 was my exit too. Beautiful area with a lot to do.. I 75 from Corbin to the Tenn state line is nicked named Death Valley, to many fatal accidents. I am glad you adventured the area. Go back in the fall...its great !

I grew up in Kentucky. I haven't been to that area in a long time, but that is a beautiful area of Kentucky.

Cumberland Falls is the only place in the Northern Hemisphere where you can see a Moonbow😊 This is Gary from your 2018 Caravan group. I lived in KY for 23 years before I hit the road full time.
AWESOME ! ! This one has to be my favorite. I'll have to visit here someday! This isn't too far from Fort Campbell, where my son has been stationed. Thank you Brian for this one !
