My thunderbird 2007 is still running perfectly with once a year full service. It had run over 6 lakh kms (Used a lot for long rides). It has a few problems related to rusting starting about now. But otherwise it's fine.

Whether 2 wheeler or 4 wheeler, very few people know how to use long stroke (high torque) engines. They are not for revving hard. Its about finding the sweet spot in the power band.

I'm planning to finally buy an RE with the money I saved over time. This would be my first bike. But confused between TB350, C350 and Standard 350 (Years around 2010 - 2013) in the used market. Any suggestions?

"Maintenance karate raho" is not the solution to these problems.
I maintain my Thunderbird with all my heart and money but still I have most of the problems you mentioned.
The solution is to throw the bike in the garbage and buy a reliable, non-RE bike.

I purchased TB 350 , 1 year back , below are the list of problem i faced in sequence.
1. Puncher (3 Times).
2. Rear Break failing( It could have take my life once)
3.Meter
4. Bs4 Engine sounds like tractor
( Hence warranty is there it fixed in 9 days , after a lot of argument with service center )
5. Engine oil leakage
6.Chain noise.(Repaired three times)
7. Poor service
Its not a bike.. Its a problem. Rear Break failing is so dangerous in this bike and happens frequently.
Do not go with its look it feels living with hell. I almost borrowed 1lakh rupees for this bike. The one of the worst decision of mine.

My dad rides a Splendour NXG and I own a RE-TBTS. I must say that Splendour NXG hasn't given us any problem all these years. There is a cult around RE created in our minds because of which RE increases the price of their bikes every year without bringing any tangible improvement in their bike.
It's a lie...don't have a bit of faith in this video...I and my brother both have Thunderbird 350cc ...drove more than 75,000 kms 1 and a half year old...mostly driven in city...STOP LIEING... Cheap Mechanics se bike Doge toh yeh hoga

I totally agree with you too. sometimes I feel that there are YT channels purely made for the hate towards the RE brand. I am on my 4th RE bike ( had a Continental 535, a Lightning 535 and currently own a Himalayan BS4 and a Thunderbird 350 BS4) I rarely faced these issues. Some people to save the money or for there own convenience go to a local mechanic who doesn't usually have all the experience of working on REs. Going to a Service centre or known specialists like Art of Motorcycle, NCR Motorcycles, HDT Customs etc is much better.

Mandy, I have TB350 marine and well maintained. The problem that you have is due to the electricals. If you check there is the electrical wiring which runs close to the fuel tank, over period of time, these wires that are exposed and wear and tear start to malfunction. Always go to a RE garage for servicing and do it in 3 month interval to have a smooth running RE.

Around 2011 i was using old pulsar after my brother got his 1st car. That time my friend bought new 350cc. He was so happy. I was little bit jealous that time. Next day my friend called me from shop to pick him up because he had same starter problem as you. After (free) repair it happened again couple of weeks later after 2 months he was asked to pay for small repairs and spares. Soon then Oil leaks, breaking and other problems started. One day his break didn't worked and we( i was sitting back) crashed a rickshaw. It was expensive(paid for big dent) and funny for us cause we were ok and so was bike.year after he bought a hatchback. After three years he sold it and he was happy. After that he tells everyone not to buy any products from RE. Last year he baught FZ. He still say no to RE.
And i was happy with my pulsar because we both knew he spent more money on spares and repairs than total a bike price in 1st two years. With Royal Enfield Frustration and headache comes with it.
CBR 250r Lelo, problem Shabd ka Naam bhool jaoge zindagi mein. Honda ka most reliable engine hai CBR mei.

Get your airfilter changed, missing problem will be gone. Also, try least amount of water goes on your meter, It is water resistance not water proof. for tyre issue, you can either switch to tubeless tyre via getting alloy wheels or use anti puncture liquids, easily available. For self start, the first start of the day should be done via kick for battery performance, and then heat up the engine once that is done turn of the bike and use self start. always use self in neutral without clutch. Self bearing goes bad generally due to 2 reasons, 1> when you press clutch while starting, 2> when u use self in a running engine.

