Don't know the band at all, but I immediately thought the song sounds like the intro song for a Studio Ghibli movie. So it was kind of funny when you said that this is the title song for a TV show. Really beautiful voice.
Ayyeee. This song grew on me. But in my opinion with wagakki band on TH-cam, is kinda just how y'all pointed out. You're familiar with a certain sound from them because everyone requests the same songs for that "shock value". Everyone's done the same jams but their discography is sooo diverse and they have such a collection of tunes with 7 albums and a load of singles but everyone requests the same 3 songs. I highly recommend checking out all the hidden gold they have. ❤❤
Machiya wanted the song to have a different twist, so it would fit the theme of the TV series. There are two live videos of the song from the 8th Anniversary Japan Tour ∞ -Infinity- 2021 and Daishinnenkai 2022, and as always WGB is best live. The song is on the EP Starligt from 2021 and was also featured on their latest album "I vs I" in a slightly different version which was released this summer Wagakki Band has a variety of songs in many different genres, including pop songs. From the last album I can recommend "The Beast" and "Honor of love". But I would have to wait until they release live versions of them.

This song was for a tv series if i am remember correctly so the traditional instruments had very little sound
