Depreciation is not a reason for regret, if you like your car and plan on keeping it. The real problem with people in Canada, and Westerners in general, is that you like changing things all the time: your cars, your homes, your spouses…
so true and I laughed when you said spouse because that’s how it is
People in norther America and westerners are not stupid.
I agree. Just buy a car you like, do regular maintenance, and keep it until it stops working for you. Most cars last for over 20 years if you take care of them properly
Thanks, other people benefit so much from the great wisdom of a 12 yr old.
Hey you only live this life once.
The Maserati might have a Trident on the front, but most people I know who own them say after many repairs, it’s a pitchfork you want to fall on!
Ha ha ha ha😄
Pitchfork or trident, peel off the logo from the front of the car and the car already depreciates by 90%. (The other 10 % of the car’s value is hidden in the logo on the back).
You should do a list of the worst deprecation on EV’s. I’m currently seeing some 1-2 year old EV’s like the Audi E Tron and Mercedes EQS sell on the used market for 50% of its original asking price.
Useless cars, $100k MSRP and less than 200 miles range, plus the famous German reliability. You would be a fool to get them used.
@@knightride9635 I totally agree about the range, but these are some pretty high end models, so it's still very surprising to see them drop in value so quickly.
Nobody buying them. There is no want
The market determines true vale. Prices inflated to make some ppl feel special and make the product feel more prestigious than what it really is
Same goes for Teslas prior to huge price drops. Had a Y on order but canceled. 3 months later it dropped 15k
What happened to your catchphrase 'let's get into it now'
I got everyone at work saying it. Lol
people that buy all these type cars are usually affluent folks that only keep them for a few years. its the poorer people that should be buying a camry new but think they look cool in a pricey luxury car are the ones who go broke owning these cars.
The last Maserati would look great on your front yard as a lawn ornament
I see so many '22 models from Alfa Romeo priced nearly 50% off msrp. They always seem to be fleet cars with low miles.
IT's amazing the exact cars are at the lot you happen to summarize, and you happen to know extreme information on each brand.
Thanks for watching
I’m sure this guy is not that smart. Get, he owns MB. He does do his homework tho… I’ll give him that.
Always exceptional content. Thank you always for your video Mark.
Beware if you buy a honda pilot make sure it gets 3000 mile oil changes if it's towing. And it's probably a good idea to use prolong oil additive in the honda pilots oil changes.
My 2009 Q7 still going strong at 186,000 miles. Had Nissan and American cars before and didn’t last that much.
Nissan? American? You are clueless
@@jorgemoro5476You've made a fool of yourself, haven't you.
My BMW still going strong! 🥴

🇨🇦Great review Mark ❤ it’s always an education 🇨🇦
Awesome job
Hi Mark! What do you think for Jaguar FPACE? I have a 2019 prestige
So certain if not all manufacturers set consumers up for major depreciation & common repairs that are costly…
That green Maserati Levante is stunning 💚
Not when it's broken down all the time
@greathey1234 as a second vehicle, I just buy a warranty on these from a third party and I don't worry about it
They don't break down...listen to the car wizard...I can't find fault with mine
I fit into the ‘buy it used’ category. As a former 7-Series owner, it literally hurts to think that the original owner paid well into the 6-figures (new). Sure … maintenance was pricey-enough… but it was so worth it. I’d do the same purchase again. New? Insanely overpriced. But there are deals (used/CPOs) everywhere on them. Thanks for the video.
Great video
Thank you
I've started watching you at the start of the pandemic and you've become one of my fav along with Raiti. Honest no BS just tells it like it is instead of all these out of touch presenters. I own a Euro as well but I'm not one of these deluded "oh mines still running after 1 million miles" 😂 . Apparently anecdotal evidence is beyond peoples understanding but good for them.
As always great vid. I have an opportunity to purchase a 2014 BMW Z4….mint!!! 30,000 miles. Never owned a “Beemer”……is this one of the good ones?!?
Love seeing these vehicles in the snow.
I know right, that’s the real world up north and not just some glossy showroom.
Hi Sir pls make a video about Toyota corolla 1.4 years 2003 and Toyota avensis 2.0 D 2011 thanks a lot for your great informative videos 👍 pls keep going on well done 👏 ✔ 👍
I bought a 2021 BMW 740i is this something i should be celebrating the deal i got on it or trading it in before i have a problem? (So far so good and love the red interior rare spec on a 7 series)
I have the X5 M50i, same as the one shown in video, at 21k miles it's still performing flawlessly, and I use it to tow my Mazda and Honda race cars to race tracks along the east coast. I'm not sure about how expensive maintenance would cost down the road, but I perform my own or bring my cars to my friend's shop to have those taken care of. Depending on how you drive a car, or any car, proper maintenance is key to keep their longevity going, but I do agree with the presenter, that some cars are poorly engineered and put together. Choose wisely and do your maintenance.
