I am loving these One Wakes, Matt. I've never really had the chance to getting into boating in my life except for a few times when I was a kid. So I'm really thankful I get to watch these videos and experience it
I think a camera by the exhaust and a start up before you take off would be awesome. One of the best things about Bajas or boats with big v8s is the cold starts. Just my opinion. Good stuff, Matt.
I love these boat reviews on cloudy days. It feels like being on vacation. Especially the nice boats you want but can't afford...not so much the sail boats...I'm in ohio and my neighbor just happens to be looking at his exact boat so I showed him
Matt, you would have loved my grandpa's old 87 Nexus. 35' and factory with twin 454s. She did over 70 mph on the water (you're a NY guy, we live on the Great South Bay) and was outrunning Scarabs and other go fast boats. We blew those motors and swapped in 2 more worked 454s, both had pretty big cams and a ton of other work, making her even faster. We never got a speed after the new motors were dropped in.
F the haters these episodes are fun to watch. Learning something new every video. Can you ship these shirts to Europe? Specifically to the UK? Or is it NA only?
Oh Matt.... He put's the throttle down and thinks he's done. I can see in the video, that the hull is listed to the left, it's "maxed out" at 50...Matt is wondering why it won't go 60's like the guy said it would....because it needs trim. He don't know....b/c he's never driven a boat before. He says he has (in his first One Wake vid)...but he hasn't. Then he starts....."doing donuts" Oh my god. Predictably, the boat starts falling off a plane...the guy has to explain to Matt that you need to trim back down for sharp turns. Matt don't know. He don't know b/c he's never done it. He punches it again...42, 45, 47...hull is listed severely to the left again....aaaand the guy has to tell him to use the trim again. We see a "fly by" and the front of hull is firmly planted in the water. Watching him drive a boat is painful. Watching him REVIEW a boat is excruciating. "I don't really know how fast the trim is". "150' donut!" Come one Matt...couldn't you do a trial run before rolling the camera so you at least know what you're doing? You need to get out of the boat reviewing business....yesterday. Additionally, if you're REALLY doing a meaningful review, how about some questions? You're with "Iconic Marine Group", right? Why are the brands iconic? How is the boat constructed? What sets it apart from other performance boats? What's their plan since no one is buying "Hot boats" or "go fast" boats, like they use to? Sorry, but I feel bad for Iconic Marine Group for wasting the time to demo the boat.
A quick Google search yields the opinion that it's for 2 potential reasons: being on the right side of the boat allows you a better visual of the "right of way" (which aquatic vehicles have to follow) and then something about the torque of the propellor pushing the left side of the boat down. Thus, if the driver is on the right, it might counter it a bit.
Maritime law designates that you must yield to the right when meeting oncoming traffic. IF you sat on the left side, you could not tell as easily if you are close to any hazards. This is mostly for the mouth of a port or a channel. Obviously Overtaking and crossing situations require different operational parameters.
Not sure if its up your ally but i'd like to see a review of a high end fiberglass bass boat with a 300 or 400hp outboard. I know they are old now but i always loved the look of the center console of the Nitro 911 CDC.
I hope when you end One Takes, you continue on your automotive journalist path. These videos make me sad because the BEST part of my mornings at work, are sitting down with a fresh cup of joe, a sausage, egg and cheese on jalapeno chedder biscuit from Whataburger watching a new and interesting One Take. So these One Wakes make me sad, not because I'm not getting a One Take, but rather because I know it's all slowly coming to a close. You are a master of your craft. I know you have made up your mind. Just know that (SERIOUSLY) the One Take series kicks just about every other automotive show's ass. You don't even know, man. Overall, this series is better than Top Gear UK, Grand Tour, and Fifth Gear. Matt, next time on One Wake, can you "jump the shark"? Just kidding, if this shift in topic keeps you interested in TH-cam, good for you and other viewers. Not my thing, but I'm sure it was a great video for the boat enthusiasts out there.
What kind of audio solution did you use? May I suggest the Tascam DR-10L for those kind of noisy environments? It's a lavalier recorder and imho very practical if you cant use wireless stuff. I use it for weddings all the time!
I want to know what the camera boat was. Seems like when they were flat out it just walked by them. Boats are so fun. Its amazing how fast 50mph feels on water.
Coming from someone who is borderline terrified of boats because of motion sickness and bad childhood experiences with them, this one seemed remarkably smooth at 60mph. $100k seems reasonable too.
Love the boat vids Matt (you want a beer get your own beer). Audio is not bad considering, but I think another way to combat the wind would be built in subtitles? Just a thought...
I'd love to see you do a vietnam era navy pbr. .or even the new riverine boats Your style of review is great and there's a lot of history and from a engineering veiwpoint theres some neat features those jet drive shallow draft boats have.. stars would have to align but if there's an opportunity it would be cool.
Ben Tucker the fast ones are, you can get much slower ones for much cheaper. For example, Sea Ray boats are more like midrange family sedan prices for some of their models.
These types of boats, in my opinion, are near worthless. I'd sooner buy a nice center console that I can fish off of than something small like this. Nortech makes some great ones.
I would really love if this boat should have some colors than just all solid white. You know, white with accent colors. It’s still a cool-looking, new one.
Baja is now out of business I'm pretty sure. They are pretty rare but they were good boats. The factory that made them was on my hometown in Ohio. My dad actually helped build these boats before they went out of business obviously
Well I don't see it being very long before matt has hit 150 in one of these boats. You wanna see some sweet boats come to Michigan Matt, there's some people here with cats pushing over 2000 HP and there's luxury yachts that will make you gawk.
Never...takes way too much horsepower which would price them out of the market.. this boat needs 750 to 800 to reach 85...they leave aftermarket blowers or repower to the customer.
@@autk what about changing the prop or the gearing on them - also - if u go to there web site I noticed they do not include the speed of the boats with there different engine options
@@JustMe-ml8mk props on the 496 mag HO like in the video are matched for power out of the hole and speed...if you get a chopper or a custom labbed prop you can maybe eke out 2-3 on top end giving you 68 gps instead of 65 but you sacrifice handling and holeshot ..not worth it...brute HP and an imco shorty lower or the standard Merc XR ..some use ext boxes but you lose the stability on the top end... probably the best is repower with monster engine 700-800 HP and Bravo sport master lower or an imco shorty...lots of dough required 30-50 grand ...or Whipple em with forged internals ..still lots of money 30k or more...some have bought used and slap a procharger on there with no mods....and you may get good results for a while if it was a lower hour boat ..less than 250 hours..but eventually you will have to rebuild and again more $$ I've owned 3 and the chase for speed is very expensive....
Chris you didn't even get it on the edge. You trim up the drive and get about 2 or 3 feet touching the water it'll do 70. I've got a 24 outlaw and it does it with a 7.4 lt all day.
I've done 74 mph on the water and it felt like 200mph I highly recommend it to anyone !
I am absolutely LOVING these one wakes!! Hope they continue. What an awesome boat. And a better price than I was expecting.

