Great video Heather! In regards to dedicated tire cleaner, what I have experienced by using one is that it sort of "penetrates" deeper in to the rubber and achieve a slightly better result than using Surfex HD. But this advantage is hence to that the one I used (ADBL Tire and Rubber Cleaner) is a solvent based formula, so obviously a stronger solution than a water based APC. At the end of the day, the difference isn't too noticeable and might doesn't worth to use one. However the benefits I like to use a dedicated tire cleaner over Surfex: gives more lubrication during scrub (easier to use), deeper cleaning and the main benefit what I have experienced and really like: the dressing lasts longer, I suppose bonds better to the rubber than applied after using Surfex. I heard great things about AutoGlanz Rebound on tires, but at the moment that's only on the shopping list :) Other than that, I couldn't clean wheels without using an IK Foamer 1.5 either, such a joy and adds to the user experience. I like it, I'm sort of close to upgrade to the IK Foam PRO 2, even if I don't feel that's necessary 😅
Auto glym tyre gel is the best dressing I've found so far, nice finish and it dries so it doesn't attract dirt. Bilt hamber korosol or wheel cleaner realy gets the grime out of the barrels. Great vid, keep em coming 👍
P&S break buster is great for maintenance, it's work on both tyre & Wheel as well it has corrosion inhibitor which prevents corrosion on break disk at some level
Have a look at the FlexiPads Merino four finger mitt. It’s far less bulky than the full size noodle mitt you use so gets in all the nooks and crannies, behind the spokes etc. I found one made a huge difference and they’re under £10 too.
GT One wheel shampoo is truly a remarkable product, i used it for the first time the other day through a IK Foamer & wash bucket solution. Tyres have that new natural black look & wheels look as new ( which they nearly are ) without using the harsher chemicals. No tarnishing at all on the discs when used with Bilt Hamber Atom Mac.
Really good video thanks. I've found using a thin pile microfiber wash mitt like the meguiars is great for wheels. Less bully and more controllable than the noodle type with less risk of getting the mitt on the ground and easier to get behind spokes and onto barrels.
I second the Rebound tyre cleaner recommendations. It's not necessary for maintenance, but for deep clean before dressing it's great. The rubber looks great with this stuff. Clean but not dry and pale or brown. I suspect it helps maintain the rubber.
@@AutoCareHQ While a good APC might clean them just as well, the rubber looks and feels healthier with Rebound, and that's what I dig. I do not know how it affects tyre dressing longetivity and bonding, but if it's better for the rubber's performance, I'd take that. Some people carefully use solvents as prep for tyre coatings and I'm not a fan of that, because I choose a healthier rubber compound and not affect the performance negatively for the sake of looks or easier coating application.
Great to do a separate vid on wheels. Have you looked at Atom-Mac to spray diluted onto your discs before washing wheels stops them going brown and unsightly as I could see on Mx5
How did we manage without GT wheel shampoo before.... it's a really new product that has multi use capabilities for the dirtiest part of any car. Tyre serum.... has made all my other products redundant.... and sold on ebay.
I'd highly recommend autoglanz rebound if you want to try a specific tyre cleaner, use maybe 3 sprays per tyre and very rarely have to hit it a second time. Obviously once you have a good couple of layers of tyre serum on you can stick with just the wheel shampoo like you mentioned in the video.
Nice one I’ll probably pick up some of that Bead Juice, not heard of that company before. Also how does the GT Tyre Serum hold up after being hit with Surfex? I tend to sack off dressing the tyres during the winter.
Bouncers do some really good products. I reckon Surfex would probably strip a lot of it to be honest but maybe if you’ve built up a the layers a bit more you might be okay
I use the P&S Break Buster as it cleans both tyres and wheels well. Once a month I use Bilt Hamber auto wheels also Think I might give the garage therapy a try though.
Nice video :) Using all the same products as you. However, I do use P&S brake buster as my tyre cleaner. Great product, dilatable, and good value in larger sizes.
Hi heather, if you do fancy trying a specific tyre cleaner then YumCars undress or Autoglanz rebound are good. The YumCars is more premium in my opinion 👍
Surfex edging out Zero as the tyre cleaner for you? Can highly recommend KKD R-Evolve for the wheel coating if you go down the new wheel and Ceramic route.