Nice
I like the fact you refer to it as a pitch fork.😅😅😅
Do you think the Mercedes Benz hot V8 (M177), is a better option to the BMW M hot V8?
Recently, Maserati quality has actually improved significantly. But only just the past 2 yrs. Hopefully they keep it up, because anything before '21 and they're garbage used.
The white Jaguar is a bore to look at. I can't imagine why anyone would want to throw away their money on that one.
This Jaguar XF X260 is timelessly beautiful. The previous generation's LCI variant (X250) is more characterful and just as timelessly beautiful.
To answer your question beauty is in tbe eye of the beholder.
I have a 2016 A7; had it for 5 years. So far no issues, runs like a charm.
Which would be the best value for Audi for city use?
A great alternative to the X5 would be the Mazda CX-90 with that straight six. Ooooh. What a sexy machine.
initially thought the Infinity was a Chery, the badges are so similar, neither are very common in this part of the world
BMW also has the greatest cost of repairs and looks great behind a tow truck
I seen alot of M550xis on the lot now are they reliable sleeper cars..asking for a friend 🤔
What causes unreliability in the production of a new car ? Is it the design, using cheaper materials, manufacturing, or maybe quality control. I suppose it could be all four.
Good morning. It’s a combo of history, reputation, and the obvious decline in reli polity by most manufacturers tires especially where ICE is concerned as the transition to newer tech is on the forefront a d the assumption but OEMs is most people will throw away their cars in short order.
Cylinder deactivation, turbos
@@ECPP Thanks for the comment Mark. But why do you think there is such a disparity between brands, if they are all cost saving ?
Technology might be the problem. Vehicles are made by robots. However, I’m not sure how much inspection on quality control is actually taking place. I would have loved to actually gone to a manufacturing facility to see how a vehicle is built from start to finish including the paint process as well. I would have loved to know all the details as to the type of tires, moonroof, stereo system, AWD systems and the rest of the details. Safety Equipment that is now a huge part of what goes into the design of the vehicle too. Another crucial feature is the battery that has become extremely pricey & also very dangerous to buyer’s. Why isn’t the manufacturer’s alerting the customer’s danger’s of battery fire’s, electrocution, hydrogen & the explosion of those vehicles. Battery costs to replace in 2 Kia SUV’s were $60K. They were both the same Kia Models in Canada. Forgive me forgetting the model name’s. I believe the original sticker price was $50K. This story was investigated & is true by a husband & wife duo. They had a conversation with the Manufacturing Company. I refuse to buy a SUV. It’s a ploy from the Auto Industry to make Outrageous Money from the Consumer. I have a 2018 Lincoln MKZ 2.0T Reserve AWD. It’s fully equipped. It’s Ruby Red Metallic. I’ve had it for 2 years. Lincoln discontinued their car line in 2019. They stopped their Continental as well. Ford has kept their Ford Mustang as their only Car. Lincoln is the luxury brand of Ford. Ford discontinued all of their cars. Chrysler & Chevrolet did the same & kept their Sports Cars. The only problem I’m having is my battery keeps dying. I spent $300.00 dollars for my new battery a month ago. It was Inspection & Battery. Majority price is battery. In all of my years as a car owner I’ve never paid that much money for a battery. My 2011 MKZ V6 battery wasn’t that expensive. It was difficult jumpstarting the battery. It appears to be the negative connection that seems to be the issue. I seriously love my car. I love getting on the throttle & being pinned in my seat. Never had a Turbo 4 do that to me before. V6, V8 (Pontiac TransAm 400 Engine) 1978. This is a first. I live in a snow belt region. 1st time owning AWD. I swear my car is fun to drive. I don’t know the engine size nor pound feet of torque.
190k for a dressed up Chrysler purely insane!
