This film is inspired by the book by Drieu la Rochelle: le feu follet. French book principal character is Alain addicted to opium and morphine and live in clinical at Paris in 30's.
This film it’s one of the best i seen in my life, the shots and the way the movie show how him feel it about life its really beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time
Every time I went down to the spiral, I watched this video. I used to watch this movie over and over again whenever I was sad, but since it's not available in my country anymore, it has become lost media here and all i have is this video. Just like Anders, i've lost myself to my own thoughts. People say it's never over or there's a way out, but for people like us, it's just false hope. I used to be the smartest kid in the school, the best graduate bla bla. I had potential, just like Anders. That scene with Thomas when he said, "You're smart, you have your family, you can start over" to which Anders replied " Look at my life. I'm 34 years old. I've got nothing. I don't want to start from scratch." encapsulates how despite all of it, hopelessness is just inevitable. Nothing hurts more than being reminded about your capability if you're not self-destructive. "It'll be better. It'll all work out. Except it won't, you know."
I think I visit here more than anyone, I might just find something different with each visit both within the film itself and my editing. Hope that doesn't sound too narcissistic.
@@lostarunope i get what you mean. You just love the movie and you found a way to capture everything you needed to convey. And you revisit it because you understand deeply
This is art. Oslo, August 31st is one of the greatest films I’ve ever seen
