    I have an econobead 100 on my pond. It worked well with beads, swapped to K1micro and have much better flow and it works much better. The biological filtration of the econobead is now far increased, with beads it seemed to just be a mechanical filter more than anything. When I first swapped the water lost a little clarity and there were fines visible, now the k1 micro is mature the water is much cleaner than with the beads.

    Looks like an immense faff to me. I use an oase drum at 26 microns followed by a home made k1 micro bio chamber then kintama balls for nitrate removal and finally a 1 gram ozone unit bubbling in a 260 ltr chamber at 3600 lph. Cristal clear at 9 feet deep 25ppm nitrate.

      @kenwynfoster1891 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Didnt mean to insult you tim. Just that it seems an over complicated system when drum filters can filter to such fine particles now. Unless the beed also deals with the anaerobic filtration for nitrate ???

    • @TimWaddington
      @TimWaddington  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@kenwynfoster1891 sparsholt college did a paper on filters which they tested for 2 years. Drums, chambers filters and many others including the Advanced filter from EA. They concluded that it’s factual that the advanced filter will take out down to 1 micron. The advanced filter was the best they tested by a ‘country mile’ when they release the paper I’ll do a video.

    • @kenwynfoster1891
      @kenwynfoster1891 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would be very interested to see that research tim. I do have to admit that even though i altered the oase 30 micron sieves to 26 micron i was still seeing superfines in the water. So i went old school and made a 3000 ltr settlement chamber before the bio and kintama balls. Im on 64440 ltrs in the pond the double width oase drum with 16 seives and two oase aquamax 36000 pumps.
      Ozone is magic for keeping the water that lovley blue colour but it mesns checking for peroxide production occasionally.
      Any way ill look out for that studdy on the bead filter.

    • @TimWaddington
      @TimWaddington  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@kenwynfoster1891 it’s all about the amount of times the waste passes through. I have asked for the paper so hopefully will get it soon. Anything with a screen will macerate waste into fines, it just has to catch them on the following passes. Same with waste smashing over a shower, it just breaks up.
      Settlement is still the best way of getting waste out, it’s just the room they take out.