@@AutoCareHQ yeah I get that. Try Zero as a prewash if you get a chance in a pump spray. Certainly on something like your car that's always super clean you could run it 1:50-1:75. Based on a 5l that is a seriously cheap pre wash 😎
My products of choice are as follows. If I want a deep tyre clean I use 303 tyre and rubber cleaner I presently use Auto Finesse wheel soap on the alloys and tyres and sometimes in conjunction with their wheel cleaner or Angelwax bilberry wheel cleaner but GT wheel soap is on the shopping list as I use the serum presently. I use an APC in the wheel wells and dress them with Angelwax Halo Wax.
Garage Therapy wheel shampoo is my one and only go to wheel shampoo and in my opinion it is more cost effective to buy it in 5L form as it is only £22 more than 1L.I purchase all my Garage Therapy products that they offer in 5L form for that reason.High definition brake through is very good too,but I am a Garage Therapy fanboy.
It’s brilliant stuff, the 5 litre option is really good value! I’m burning through this 500ml bottle so I’ll definitely get at least a one litre next, possibly the 5 litre depending on how much I’ve been spending recently! 😂
@@AutoCareHQ Yes it is excellent value in the 5L form, but like all things it comes down to outlay and priorities. There is always something to buy!. Thanks very much I appreciate it! I’ve been impressed with everything I’ve tried from the GT range too, feel like they’ll be featured again in my other favourite products videos for sure!
Hi Heather. Do you use tyre serum every time you wash wheels and have you tried it on rubber door seals out of interest? I def recommend autoglanz rebound for tyre cleaning👍
I normally put a tiny bit of the tyre serum after every wash just to give the tyres a more finished look. I tried it on the door seals last week actually, looks really good! I'll be doing an update video on the tyre serum talking about maintenance and durability hopefully in the next month or so
Totally with you on #GarageTherapy wheel shampoo . Really useful and powerful shampoo over just using what you would use on the rest of the car . In terms of APC , and many will say its rubbish , I just use one from Aldi . Does all I need and its about 80p a bottle . Yet to try the tyre dressing by GT , currently using #Autobrite Tyre Gloss , leaves a more brighter finish the more you apply if thats your thing . In terms of protection Im putting EZ Voodoo on the gloss black alloys of the Adam , CS3 on the 208 GTi and my Mitsubishi wheels
@@AutoCareHQ Its on my " to try" list . With the length of time it lasts and how often Im able to wash some of the family cars it makes perfect sense to use something with a good life in it . Im low on 2 Sigma so when I order another bottle I will get some of that as well to try .
Hey heather, just a little question. Have you thought about doing detailing as a full-time job? And if no why not? You seem very passionate. Very good video btw 🙂
Thanks for watching :) I have very briefly considered it but it's more been a fleeting idea haha! I think I'd struggle doing it all day to be honest, but I guess it's something I'd get used to over time. Never say never though, I've not ruled it out!

Just use koch chemie Green star in foamer, yum undress for dirty tyres and yum wheels or bilt hamber korrosol if wheels need bit more, acid if worst case scenario on neglected wheels
High definition brake through is another wheel shampoo option that I enjoy, and I’ve used adams and yums dedicated tyre cleaners and they are good, really foamy and satisfying but pyramid citrus used neat is pretty much as good and cheaper.
Hi Heather great video 👌.......I use surfex hd on my wheels and tyres weekly but I was thinking of getting ik 2 foamer, you say its good? I think you can't beat a bit of foam for cleaning 😁. Does surfex hd work well in the foamer?
Thanks for watching! I really like using the foamer, I’ve not tried surfex in it yet though actually. It’s not the foamiest product so could definitely be worth giving it a try in the foamer to help it cling a bit more I reckon
Bouncers Bead Juice better than Gyeon Wetcoat in your opinion? They are pretty much same price for 1L, I need to get another spray & rinse sealant so interested in your thoughts.
@@AutoCareHQ cheers for your thoughts, have been through 2x 1L bottles of Wet Coat in the past, but looking to buy something again just for wheels, will give the Bouncers a try 👍
I would stick with one wheel shampoo. The hdd brakethrough wheel shampoo is not very good at all Also try Autoglanz Rebound tyre cleaner you will never go back to surfex hd
Also gyeon wet coat is a great option for a spray and rinse protection product for the wheels