OMG
"Speed"** That means sound is rolling
Now thats what I'm talking about. Really enjoyed that one compared to the other boats. Do more! Thanks for doing what you do.
every boat owner needs to tell Matt to use the trim.
I am loving these One Wakes, Matt. I've never really had the chance to getting into boating in my life except for a few times when I was a kid. So I'm really thankful I get to watch these videos and experience it

Drive by shots are a neat addition!
The Smoking Propeller
Andres Banuelos damn, beat me to it.
The Cavitating Props :)
nice looking boat!!
That was one of the most nervous salesmen I've ever seen LOL.
kept taken his hand off the wheel
How much cocaine can be stored on the boat
enough to get you 30 years plus..It has options for multiple pop up mini guns.
Lol
Cocainum
Most important question for this type of boat.
Very important question. We must know the answer.

Getting better Matt, we are not at Nutty yet but closer. Love Baja boats
Sounds like you've really got the audio situation nailed down pretty well now. Keep these coming!
Matt, i'd love to see you review some old school jet boats! My '77 Hawaiian was clocked at 79 MPH by DNR. I sadly Don't own it anymore.
Is that because DNR clocked you going 79mph?
Patrick Jadwin Yes, with radar.
Formula is an outstanding choice!
I've got a 21' Baja from 1998. It's incredible to see how far these boats have come, but insane to see how EXPENSIVE they've gotten...

Pretty sure he has been sailing his whole life not driving high powered boats. Don't like it, don't watch it.
Ayuh. "not driving high powered boats" is pretty much what I said...right? Trust me; I won't watch any more, but thanks for the valuable tip.
Thomas Kendrick bro what the fuck 😂 just read a book of you bitching at a guy driving a boat smh
@@henrycarpenter4980 That was "a book" for you huh? Your throwing in your 0.01 now? 2 years later? Now it my turn to "smh".
Thomas Kendrick Oh Thomas....
I had the 20 year old version and it was amazing I can only imagine how great this boat is.
Hey so you get cloudy days in South Carolina as well as we do here in the UK. Great. Don't feel so bad now. Great video :)
It wasn't until the shot at 6:15 I really started to appreciate these One Wakes.
Matt review a drag racing boat next like a Sanger flat bottom >:D
How come most boats are "right hand drive" even in the US etc?
What an astute observation
cbcsmithers thanks... 😂😂 seriously though, is there a reason?

Because you control the throttle controller with your right hand!

