To make this trolling even better you could join the mound makers so you are actually able to kill enemies in their world to not look as suspicious.
Edit: Turns out that killing their enemies only works if summoned, not from invading. Still very possible to do with noobs who don't know what the sign is though.

I tried doing this but im a sunbro at heart. I could not bring myself to kill the host. They even found me out but they deemed me as friendly. When we reached the gate knowing I could not continue I toasted the team (the taunt) and left

I dont remember what youtuber it was, but every pvp video they were shit talking while invading some poor new player, lol. Most Pvp videos I've seen have the person invading/recording like, "YEAH, GET REKT NOOB". This guy was actually pretty calm and just having fun.

I know the video is 8 months old, but man, the Mimic kill was probably one of the most hilarious/amazing things I've seen in DS3, the music fit perfectly too. Happy beyond words that you were able to record that and make a clip out of it. Keep up the great work man.

I made a Patches cosplay and put my sign down as a mound maker and a ton of noobs summoned me.
Then I helped them cross the level and get to the mimic with the deep battle axe, the majority went straight to open it and got 1 shot.

Incorrect info about Leonhard - you have to have the pale tongue in your inventory (either from a previous invasion you did, or from the one you found hanging in the undead settlement) AND you must have killed a certain tree boss for him to appear again in the Shrine to give you the key. Sweet vid chap

I’ve found that the white ring has more potential when you’re invaded with some teammates because you can blend together with your invocations, in order to hide the fact that you’re the host. It might have a great future for ganks.

You can similarly do this with Mound Maker summoning stone in Lothric if you rush to grab it in Undead Settlement and head back. A lot of players don't know you're an enemy, even sometimes if you don't wear the ring. This won't last long though as players are getting clued up.
There's a covenant you can join where you can actually *be* summoned where you can hurt the enemy (PVE) *as well* as the Host and his Phantoms. You can use the White Ring if you want for that, but your Summon Sign is purple. Even if people know what the covenant is about, they won't know your intentions.
I need that part with the mimic as a gif or vine. It has to be a part of my life now!
Use dried fingers, seed of giant tree, way of the blue, and chameleon to set up a NASTY trap for invaders.

They're not dumb. First thing is: as soon as it says invader arrived and you somehow appear not being part of their summon group, they figure it out. By slashing you they indefinitely are sure you're an invader. The only way to pull this off is to be lucky and show up with a noob yes that has no summon group so they don't know beforehand who is part of them and how summoning works exactly, but since there are vets playing, you're screwed most of the time. XD it's even funnier to see them backstab you and pretend they don't see you at first and then strike when you least expect it xD i think you got trolled instead haha

been doing this as a mound maker. using white sign in busy places. if people summon a purple but you spawn in white you can attack npcs to blend in well and turn whenever you fancy