Everyday start with kick-start, I'm using TB350 since last 3 years.
I have been doing same for the last 4 years and 6 months. No problem
self problem easly solve ho sakta hai no need to change anything..... just use WD40
If u have pblm too much, u can start in 7th or 10th kick easily,, best bike for real RE biker, I think u need spendler plus , or platina 100CC

Try to use only shell petroleums. That will help u to keep ur bike healthy.
Most of the time reasons behind unhealthy bike is bad fuels.
1yr 3 mnths old 36000 complete... it will start only one smooth kick
Yes you are are right, two years completed . never required to kick start.
One short press and no throttle, it starts so smooth.

RE is UCE BS3,4 and 6 engine are easy pumping system engine,, It easy to kick start just in 2 kicks maximum

Actually ye sabh common issues hai RE ke sath...kuch ko jada problem ati hai or kuch ko kam... oil leakage a sakti hai, RR unit mein iske problem hai toh high speed mein chalane se high voltage se pilot lamps, meter ki bulbs yan digital meter mein issue a sakta hai, rear drum brake casting ka hai to uske teeth break ho sakte hai, rusting bhi common hai, gear lever left side se ek rod se connected hai or wo RH cover mein gear changer ko move karta hai or usme loose spring hota hai toh tamiz se gear change karna padta hai warna gear stuck ho jate hai, kick dog meaning kick ka gear bhi engine ke andar hai toh vibration se uske bolt khul sakte hai toh engine khol ke fir se fit karne pad sakte hai, side stand iska chassis mein mounted hai or wahan pipe bahut patla hota hai toh chassis tut jati hai kabhi kabhi....abhi list or bhi hai.... but ye kuch real issues hai RE mein so learn toh repair it n live with it...warna Japanese lo..fit and forget ...i have BS4 standard abs ke sath.... overall i m happy with my bike...90% repair work i know so khud hi laga rehta hun mein 😂
Maddy has done 50,000 kms on his RE in just 2.5 yrs! That's a lot of miles. However, from the looks of his bike it seems that he has not spent much in regular maintenance. Saving money by getting your bike serviced from roadside mechanics will result in such frustration. Once in a while service by Authorized Service Centre is a must. While RE may not as be as technologically advanced a bike as others in the market, it still sells in good numbers which proves that it is not as bad as is being made out in this video.

Had same issues with my RE classic.
Carbonator broke within 15,000 kms
Self starter stopped working after 20,000kms
Had multiple issues with front disc brake. Had to replace original acid battery with Exide sealed maintenance free battery.
Original Chain set wore within one year changed that with OE Rolon chain set which worked absolutely fine.
Classic has major problem in its rear tire alignment. Replaced 3 rear tire in 2 year span due to misalignment.
More importantly RE knew about all these issues and still they don't want to resolve them. Don't know why.
I think only best thing about RE is RE Standard. Everything else is useless crap.

It's a bad quality bike... Had tb 350 from 2013 on launch till 2019.
Left hands and happy now. The only thing I liked in the bike was the looks.... All other problems you have aired here is being seconded by me.
you just need to remove a switch fitted below the clutch liver..... clean it and aply WD-40.... I'm also a thunderbird owner and mai bhi yahi face karta hu sab....

I am a rider on my Thunderbird TBTS, more than 65K Kms ridden. Its an amazing machine. The main problem is its easy to own a RE but you have to be very disciplined in everyday routine in maintaining and riding the bike.
The sequences shown in video, I am sorry to say does not reflect good riding habits. More over, neither I have seen any of the routine things I do, you mentioned you do too. I mean most contemporary RE owners do. Still I had problems and unexpected incidents, which is common for bike owners of all brands.
When you own RE, you have to bear in mind you are owning a 200kg metal bike, that is not capable for being a DOMINAR or a PULSAR, because it is not, but if you do maintain properly, it will be a life long asset.
One thing I must agree, that is RE is definitely degrading its quality in terms of parts and services. Quality mechanic is still a boon.
I am a thunderbird 500 owner it's been 4 years I have this bike first of all u don't need to change the bearings for the ignition u just need to change the starter relay which is beneath ur seat brake problems do come with this bike rear brake problems ate hai and in rainy season u have to cover her petrol lid otherwise water enters in the tank and missing problem occurs and other reason of missing problem is u have to clean the filter of fuel. Pump mostly missing problems occur because of this reason and speedometer hazard lights problems do occur and pls don't add external fog lights to bike because it disturbs electronic distribution because of which ur ignition relay gets short and ur ignition does not work

