- Dalek Scientists have featured in many different Doctor Who stories across multiple mediums including TV episodes, audio stories, novels, and comics. So what's the in-universe history of the Dalek Scientist rank? How many different types have there been? What do Dalek Scientists actually do? Let's find out.

A little headcanon that I’ve mentioned before: I like to think that the Daleks in Death to the Daleks are members of the Scientific Division since they were on a mission to collect the minerals of Exxilon and then two made the journey into the city.
It would also explain why they’re fairly crap in battle.
this is widely excepted and I like to think it was the scientific devision that were the main dalek combatants in the 3rd dalek war

fun fact - “Daleks: The Astounding Untold History” confirms the paradigm scientists were responsible for making the Dalek puppets
(or I guess technically the nanogenes that *convert* you into a puppet)
makes sense given they only start showing up in the timeline after the paradigm was introduced
We need a Mad Scientist Dalek who is an anti-hero, it cares not for the it's own race or The Doctor, it's trying to create it's own paradigm of Daleks.
Yep a branch of Daleks that whipes away all other forms of Daleks and brings peace to the universe

It's been awhile since I commented, but my favorite form of Scientist Dalek has to be the Green one from the "Children of the Revolution" story. Primarily due to how excited and delightful it was when in the presence of the Doctor. Seeing a race of genuinely good Daleks makes me happy. That being said, do you think the scientist branch of Daleks lack in terms of fighting abilities? I can imagine that all Daleks have targeting computers embedded into their brains for adjusted accuracy, but it would be an interesting thought knowing that Dalek Scientists don't make the time to calibrate or improve their aiming skills because they're so devoted to their designated roles.
Dalek scientists are by far the most fascinating rank for me. Although they're not as prominent, they show so much on not only the capabilities of the Daleks - but through logic, their physique as well.
Its especially fascinating when they adapt, like Dalek Sec.
In Resurrection it is mentioned that the Daleks can come up with very undignifying ways of dying and in Manhattan Sec turns captured humans into pig-slaves.
I wish this tortureous and disgusting body horror spect of the Daleks was explored lore. Dalek equivalent of Unit 731.
Also being a Dalek Scientist must be incredibly frustratin, as you're tasked improving the Daleks in new and inventive ways, but go too outside the box and you're exterminated.
Kaalann only had one scientist inside that tower thingie, with the other research room having the eternal surprisingly..
only thing they did to be honest was just stand there and move their dome around a bit 💀
Ooh interesting, is that a gameplay mechanic (like a placeholder) or is it stated in dialogue? I was under the impression that all the Daleks in that section were Scientists, though admittedly with the lighting in that room its a bit difficult to tell the red Daleks from the orange Daleks. It could be that for gameplay purposes, they only rendered one Scientist because that's all that was needed, as while there aren't other Dalek Scientists rendered in the game they are supposed to be there in-lore, perhaps. (Sort of like how in Halo there are no corridors rendered past locked doors because they aren't needed, even though in-lore every locked door would of course lead to some kind of corridor or room)
@@dalekbumps never stated in dialogue I think, but he’s definitely there, I believe when the game originally had NSDs they were instead both guard daleks with the black dome, i could be wrong though.
the same could be said for the four strategists in the council chamber, they could’ve been the black dome guards too, but again, we don’t know :P
my favorite scientist dalek. hands down the overseer
The dalek that went "screw purity, I wanna tweak my DNA like I'm in naruto" and made a time lord ogron complete with regeneration ( reason being that wiring ogron brains into TARDISes worked but the interface kept screaming in pain)

Dalek scientists are really interesting and I do want to know more about what they were doing in a thing of guile also my favourite dalek scientist is the TLV scientist
I feel that there should only be one or a few scientist daleks and have drones be naturally scientific gifted due to the need for Daleks in the field to learn.
I would like the TLV scientist Dalek to return.
In this serial, their is a clear colour scheme difference between Dark Grey Warrior/Soldier and Blue Grey Scientist/Worker.
They probably have an IQ greater than Einstein & Tesla combined.
Mine is the death to the daleks, daleks as many sources and official books say they where a scientific group hence the change in livery.
I did like the time squad scientist, hes very unique in his personality. I havent read the books but i like that he seemed more interested in his work than combat. On the flipside side though as a scientist hes seems at times to be a bit limited or oblivious to the obvious
Why you uploading at almost midnight. Is it just something to do with the copy right system I've heard the BBC is quite a pain on that.
