1:15:36 There is a plaque on the outside wall at Macy's about where you are. It commemorates the showing of the first motion picture by Thomas Edison in 1896 right in THAT place. A hall use to be where Macy's is now, and that's where the first movie was shown. The beginnings of motions picture industry started in THAT place by Thomas Edison more than 100 years ago.

it was an excellent tour , i watched the whole thing. i don't think the foreigners understood how very far you walked. most people could not walk that distance at all. it was a wonderful tour and you very much deserve the lovely tips you received because it was an immense undertaking. only a very young guy in shape could cover that huge distance. it was shocking to see how few people were out and how much is closed, some of it for good. i have been living in Manhattan for 43 years but never ever saw this level of dishevelment. many thanks. i ll await your new years issue. all the best. I enjoyed it even when you walked through the rain, I know that's easy for me to say but, anyway I love watching these walk through New York films there great I really do like them. I took a walk today also visiting the tree & Saks Fifth Avenue - just for about 90 minutes and the walk was nice & there was no rain ( not that that's a problem for me 🎄 )

Thank you for showing us our stumping ground me and my wife go to NY every Christmas from Florida but we didn't go this year because of the covid our Hotel is at the seaport normally they have ice skating at pier 17 roof top and the Christmas Tree is much better than that anyway Thanks again

Macy's always closed on Christmas and Thanksgiving. they used to close on New Year's Day but that ended in '88 at least in the Macy's I worked at then. They stayed open on Independence Day back then too.