Edit: Matt is a nice guy and is trying his best to run the boat. Thanks for the video, keep up the good work.
I always liked the tshirt color trick and throw! great video Mat, more powerboats are welcome
I hope you drove a fountain! Next time you come out give morehead a try! Maybe bluewater yacht sales can help you.
Harrison Wilson He did. My boy works for them and helped with these. It should be coming up. It looks like the chase boat was the fountain.
Talmadge Gardner yeah I noticed that it outran the other boat for that one shot 😂

how many times can he take BOTH hands off the wheel??!?!!! @ 60MPH . What a complete jackwagon.
Please keep doing these! They are great!
The Baja sure looks like a great boat!
How about a review of the best towns and cities for pub crawls
Holy cow driving so fast over water without a roof must be an amazing feeling.

I want to know what the camera boat was. Seems like when they were flat out it just walked by them. Boats are so fun. Its amazing how fast 50mph feels on water.
andybob1001 looks like a Fountain center console. With triple Verados it's a faster boat.
I've done 110mph on a tunnel ram with duel supercharged big blocks. Insane!
Crossed Rifles jesus. I'd imagine that'd actually be kind of scary haha. How was she on fuel?
The great thing about supercharged big blocks is they are super easy on gas. You hardly ever have to fill it up. Just sprinkle some crack on it...
777jones Open and shut case Johnson.
New channel name for this segment.
" The Flapping Propeller"
You're welcome Matt.
I hope it's donzi next, looked at iconic's site and those were easily the best looking to me
Damn that's a beautiful boat. I can't wait to own mine. Next best thing to flying.
Coming from someone who is borderline terrified of boats because of motion sickness and bad childhood experiences with them, this one seemed remarkably smooth at 60mph. $100k seems reasonable too.
Matt you never use the trim until someone tells you I know nothing about boats but damn I learn when u do
Thanks for these I'm really enjoying them
Saw you at south beach Miami couple of weeks ago in a grey Lamborghini just wondering when the vid will go up.
Wish you still did these
Love the boat vids Matt (you want a beer get your own beer). Audio is not bad considering, but I think another way to combat the wind would be built in subtitles? Just a thought...
built in subtitles would literally take hours, which is not worth it for a video that makes, optimistically, a hundred bucks.
Finally a big fast boat awesome
Matt you should review the Riva Aquarama
Love the boat videos 👍🏻
Did I here him say Donzi? I can't wait for that video, love me some Donzies!

i wanna see matt in one of them 26-28ft dual engine jet boats going up the snake river, or an outlaweagle race boat on the salmon river.
looks like a really cool boat!
Hey Matt- looking forward to the Donzi. Will you be driving the fountain too ?
That big block sounds ok as you go by, but I think it needs some zoomies!! Lol
If you can afford a big house on the water with a dock and boat launch, $100,000 is chump change.
Serious question. How and why do you go from cars to boats...
Does it have the sport stopping package? 6 Piston calipers with ceramic breaks
Why it always cloudy in these one wakes
Did anyone notice the camera boat passing The Baha on the right?
Sounds great! What is its range going fast?
when are are you doing your first plane One take Matt?
... that's a beauty my friend
That salesman was shitting his pants.
Great ride
why are boats so expensive?
Ben Tucker the fast ones are, you can get much slower ones for much cheaper. For example, Sea Ray boats are more like midrange family sedan prices for some of their models.
luxury item prices + low volume = good profits
You can wait 3 years and this boat will be less than half price, boats are literally the worst investments
These types of boats, in my opinion, are near worthless. I'd sooner buy a nice center console that I can fish off of than something small like this. Nortech makes some great ones.
bryant ski boats will almost go that fast, new ones might actually be that fast. They are no where near $100,000 and the build quality is stellar.
I would really love if this boat should have some colors than just all solid white. You know, white with accent colors. It’s still a cool-looking, new one.
What prop is on this boat ? I have a similar model and it came with a 15-5/8 x23 pitch 3 blade.. I dont think is the right pitch.
these videos always remind me of driving my boats on GTA 5
When will you start the pastry reviews? #OneBake
Awesome shirts
Might as well review land, sea AND air. So now when can we expect small aircraft reviews? One Take-Offs, perhaps?
oh! so it's the new Hellcat!!
That's 57!
That's 59!
Skater owner: Here's 155!.

I like how the center console biat was pull away from the baja
that things sick
Can this be used in semi rough water/chop? near the Caribbean islands?/
Hey, this is what i wanted to see as soon as i saw the first one wake.
Can't wait for the Donzi review
man, that water's NASTY
braapmasterflex exactly what I was thinking, looks like they're on sewer water.
braapmasterflex as soon as they took off I was like WTF! That shit is green. Wouldn't put my 100k boat in that
High algae content. Probably a lot of fish too.
Sewer water would be brown.
Kevin Smith its brackish water (salt/fresh mix)
Oh, look... a tucked engine bay! Haha.
Need a Donzi video, such classic boats.
We've got a Donzi coming up in 2 weeks!
When is Baja going to get them smaller outlaws up to 85 + MPH

That boat seems pretty pricey at 100k for what you get. Looks pretty bare and strip down . I thought it would be closer to 75.
