    When talking about the sights it's the 'rear sight' I'm discussing not the front sight as I incorrectly say in the video!

      Hi again Alan. It looks like it's made in Germany. Cheers Rob

      @@Xynudu Sorry Rob, I didn't see this comment! Yes you are right, they are made in Germany.

    The metal construction and weight are just fantastic, probably the most realistic looking, feeling, and functioning .177 airgun ive ever used. It even overtook my all metal gas ar .177 because of the shells! Fashion a wood stock and handguard and youve got a serious collectors piece!

      Yes it's a great replica. When they first came out there were several companies making replacement wood stocks but now there don't seem to be any available.

    The winchester 94 was also made for handgun calibers such as 45 Colt, 4440 WCF and 44 magnum, and has in these configurations a capacity of 10 shots, like the air model. A friend of mine uses a 45 Colt at the CAS, a commemorative model is housed in 4440 and 44 mag are relatively common.😉👍

      I think one of the reasons why the Winchester was so successful back in the 1800s was the fact that you could get them chambered in handgun calibres so you only needed to carry one type of ammunition.

      @@RetroSteamTechthe first winchester was the 1866 model, in 44 Henry flat, some revolver, conversion or open top were chambered in 44 Henry. Later, in 1873 winchester made the 1873 in 4440, 3840 and 3220, with the successes of this model, Colt manufactured its SAA in 4440, 3840 and 3220 for the frontiersmans. The 94 model came out well after the end of the conquest of the west but winchester has housed it in the same calibers, and other more powerful ones the action supporting these cartridges without problem.👍

    Hello Alan,
    Interesting video... went you took the cover off to reveal the gas compartment I made me think of the original film "The Day of the Jackal" and the gunsmith who made the rifle...
    Take care.

      Hi Paul. I haven't watched that movie in years and don't remember that part. I'll have to watch it again. Cheers, Alan.

    Really interested in this one! I am curious though how many shots would you say the two co2 cartridges gets you?

    • @RetroSteamTech
      @RetroSteamTech  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Had to say as I've never really counted. The rifle only uses one cartridge at a time so you do get quite a lot.

    Very interesting Alan. I have owned several original Winchester model 92's (pre 1900) and also a 94 in .22 Magnum and the air version looks very similar to the 92's. How they get the air from the cartridge to the rear of the pellet would be the tricky bit, given the loading mechanism is retained. Where is it made ? There have been quite a few excellent replicas out of Italy over the years. I saw a video the other day where you can now buy an air rifle in .50" calibre and use it for pig hunting. LOL. It also uses those air cartidges. That's unreal. I had a Daisy smooth bore air rifle as a boy. Does this have rifling ? Cheers Rob.

      Hi Rob. Knowing that you have several actual rifles I thought you might be interested. The gas cartridges load into a chamber, I assume there is a valve on the end of the chamber which is operated by the trigger. Then there must be a small pipe which takes the gas up to the back of the breech. This one does not have a rifled barrel as it is able to shoot BBs, steel BBs would soon destroy any rifling. Umarex are a German company, the quality of the product is very good, my Colt SAA is also made by them, both to a high standard. I also had a smooth bore air rifle when I was very young, I think mine was a Diana. Cheers, Alan.

      @@RetroSteamTech Hi Alan. Thinking back, my air rifle was also a Diana - a very very worn out one. Totally inaccurate and very low power. There are some really excellent air guns around now, especially the pump up ones. Cheers Rob

      @@Xynudu Hi Rob. Mine was exactly the same, the spring was completely knackered. It had a range of about 4 feet! My brother-in-law has a PCP pistol which is just under the UK power limit. Very impressive and very loud! Cheers, Alan.

      @@RetroSteamTechThe valve is operated by the hammer slamming on the Pin which released a bit of air to the cartridged BB. its truly Hammer operated, and the pin even looks like a firing pin.

    I love this thing but it sucks, in two cases after maybe 200 rounds it leaks, had it repaired and 100 round it leaks again. Very very disappointing! it great when it works, yeah just like my actual lever rifles except I've fired thousands of rounds through my actual lever guns. I can't recommend it. And Umarex needs to fix this, normally their stuff doesn't totally suck but this does.

    • @RetroSteamTech
      @RetroSteamTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear that. I've owned mine for about 11 months and have put several hundred rounds through it and so far no problem. Umarex have just released a Limited Edition of the rifle so it will be interesting to see if anyone reports any problem with that.

      Hi Tom. Just wanted to give you a quick update. Went to use my rifle yesterday and it developed a leak. The leak was from the valve in the receiver. I stripped it down and lubricated all the seals in the valve with silicone oil and it is now working again. Given what happened to yours I will be interested to see if, after a certain time, it starts to leak again. I do agree with you, Umarex kit is normally pretty good, shame about this one.
