This is the nearest that any model maker has come to replicating FAB1. I remember getting a very close facsimile of the car back in '65 for Christmas. It was about the same size as the one featured here and far more believable than the Dinky model, which came out the following year. Mine was a kit complete with its own motor which you had to build yourself. It was disappointing that the motor never really did its job. There was a flaw in the design, and because the model was made of very bendy flexible plastic, the weight of the motor disfigured the chassis, and the body wouldn't fit properly. Eventually, I discarded the motor and made the car a push along. There were a few variations of the RR in the show; the smaller action models were the ones I preferred, their profiles were lower and "meaner" looking whereas the bigger models for use with the marionettes were a little more bulbous. Also, the close-up shot of machine gun protruding from the radiator does so through an upright rendering rather than one that leans forward. These are all minor blimps and can be forgiven. The show was such a revelation to me as a child back then... my life revolved it, living from one episode to the next along with my friends. Happy times😊.
I just love this show 😍 I'm still amazed every time i watch it, and always see something new. And i try to figure out how they did everthing because i will make my own episodes in the future
@HappyDude1 Back in the day, ITV made a "behind the scenes" film on how they went about making the show. It is readily available on TH-cam, and it features in the DVD set of the whole series. It's in black and white and highlights interviews with those who made it all happen.... very interesting. This was 1965...... 1965! Can you believe it. I don't think these special effects could be achieved as well today with all the technology available. Nice video btw.
@brianhepke7182 I know i watched it all 😁 And those guys that did all the work with the models and special effects also worked on the old star wars movies But with way bigger models and better cameras Its all thx to the team of gerry anderson. They showed that it can be used to make realistic scenes
Re antenna's: Get your Dremel out and tap two small holes, get a small amount of silicon sealant around base of antennas to help them stay in. This should make a permanent fix.
The original FAB1 (this one) is the classic and abSOlute best. I hate the remake one they really screwed it up. Anyway, lovely model of the classic Thunderbirds RR and a funny intro you collated/montaged too. Right then.... Ome m'lady? Yes Parker, Home. Right you are m'lady!
You mean the ford fab1 from the movie ? Or the cartoon version ? And yes this one just looks right the future look of the 60s in thunderbirds looks amazing tb2 is also very beatifull for such a big cargo ship. And thank you i'm planning on making some thunderbird short videos with my models in the future like they did in the 60s
I checked eBay and these are upwards of AU$300 to AU$900, not sure if they are selling for this but that's what someone is asking. No shots of the dash instruments so I'm thinking all of them are lacking in this department.
Franchement, pour une réplique au 1/18e, le niveau de détails et de finition est plutôt très décevant ! Et la pauvre Lady Penelope est vraiment enlaidie ici... Même avec un prix bas, je ne la prendrais pas !!!😕
I have one, too. I bought a slot car of the FAB-1 just recently.
What is a slot car ? 😃
Love it, can’t wait to get one
Weird to say about a penis pink rolls royce haha 🤣 i love it to its such a cool design

Interesting that there are no images on the dash, it has the places for instruments but no instruments. Gorgeous FAB1 .
Which image would you put on it? 😁
