For new Accountants, or anyone having an interest in accounting. you can now sit for the CPA exam, while having only 120 credits as of 2024. By the time you get 150 credits, you can get your licenses.
meaning If I have 120, I can start taking some of the sections of the CPA, while obtaining my last 30 credits for my CPA requirement. Hope this helps!

Having being a CPA for many years and worked in tax consulting services at a big4 accounting firm, I can say it's not the easiest job in the world, long hours, demanding clients, lots of traveling involved. The pay according to your position can be very lucrative as in my case. But be aware, you have to keep up with the changes in laws, markets and events that affect the business world , not the easiest job admittedly, but can be very rewarding

Thank God we have someone who's upfront about how hard accounting is
Every now and then I get imposter syndrome because in my lecture classes, when my lecturer would ask us how everyone's finding accounting so far, people would just say it's easy, it's chilled, it's not that bad... and no one ever seems to be confused about anything
Thank you for keeping it real because now I don't feel like I'm dumb or something

I’m in my junior year and just finished financial accounting last week. 😩🙌🏿 It wasn’t terribly hard, but I definitely had to put in a lot of study time. I work part time as well but decided to take a leave of absence until I finished the semester. Working full time is a lot, but you got it! Just take it one day at a time and prioritize.
Edit: Also, don’t be ashamed to go to tutoring. I did a few times because I needed help, and the effort that I put into it paid off: I passed financial accounting with a 97.

Hi Jess. I'm willing to do accounting because I love the idea of being to crunch numbers and use my mind to analyze problems. Let me ask this. I work at Walmart currently. They pay for my education. I am going to SNHU which is a really good business school. I am going for a dual major. I'll have two degrees, a bachelors in Accounting and Bachelors in Business Administration. I'll have 150 credits, which is enough for the CPA licensing test. What are my options for a career? I plan to go for a masters as well. I want to be the best accountant I can be and definitely want to know I'm willing to put my mind to work and really looking forward to the challenge. Do I have a great resume with two degrees you think? Am I more likely to be hired at a better job?

Also the main reason why is because I am basically blind ,and I struggle to keep up with my science classes especially if we are doing lab experiments. Yes definitely! You mentioned that you are comfortable working on a computer and that you have an interest the interest in accounting so that’s what’s more important! Remember you don’t need to be amazing at math, just need to know basic operations. In regards to your night blindness and being blind in one eye, I don’t think you should let that stop you at all if this is something you really want to do. I’m sure many accting firms and big companies will have policies and procedures in place to accommodate you!

I will counter on the cpa and 150 credit hour expectations. If you are wanting to go into any audit or tax area they will push a cpa. If you want to do more financial statement or asc accounting or sec reporting in a corporate company they will require a cpa. I went into corporate accounting with property, gl, inventory, even revenue accounting they will not push the cpa exam or being a cpa. I have had many bosses with no cpa certification. You can make cfo levels in many small and medium size companies with no cpa certification. Plus the work life balance is leaps and bounds better.

Also, I am also wondering what level of math you would need to major in accounting. Hi, Jessi (i'm not sure if it's Jesse or Jessi bcs ur IG and YT handles are different so if i butchered this, I am soooo sorry !!!) Anyways, you've earned a new subscriber from this video aloneee! I'm currently in my senior year of high school and I intend on pursuing a career in accountancy. However, I have a few concerns I would love some help with and it would mean a lot if you could share your insights on them. So if you see this, I hope you could kindly take a bit out of your time and answer my queries (if your time and energy permits it, of course!)
1 - Would you recommend pursuing accountancy in the US? I'm currently finishing up my senior year in the Philippines via online schooling. My parents plan on sending me to a Philippine university, but I want to pursue a degree abroad. Also, if you have any recommendations on countries great to pursue accountancy, I would love to hear about it!
2 - Would you recommend pursuing a dual degree in Accountancy and a Tech degree (Information Technology, Information Systems, or MIS)? I had the idea to do dual degree as a means to prepare for the possible automatization of some accounting-related careers. However, I do have my concerns as there are only a few people pursuing this career path. I admit, I'm asking because I am a bit discouraged from pursuing it.
3 - How important is your chosen college in terms of accountancy job prospects? Does going to a good university really impact your chances of being hired in a great company/firm?
If you ever answer this, thank you so much in advance. Nonetheless, take care and keep safe! You're stunning as hell and, let me tell you, I'm so glad to see a fellow POC and a fellow woman who has pursued Accountancy and has taken (AND PASSED) the freaking US CPA exam! You're such an inspiration and thank you for posting this, it genuinely helped me soso much!! 🥺 🤍

Hi, So happy the video was helpful for you!!
      1. I think the US is a great place to doing accounting in- there lots of job opportunities here. Can’t really speak for other countries outside the US as I don’t have any experience with that
      2. If you’re passionate about another subject/degree other than accounting than it could be worth it! Makes you well rounded and May give you even more general job opportunities to work in either space or even merge the two- but you definitely don’t need a dual degree to be successful in accounting
      3. I think I mentioned this in the video, but I wouldn’t stress too much over the prestige of the school- I would say focusing on going to a good state school or a good school in your city would suffice for reaching your goals. Also confirm that top accounting firms recruit at the school you go to is also important as well. There’s lots of successful professionals that I’ve come across and they have graduated from different schools of various rankings. Take this with a grain of salt though, if you get into a great school with a good scholarship, definitely go- but I wouldn’t saying it’s a deal breaker at all
      Hope this helps 💕