Once i got hit by Activa from behind, my Rear Guard got a deep bend whereas the Activa was fit n fine. To get my Rear guard repaired, i spent 4200rs, RE parts r too fragile !

2013 are excellent.
I don’t why people are facing so many problems , I ride thunderbird around 5000 kms in. 6 months and in every 6 months I make oil top up and lubricant to chain . 8 months full service , oil change and diesel wash to avoid rust and it’s going well and good 👍🏼.

BS 4 Thunderbird doesn't seem to have these problems. 2 years ownership maintenance did eat my pocket but except one puncture, rear brake fail no other issues. Didn't change my OEM silencer.

GPS Rider I am a pulsar 220 owner of 2010 model. Till date all good. I just say the best components used. Don't know how is the quality now.
GPS Rider aray yaar am not fond of riding. My friend bought a RE thunderbird and I took his 2004 splendor in 2016, mind it that the splendor was flooded in 2014 deluge. The bike has been ridden over 100k kms and overhauled some time back by my friend. Since then the bike has once again covered more than 25k kms at least. Have ridden it for almost two years extensively. All expenses I have incurred are
Change of engine oil at regular intervals,
Changed the front brake cable and
Changed the spark plug once that's it.
For a RE price one can purchase three regular bikes. They lack the dedication towards the customers to make them feel secure while riding Enfield. My friend had changed the battery twice since 2015. With the little wash the spark plug gets contaminated with moisture and is reluctant to start.
I mean seriously....... Is Enfield worth it....

Buddy, I understand you have a genuine problem with your bike but I will disagree with you that Royal Enfield does not start on Kick easily. I have been owning Bullet for almost 3 years ( no self start ) and have never had any issue with the kick. I just run the engine in ideal for about 5 minutes every morning before i start off. Rest, I avoid silly modifications like silencer change, Chinese fog lights, etc etc.

Maddy Bhai. I have been using TBTS since 2012 and rode it more than a lac km. I have been facing all the problems you have talked about. Self start is a big issue and I have replaced it frequently but in vain none of them last for couple of months. Odometer though I have analog one it has the same problem. Touchwood I have never faced a problem of puncture. The most annoying thing I have been facing is bike not getting start in rainy season and missing current when u are riding. That's the biggest drawback I found which never got sorted. Neither me or any mechanic including royal Enfield mechanics were able to figure out the exact problem. I will conclude by saying if you are planning for a trustworthy bike then please look into some other options. If you still want to buy a RE then u should bare the pains. #royaljunk.
I have a thunderbird 350 one more problem that is rainy water in the fuel tank. I have bought thunderbird in 2013 during the rainy season if your vehicle out side the house definitely water will go in the fuel tank . Now I have cut the fuel tank lock and install classic lock pattern. Now no problem of rainy water.

I think you lost your mind, The problems you are explaining is all for wear and tear items ( Tyre Puncture, Brake not working, Hazard like n/w) and you cannot blame to RE for this, for meter and all issue if not getting any support from RE and then you should record their statement instead of your bullshit talk and get your meter repair from outside. Sell your bike and buy "Kinetic Luna".

After each ride front fork oil seal tut jata hai. Jisse dono shock absorbers pe oil leak karne lagta hai... Service center wale bolte hai ki replace karna padega.. but kuch fayda nahi hota usse. Kal mai 655km ride kar ke aya hu. 3 days. Aur kal returning k time pe oil seal break ho gaya. Last month naya dala tha.
Front fork you should service every 10000. Change oil and seals .
Hi..bro..im also using tb350 ...so u can solve this problem by putting fork cover ( a rubber thing which protects the inner tube from dust). Iam using last 6 months...thats why i told you... It only costs under rs500/-. Try it..worth it...

