    I might be wrong but 1200s were originally designed as an audiophile turntable and broadcast player. DJs found they were perfect for the emerging scratching, mixing and beat matching of hip hop and dance in the late seventies .

      You are not wrong at all when the 1200 first came out in 1970 . Club dj ing was still
      Years in the future, they never had a pitch slider like the MK2 ,they employed the use of rotary pots to adjust the pitch. When the MK2 arrived in 1979, it was still intended for hifi use , then the djs discovered it, and the rest is history.

      The SP-10 was/is their broascasting turntable and also their "audiophile" turntable. the SL-1200/1210 is more consumer market.

    In all honesty, these special editions look tacky as hell 😅

    I don't understand teaming with automobiles. Klipsch did it with McLaren also. Team up with Fender, Gibson, Marshall, Vox and so on.

    Most comments are negative. I am okay with a manufacturer's decision to introduce something unusual and give customers choices. SkyFi is doing exactly that, so I thank him for taking the time to do a quick video and showcase the product. It costs more, but this differs from a regular production turntable. If you don't want to pay extra, purchase the regular turntable or do as you please.

    From my perspective, SkyFi pushing the release of a product that is just a marketing gimmick and provides no audio improvement over existing products diminishes overall credibility of SkyFi.

      How was he pushing the release of it? He never said it was wonderful or even recommended it. All he did was do a video on it. Unless i'm missed some other marketing materials from them, I don't see what you're talking about.

      I would recommend this table for a Lamborghini fan. Everyone else spend a bit more on a GR2. These collaborations are great for the brand, and we all want Technics to be around forever so keep them coming.

      So you hate cars ? And we should to ?
      It sounds the same as the main model. He clearly says it is an aesthetic treatment.
      Don’t worry you won’t buy one and he will sell out this week.

      The substance of the video was essentially “these turntables exist”. How does that damage their credibility?

    On sale for $1299. $300 0ff list. Tempting to say the least but I already own the SL-1200 M7 in gold. Plus 3 other turntables. I'm a sucker for a bargain. However my ultimate goal turntable is the SL 1200-G. Thanks for the video. Just my opinion but I think the Orange color is the best look.

    Thanks Fernando, as always, for this very professional product presentation. Well, what can I say or write about it as the proud owner of a 1200G for many years. Before I forget to mention, my two well-kept 1210s from the 80s too. Then Technics does something like this. What is the real benefit? Wasn't there also a Red Bull version last year? At least in Europe as I can remember. Anyway, it's a bit childish. Well, maybe I'm not the target group of buyers for this children's stuff. Paying even more for it? Then you should go straight for the GR series. Ok, my personal opinion.
    Please keep up your good work. A highly musical “Servus” from Bavaria

      @SkyFiAudio  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      For sure, go straight for the GR2 or G series. However I could see why a Lamborghini owner would want one of these. Great conversation piece, good solid turntable and a great way to bring non-audiphiles into the hobby. Thanks for commenting sir from Bavaria.

    Does the finish on 1200g-s looks better than the g-black? Trying to decide. Thanks Fernando

      The silver is a bit nicer on the G.

      The black SL-1210G has a black coloured plinth. Over time, this surface coating will chip, especially on the edges, leaving you with little aluminium flee bites . You'd need to keep a black sharpie marker handy to colour in the chips 😅.

    I was very skeptical about this edition based on TH-cam thumbnail but decided to watch the video and glad I did. These Lambo Technics are not as gaudy as I thought they would be. I can see someone getting it just to add a splash of color to otherwise boring mid fi gear look. I would have appreciated if Technics would re release their gold edition of the higher end model complete with their gr2 drive control upgrades. Thanks for posting.

    He's only showing us the turntable, not exactly pushing it , if you happen to be a dj or someone who is looking for an entry-level technics with a splash of colour, this may be what you're looking for , and its packed with attractive features, i wish my SL-1200G had the reverse setting, think of all the fun you could have listened to your beatles and led zeppelin in that mode , back in the 80s when i was a young man I'd have loved something like this .

    Ive had 6 versions of 1200's over the years but I agree with most - I see absolutely no point to these special editions, Sonus Faber just did the same thing with the Amati's.... But good overview video regardless!

    You can polish a turd, but it's still a turd. Why pay extra for no improvement in sound?

    • @peterstudley1804
      @peterstudley1804 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Add a good cartridge. I highly recommend the Audio-technica VM740ML with a great set of AUDIO-TECHNICA OCC headshell leads, and there you have it, an upgrade in sound and if you ask Fernando to do the calibration for you you'll have a record deck that'll leave most over decks at this price point in the dust , no pun intended 😅.

    • @madmeister407
      @madmeister407 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@peterstudley1804 My point was, Having a Lamborghini paint job does not make it sound better. I just costs you another £500 more than the standard deck with no additional benefit in sound. The Technic's is an OK turntable but you are limited to some degree by the OEM tonearm.

    A record deck teaming up with a car company
    So far apart in the worlds makes no sense for DJ's or music lovers
    Out of Touch.
