Scrum stats are really almost worthless. They only measure if you managed to get the ball on your own feed. Doesn't matter if you're getting annihilated in the process as long as you secure it. When you look at props who concede vs win penalties at scrum time, I reckon you'll see where guys like Frans and Ox etc really shine
Only issue with scrums are the constant resets and the clock being on while it's resetting. If the clock restarts when the ref says "set" then happy days.
A few years back, Siya was NOT king. He was obvious quota player being groomed for captaincy Duane Vermeulen was the leader on the field and Siya was jerked 10 minutes in the second half in every game. Yes, Siya has matured as a player and captain, but he is not recognized as an outstanding player or captain by international rugby community. Refer to French club that want their money back which they spent on Kolisi.
@@hansdedipper2912walk the talk bruh. Siya was the standout player in 2017 under the sh*t Alistair, that French game where he bounces and then offloads to Damian. Siya may not be a flashy fetcher but you'll he'll always give gainline advantage, never go back in defence and has phenomenonal scramble defence aswell as underrated jackling. Richie Mcaw was great because he was a sneaky bastard who could turn a tackled player mid tackle so his team could easily jackle, Pocock was same just more a fetcher. All in all Siya is perceptively fast for a fetcher but most important he's captaincy brings gees or confidence to the team. Dwane was 2y longer in the Bok setup before Siya and understood the predominently Afrikaner culture back then easier, Siya may have been a bit uncomfortable and shy. Being a good captain takes years of experience. The French hate black exellence unless they benefit. Siya was also retiring last year after 10/15y of pro rugby but furtunetly decided not to as we need him to bring through the young players. Look at Moerat, no player turns into a good Bok captain on their first game that takes lots of caps and you first have to play well regularly. Some players arent good captains others just have that ability. Moerat was u/20 capt in 2018 go watch the game, they smashed Nz with Bok basics did a nice comeback too.
the fact that rugby league has steadily been overtaking union in the south pacific for two decades shows how new/casual rugby fans don't find scrums THAT exciting. perhaps the springboks' style (slow and physical) is actually turning audiences from rugby union heartlands away? Springbok/IRE/ENG fans get just as excited for a 3-point conversion as they do for a 5-point try, and so long as they win, they don't see how their cynical (penalty-focussed) gameplan is losing the interest of audiences who are familiar with the more improvisational, faster style of attacking play. after-all, rugby's professionalism was borne out of the faster, fitter, lighter sides of the 90s and 00s what will World Rugby look like when the NRL have completed their annexation of the south pacific?
Rugby at the higher levels are not played for entertainment. It is played to win. You can entertain the crowd for the the full 80 minutes and still loose. What is the point? So much for an entertaining game. If you want to experience entertainment go to your children's talent show. Go watch stand-up comedy.

Wildkard rugby!
Ox has a PhD in scrum, man needs tenure at the Uni of Scrummaging.
The scrum, a work of art, an integral component of a successful team, the dominance factor from a psychological POV cannot be put into a metric.
This clarifies my question in a discussion I had this morning.
Ox is a monster, he and the forwards need more recognition!
How has these tid-bits of the Bokke got 222 likes and 8.5k views after 3 days? C'mon Mnanzi, boost this channel! These are our heroes!

If I recall correctly that first guy spoke so much shite about King Siya a few years back.

Rassie's graduated from Dr. Rassie to Prof. Rassie
Rassie is down to earth, there are a lot of people in sports that are very arrogant.