I think you never get your bike serviced at the RE service centres as you don't even know that which problem is arising because of which reason neither your mechanic.
I think u r mechanic is the best mechanic.....The thunderbird is the superb model very much liked by the youth.....
yup 1) i also had same problem with self-start. muze bhi wo self strat wala part change karna pada for 4.5 k rs. 2) also change my meter 1ce with service warranty its still ok. 3) battery change karni padati hai every 2 years now planning to use dry battery instead of liq battery. 4) changed handlebar 1nce its really bad quality feels cheap. 5)engine oil leakage is so common that its really sad by RE r&d its actually annoying .

Bhaiya i have the royal Enfield Thunderbird 350cctwinspark and that to the first model. It's been 14-15 years and it does have some problems, but i feel that the tyres of the first model is the problem.
I wished that the tyres were a bit broader for more maneuverability.
But i feel that thunderbird is the best to be ever produced by RE. If I rank according to my comfort, then it would be like this
1) bullet
2) thunderbird
3) classic Electra
4) interceptor
5) continental
6) hunter and others.
There might be differences in thought. Well my judgements were based on my comfort. Se let me tell you my height and weight.
Height- 183 cms
Weight- 100kgs.

My bike tb350 2015 model.. sounds like someone playing with metal rods after bumper to.bumper traffic.. my bike gets all the attention bcoz of that sound😂 ..which is greater than nearby buses and trucks.
The problem is from a month after the purchase... Five times tappets .. cylinder heads.. and others are replaced.. but no solution...
Royal Enfield is the biggest scammer in motorcycle companies... And the service center guys provide very good solution to problem.. complete 5000 km it will.fade away... Next complete 10000 km then it will solve automatically... Someday they will suggest burn the vehicle ..it will fade away.

Hi same problem. Im having 2015 model and sane problem meter, missing electric, self , side stand & centre stand problem . Mechanical pickup also very slow. I do every yearly servicing & maintenance from Royal Enfield showroom only

3years with Thunderbird. I changed chain,fuel indicator repair, digital meter problems, break discs changed, oil leakages at front wheel suspension, RHS lubrication oil leakages, now Sprocket's and chain again advising me to change, Royal Enfield....sucks.... irritated sounds from chain
I totally can relate tp ur problems, even I ride Thunderbird since 2.5 years. I have faced Each and every problem that you have mentioned here in the video. But the point is, is even royal Enfield going to react on this?

Religiously maintenance and servicing of royal enfield needs to be done. I have TBT 2008 model, running royal and loyaly since past 11 plus years. If u don't like royal enfield and bullet then sell it then buy other bikes.. once you become habited of riding royal enfield and bullet, if rides other bikes then you won't like it for long run trust me on this, definitely again you will come back to enfield and bullet.. Try it 😂.. RE leaks, it has metal body, it has cogs and nuts, it beats with your heart! Its ruttle your bones when its in full throttle! When u ride it makes you feel like a royal and Macho, which can not be put into words, moreover it subsides the depression when you ride RE. Many bikes came and gone but still RE exists and maintianing its cult status since decades...its gives problems but still many people buys RE and bullets 👍👍.. You should proud of owning RE.. Same bro, my mate's Classic 500 Squadron Blue got the self starter problem within 11 months of purchase. His family forced him for RE, he wanted RS200 and now cussing them😂. I bought NS200 at the same time and happily enjoying it.
Japanese bikes are much more reliable and smooth.
My frnd have this bike, he is facing same problem.

Ghatiya technology royal Enfield use karte hai.sirf paisa leta hai.service uske hisap se deta nahi hai.. go for YAMAHA.. no problem bike. I am using a fazer from last 8years.. still it runs like a brand new bike. Superb.. YAMAHA ROCKS