It really is
My favorite rhyme is "fast, but won't last "

Damn, I bought a 2019 x5 xdrive40i pre-owned (just got this it last year). Hoping got the best, so far so good,
It’s got the Supra motor in it b58
Mr. ExoticCar, I am the person you are describing. Six months ago, I picked up an Audi Q5 premium plus 2019. 25,000 miles on the clock . New 50,000 usd. Used 28,000. I feel what a deal. I could not be more happy with a purchase. So fun to drive and very peppy with the 2.0 turbo, virtual cockpit, dual clutch transmission. I am the beneficiary of someone else paying all that depreciation. I would 100% buy it again. Truly like new. The wonderful folks at Volvo of Reno,Nv performed the 30,000 tune up early. got the car fax maintainance report. I did purchase the four year extended warranty that is just like the factory warranty, just in case. Such a solid, well built car. No rattles or creeks. Again, No buyers remorse. Love this car. I dont understand why Audi has a unreliable image. Maybe to many engine choices like v-10, v-8, 6cylinders and 4cyn. Plus, people adding stage 1 or 2 tuning kits that the engines are not engineered for. Regardless, best purchase I have ever made.. I enjoy all your videos. Except the one where you jump up and down in the engine bay of a Q5. Otherwise great informative videos.
Haha, thanks I was trying to be fun with the Q5 shot but generally a wonderful vehicle to drive and yes, I believe we on ice once so find the right vehicle and get it done. O point in looking back. Thanks so much for the support and hope you have a great weekend.
I would love to own an A7 but the cost to own is way out of my budget
Yeah, they look so good. I ended up getting a 2014 640i BMW looks good but its a reliable model. Low ks. Was dirt cheap to buy
Indeed replacing the fuel pump is over $1300
That Maserati truck thing ain’t nothing but a Infiniti with a suit on
Haha
Lmfaooo
Yeah, Get Yourself A Mercedes G Wagon Then You'll Appreciate That "Appreciated" Value Each Year !! 😉👌 Nice Review.
Milk carton on wheels is a major gas guzzler for sure. 😀
Haha exactly
A white Escalade is another example of a milk carton, with a short expiration date, on wheels guzzling gas with the 6.2 V8.
The green car was beautiful. However, I don't buy used cars. All the snow all over the cars! It is the same here in the Midwest. My car is covered in snow like those. I got as much off as I could.
They also depreciate quickly because a ridiculously high majority of owners lease them to avoid an insane repair cost. If you have ever owned a Toyota, these are the complete opposite side of the spectrum.
Exactly
…I thought (G30) 540i should be reliable to own and is much easier to sell when compared to M550i or 530i. It’s not a bad car if you take it easy and don’t work it hard.
The amount of times he says “hot rod” 😂 I really hope that TH-cam suggests my videos after this one because of that 😄
If you can, better to have two vehicles so you split the mileage.
Haha indeed that’s how I like to roll, but maintenance doubles down too
Yeah i have 3 to split the miles and maintenance is definitely something that didn’t cross my mind until it hit my wallet.
Any reliable Audi’s
Yes, the Audi Q5. 2019+
100 percent
What's your view on any 2,0d BMW?
You should show the cars, when they are completely covered with snow.
Very professional... 😂
Canada is a wonderful place….not!
The fact that that brand new 7 series is already sagging is crazy
I would rather have a Lexus or Acura
For $200.000 You would be better off buying two TLX type S Acuras driving one and Storing the other be Money ahead in 10 Year's because You still have that one Brand New Car.
Typical Toyotas can go 300k ….mine Camry is 410k miles on original transmission and engine 😂
The problem is to pay a lot of money for luxury cars specially with the European brands for their high car prices, high cost of maintenance, high cost of part replacement, not very reliable for long-term and get back a high depreciation value on the car lol. Honestly, I prefer the symbol of reliabilty, low maintenance, affordable parts replacement with my Japan made 2021 Honda CR-V AWD top trim (Fully Loaded) which is a very solid vehicle that will last for a long time. Buy smart and save big money.
Bought a CPO x5 and let the first buyer take the huge depreciation. I feel I got a great discount 👍
Gotta weigh the pros and cons
My neighbor has that a7 think it’s a 2015 , and a etron suv and a s8 . Not gonna lie I get envious 🤣🤣🤣🤣
To me it seems like your neighbour doesn't have money problems. So he shouldn't have peiblem fixing them
He is doing fine
Cheers
I have a coworker who also owns an Audi A7.
My Audi has been very reliable and still going strong
Which one do you have?
@@Cartersaintwest A4 2014
Yes. We know. Avoid German made garbage. Been there done that. Toyota and Lexus only for me. Maybe a tad boring but over 300k miles and still purring.
