    Much thanks for this. After seeing this I bought a bigger fountain sprayer than I was using, and my above-ground pool is now the perfect temperature all the time.

    Hubby and I made one today and it works great! Thanks for the video. More detailed instructions and info would be nice. Like the hole size you drilled, etc.

    Just found a fountain online and figured out a way to attach it to my pool. Works so good. These “sprinklers” work really well at cooling the water.
    I tried making a sprinkler but my pump had too much pressure when running it so then just attached a hose and actual sprinkler which worked okay.
    Thanks for sharing.

      Attaching a garden hose adds water to the pool, most of us don’t want to do that, jacks up our chemicals... You can tie into a return like he did, so that you can control the flow of the water, and reduce the volume.

    Loved this video.. American ingenuity at its finest !! We're moving into a place north of Houston and we'll have a Pool/Spa that has a heater for winter but no cooler for the hot summertime . I think I'll use this concept to build a portable unit to run at night. I'm thinking since it's not so many gallons .. this could work .. can't thank you enough for takin' the time ...

    Are both those valves, red and black regular valves or is the red one a special flow control valve? I have 2 black ones. Will they do the same thing? Thanks.

    I think...... The best time to run the chiller is between 12am and 8am. Have you tested this? Also after finding that perfect time block for the chiller only. Then figured out what time block to run the filter? I think if you run the chiller and or the filter during the heat of the day after you have run your normal chiller cycle...you start working against the chiller. I would like to know if you have any info on this

      d1001more we did something similar but used a sub pump until we can get to a hardware store to buy the needed stuff to convert the filter pump. We ran ours on a timer, 1st night from 12 midnight to 7 am and it cooled it from 92 down to 84 degrees. The 2nd night we went to 12 midnight to 3 am have the pump take a 1 hour break and started back up at 4am to 7 am and the water dropped to 78 degrees. We are able to run our filter pump at the same time since ours is ran off a separate sub pump.

      Lol sorry .. South central kansas. Last summer was so hot I upgraded the pump to a 2hp. And ran PVC pipe all the way around the perimeter of the pool. I gave the other pump away. It's running fine on my friends pool he did the same as me. But not all the way around.

    Will restriction of the water return cause pump damage?

    • @cowboylonny
      @cowboylonny  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope ran just fine. I put 2 valve and a tee on the return line. So I would restrict the main return and open up the valve all the way on the water cooler side.

  • @debbiepowers946

  • @Peteybz
    @Peteybz 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Cool invention but why not just attach a homemade sprinkler threaded or snap in unit to the end of the return line from inside the pool. You just reach over the side of the pool and screw or snap it in to where the return water enters the pool. Less piping and connections to fuss with. Attach a dual return line & sprinkler on the other side of the pool by adding a second return line from water pump. Only needed if 1 sprinkler alone causes water pressure build up on pool pump. 2 cools watr fastr

    why would you want the water to be colder? lol I'm trying to get mine warmer

    • @EnochLight
      @EnochLight 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on your climate. Down in the southern part of the US, daytime pool water temps can get in the 90's which doesn't make it comfortable when you're trying to cool off. If you're in a northern summer climate, I can see where cooling the water off might not be a great idea though!
      That said, even in Michigan it would be cool to have the sprinkler effect while swimming in the daytime. For less than $30, it's a great mod!

    • @4kgamingerikchannel661
      @4kgamingerikchannel661 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you want to keep your water cold so you dont have to use chemicals. Heat brings algae and bacteria to your pool, and also less bugs because they are gonna say holy shit this water is cold!

    • @EnochLight
      @EnochLight 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erik Moreno - less bugs? Dude... with the right amount of chlorine and proper pH, etc - you shouldn't have *ANY* bugs living in it! Now dead bugs are a whole other problem, in which case temperature won't have anything to do with those. ;)

    Hi i will give you a marvellous idea:
    Get 20 pcs of mini irrigation nozzles and drill 20 holes in a pipe and fit them then connect the pipe to a 1/4 hp water pump.
    The evaporation effect is enormous.
    I can send you photos of mine
    The outside temperature is 56 celcius while the pool is 28 celcius

  • @davidbell2967

      David Bell more water pressure.

    • @dennismadigan2023
      @dennismadigan2023 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not being a wise guy but water pressure doesn't change because of the size of the pipe. Pressure is pressure. The valves were probably less expensive as is the pipe and fittings. Reducing the pipe reduces the volume of water. Staying full size all the way would insure water volume regardless of how many holes were drilled.
      Nice job though. I like it.

    • @edtharpe1126
      @edtharpe1126 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, sort of, as the flow decreases with the smaller pipe, the pressure at that point increases. The guage at the pump will not change much. That's why HVAC installer reduce the size further from the blower.

    • @ChesterBaker
      @ChesterBaker 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of us are running the pool pumps quite a bit anyway, saves money in the long run by reducing the amount of chemicals you need. And for the noise, when the kids are playing, the noise from the sprinkler is... well... nothing. LOL Overnight, you’re sleeping, so you won’t hear the noise... Not sure what the problem would be.
