What is he talking about? It’s a post not a beam, what the hell does that little piece of wood do. Skimmed below the floor joists. , which wall is bowed ? The exterior? Some random un shown interior wall.
Look again, it's an I-beam. Looks similar to the ones I just installed. 9.5lbs per foot. But they do have a few things wrong. As to the smallest lag bolt that should ever be used in a residential property is a half inch diameter which is a code in the international residential mechanical systems (IRMS). Not necessarily his fix. As code does not go over a structural repair. I agree the spacing is important. No more that 6' apart. But the one I just finished up. The wall was made up from 8"x8"x16" cinder blocks and I say no more that 4' apart (48").
How would you brace a bowing wall in a crawlspace with dirt floors?
Why not just weld a plate to the end of the I beam, pop a hole on each side of the plate and secure the beam anchor bolts. Less concrete work.
How much does something like this cost?
Interesting.. why would you tie directly into the joists instead of boxing it in?
too much pressure on the one floor joist. better to tie into multiple for a stronger hold
That basement has seen some days
I do not agree with the grouting. That prohibits any straightening of the wall. Epoxy injection in the cracks.