They are money pit vehicles. Love the content but you gotta be more in depth with your description of cars that Escalade was a standard size not ESV
Now if I had money to drive it for a few years and then get rid of it. Id buy the Maserati private sale
I would rather put my arm in a sliding steel door than buy a Maserati
I'd prefer that Nissan over the Jeep Cherokee I've got.
He said that Jaguar fx depreciation within 5 years is around 57%, but the here is the thing, does that Jaguar FX last five years?
It's XF. I've owned a 2013 XF of the previous gen since 2019 and it has been fairly reliable.
@@zsb707 thanks for correcting, I haven’t ever owned one but always hear that they are worst when it comes to reliability.

You are correct, although I love my 2008 E63 6 series coupe and my 2013 XF sedan ☺.
Always Germans car lead the list
Actually the reliability of car is: -how many times your car needs car shop(i.e saving money for maintenance).
-today your car is running great but how your car will end up. Some car being sold as junks another towed
-resale price if your car doesn’t keeps its own value the reliability of your car is almost zero
Ah, yes. The Maserati Quattroporte comes with a three year factory warranty and a five year financial ruin plan. Actually, it's a 72% depreciation in five years. While the maintenance and repairs increase. And you would think that a Maserati is a Stellantis product with all those repair issues...oh wait, it is!
Mark, it is a 'pickle fork'
Yeet lol - This is why I still Daily Drive my Sunfire and Sunbird coupes. I have a 2017 Jeep Cherokee LTD with the 3.2 and the 9 speed. Its the junkiest transmission ever. I have serviced the transmission accordingly but it still, bumps, clicks, whines and lurches. Those 9 speeds are absolutely absolutely trash. The jeep isn't more comfortable than the Sunfire coupe and is frankly less reliable than my 90s tin cans. When the Jeep was new in 2017, somebody almost paid 40k Cad. When I bought it, in 2020, it was sold to me for 22k. Think about that right? Big depreciation. I tell you what too! I dont even want it. If I dont sell if this year, it will depreciate even more and I'll loose out on the 20k im hoping to maybe get out of it. Also, if you want to go bankrupt on gasoline costs, Drive a Stellantis vehicle.
Did you forget about TESLA’s 😢
Haha, well, they will get coverage
A BMW is a future lawn ornament after 5+years unless you want to spend money in the BMW garage
I've owned my E63 6 Series coupe for 14 years and counting. It has never left me stranded, so no lawn ornament worthy BMW 😆😊.
I like pitch fork mark! Being politically correct is boring, the names you use adds humor
Stop smacking the camera!!!!!
I hate Toyota and Lexuses. The newer one. Especially with 2.5 four cylinder. Yes they will depreciation faster.
LX600 has 60.8% depreciation you will buy it 150k. Resell it it almost 40k to 30k
I swear i saw it front of my eyes
Don't tell me buy it. Nope i will never it EVER
That’s fair. Unfortunately all vehicles are a depreciating asset with Jeep Wrangler, Toyota Tacoma holding stronger than most
@@ECPP yep they holding with a 4.0L V6.
@@ECPP the 2.7 rolling piles of dirt junk. And it depreciated like no tomorrow. I replace couple of fortuners and Hiluxs and some of tacomas. It’s bullshit to buy it. The best reliability if you want toyota and Lexus get a 3.5 V6 for bulletproof engine and holding very well and reliable engine
Please do more research on the newer bmw v8 from 2018, you really are misleading people.5 years that car is still too far from any problems, just ask people who own those, you only think the b58 is the only good engine you are so wrong
Facts are facts. N63 has improved but reliability and longevity plus cost of servicing do not compare to the 6 cylinder
No one buys V8 as a daily,it becomes so much cheap because you don't put mileages on it which means you own it for a long time,no one buys a V8 for low fuel consumption or low service cost,we buy it because if the satisfaction it brings ,it is no longer a problem engine that is a fact
Biased
In what way?
cars are consumable machines I dont understand the point of this video. Of course half the value is gone after you spent 5 years farting in the seat, hooning the car, putting wear and tear on it, etc. What did you expect? Youll drive it around for half a decade then get all your money back?
For me, German cars are disposable, they only give you plastic and colored lights, nothing of quality.
Theyre a lot better than American cars...Chevrolet, Chrysler, Jeep...all tin cans by comparison
I think Porsche is the best of all of the german brands... Reliable and hold their value
Great point made.@@typhoontim125
Some really are and i speak to that in many videos
Sadly that's what potential customers want
dont buy a bmw lol
Financially they would ruin a person for sure especially in the more premium models
