- Ever wondered how to cool down your pool water? Check out this video to see and easy and inexpensive way to lower your pool temperature in the heat of summer.
I ran this pool fountain for 1 night and lowered my pool temperature by 4 Degrees. Do this a couple nights and week to maintain a refreshing pool temperature during the summer heat.

He should have taken the temp at 24 hours later to get a true temp reading. I think the pool was cooler because it went down in temp at night and probably hasn't had enough time to go back up yet because it was too early in the day. There's no way that small of a fountain is doing anything at all.
I agree. I have (4) aerators on my pool and it lowers it 2-3 degrees but my pool is naturally 6 degrees cooler every morning, regardless. After watching this I’m still searching videos for an alternative to cooling my pool. Louisiana heat laughs at fountains/aerators 😂
@Jeff H What brand floating fountain do you use? My pool is just a couple of months old so I’m not familiar with the floating fountains for pools.
You're so right. With overnight temps in the 70s and without a pool cover, of course it is cooler in morning! The only way he'd cool it would be to run a heat pump in reverse or if he had a solar system and ran it during the night to circulate the entire pool to a cool roof a couple of times.
And that fountain will be raising pH. When you add acid to counteract the pH that's what is lowering your TA.
@gregt.8656 a sail shade over the pool during the day should keep you pool from absorbing as much energy, bonus points if you can have it retract at night.
Can you drop the link to buy the parts?
4 degrees in the morning, it'll heat back up to 92 by the same time as when you started the little fountain. I'm in AZ and it's only cooling down to mid 80's overnight.
That's just the natural cool down effect of the night .... , I just put a chiller to my brand new pool , expensive ? Yes for sure , I just add a 4k dlls to my already 13k equipment total, I am a new pool builder in the Houston area and my first pool is my own so top of the line everything on mine .....
I can't get it warm enough to get in😢
Wonder what would happen if u put them on all of ur returns?
What is the name of that piece? Pls
Unless you show that it just stays 92 without the fountain there’s no evidence this thing works. Plus you need to take your temps the same time of the day. Everyone’s pool is cooler in the morning.
Does it matter which return you use for this device?
What size fitting did you use to connect to the jet? I had threading issues with 1.5 inch fittings trying to connect? Yelp.
Ran both aerators overnight and only dropped a degree, better off draining some water and filling with cold
Should check it at the same time in the afternoon. Or start your test temp in the morning to see how much it naturally cools at night VS the difference this made.
You pool cools down more than that just with the lower overnight temperatures. I suspect that the fountain is doing almost nothing to cool down the pool. The real solution is a heat pump with a chiller option or a pool chiller.
Whats the day & night humidity? You said 92/72 ?
Sorry - the pool temperature was 92°. The average outdoor temps are 95-98° daytime and 72°-75° at night. We have high humidity all the time here. The average is probably 60%.
i put ice i. My spa portion a about 10 bags
you need more pressure from pump
Link?
I wish mine was 92. Mine was 101 yesterday
Dude you checked temp early morning not at sane time as day after sun hitting it all day long.
4 degrees ? Thats not enough for this contraption sorry
Id be curious about the temp 2 feet under the surface.
4 degrees is a huge difference in feels like temp in a pool and it’s ability to cool you down!
Mine is 91 at the end of the day, 85 in the morning. Zero fountains. With 70 degree night temp he's just got normal cooling from the water surface.
That thing is weak. I made my own and it covers the whole pool
It’s not the device, I low pressure returns. *most* pools have higher return pressure and this same thing goes across a 20ft wide pool. Each pool is different.
