I love your reviews. Makes car buying feel easier. You hit on key points that actual drivers would be concerned about all while being entertaining.
Not generally a fan of small SUVs but the new Q3 is just plain impressive. Checking it out in person during my last service was an eye opener to be sure.
So glad they didn't go for the A8 touchscreen situation. Long live analog climate controls.
山内淳カイル
Totally agree
YESSSSSSSSSS
Yes, that wouldnt have happened anyway because for that it's just not luxurious/expensive enough
Yes couldn't agree more
Absolutely right. For controls like that a touchscreen makes no sense because you can’t adjust it just by feel.
The new Q3 looks much better than the old one
JP B The Rear looks very similar tho .
The old was worse in every way. Easily one of the worst Audi's ever
Yeah, the older version always seemed a poor design choice...
JP B no shit

A) I have to say I am impressed that you pointed out on Android Auto you lose the function of displaying the map in the MFD. I was particularly annoyed when I figured out that it wouldn't do that and cancelled the order of my car just because that function would have been extremely useful for me at the time.
B) Secondly, you pointed out the bottles in the compartment in the middle blocks your access to the gear stick, the way around that is to lift the arm rest to its high position and drag it out as far as you can. It is a much more natural access to the gear stick with a rest for the arm (hence it being called the arm rest).
C) If Range Rover Evoque included the infotainment system qualities of this car and the ergo dynamics, it would be a must buy for me.
D) You really ought to state how brilliant LED lights on the newer car's are now. They're outstanding and make night time driving much much easier without impairing the vision of on coming traffic.
E) The numbering system on the back is so dumb I agree with your comments to the T.
F) Adaptive suspension is seriously worth the money if you intend on keeping the car for a long time and want a balance between fun driving in the country roads and driving around horrible road surfaces.
G) The older models of the Q3 handled bit poor, felt bit disconnected. So glad you compared the handling of the old and the new!
Great review. Your videos are the ones to watch when considering a purchase!
Canceling a car order, because the dash doesn't display the android auto app... pls, grow up

I love how audi left the climate controls as buttons
Mat, it seems that all your videos recorded in Autumn. Is this some kind of nature apocalypse in England? Do you have other seasons in the UK?:)

Finally, a good looking Q3! I really like what Audi did with their Q line up.
I struggle to understand this fascination with cup holders and bottles in door bins. I must be unique in my ability to have never needed to have drinks on-hand during a journey, ever. So far have not died as a result.
people get thirsty. who'd have thought
Probably trying to market it for Americans too as they are very keen on drive-thru large cups.
Personally I just don't like being dehydrated
@@Kylirr I understand but I think Matt spends too much time reviewing cup holders and storage spaces. I am pretty sure that this is not going to be a "key factor" for the majority of people who want to buy a car.
European cars don't have large cup holders.
The old Q3 looked dated as soon as it came out and it was impractical. This new one is a huge improvement. Well done Audi 👍🏻
Well done? They just managed to catch up with the competition.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I own an old model Q3 bronze in colour with chrome trim, and it looks fantastic 😎

This Q3 model is tons better than the previous generation. Might go for this model in the near future.
Great video as always Mat and Carwow team!
Another great video, love the way each video stsrts with "and it's a little bit like..."
The old Q3 was my least favourite Audi. This one is a vast improvement. I also like the new length of the carwow videos. Good job. 👍
Few things to point out.. the virtual cockpit is standard but if you want map display on it .. it is £250 option .. same is through load with arm rest in the back seat
@im cgl - Yes, and the recently published Audi UK online configurator for the Q3 is quite revealing - everything is an extra: eg the under seat pocket for the manual. But Mat didn't mention that BLIS (or Side Assist) is standard, about the only thing that is (like airbags, ABS, ESP, TPMS, DRLs - AEB & BLIS will probably be mandated soon on all cars!).
Jessie Mac yes, the side assist is standard and pretty handy. I went on a test drive few days ago. The auto felt slow to respond like how Matt points out and the whole 1.5 felt underpowered.. compared to the old 1.5 which I have .. mine is really punchy!
Not a fan of the current Q3 but this new one is surprisingly good. Nice one Audi.
Mat is special source of gentleman with his cars review !
Carwow is the only car reviewer that tests the door bins. 👍😂😎
12:29 I’d recommend paying extra for the start stop engine button.
Why?
Just do or don’t (don’t ask why).
Matt forgot to say that the Q range has an optional extra called the "Consideration" pack it enables the indicators, it costs £750 extra so most Q drivers don't take it.
i like mat, and his reviews, but why does he always point out “clever” things on audi’s to make them seems great, even though those things are found on so many other cars?
The Drive Modes include one called Individual.
Click on the box next to the word Individual and you get some extra options for the vehicle.
I always select the SPORT options there.
AND, you can shift the transmission to stay in a lower gear to keep the revs up. Move the shifter lever to the side and then up or down to select a gear.
For better performance
I think I’m glad I went for the Tiguan SEL. Much prefer the interior layout in the VW, and actually cheaper with better spec.
I got a Tiguan r-line last month, and I’m with you on that, the spec seams higher, and I can’t see the point of the extra cost with the Audi, and to be honest I’m starting to not see the point of the r-line over the SEL, Spec wise that is, the r-line dose look good,
The new Tiguan does not compete with the Q3 anymore, the Tiguan is far larger and seems more family oriented, Q3 is more of young people's crossover even though I see many seniors driving them in my country. I agree with you I would pick the Tiguan as well.
aerofly2 Tiguan def has better spec but the fit and finish of the Audi is better.
Operating those back seeds is like an entire work-out
Its always that restless shopping that gets me and folding the rear seats 🤣
That Audi badge changing colour is very cool
me: is he really going to wear that man bag the whole video?
Mat one second later: I think I'm gonna take this off
me talking to the screen: thanks mate
Hey Mat! Tried that "fun fact" about the A/C auto button on my VW Golf MK7 R and it worked there too even tohugh it has a separate sync button.
Please do head to head with X1.
Drag race - Tiguan, Ateca, Kodiaq, Q3..
I would love to hear Mat's pick between this Q3 and the X1, particularly driving dynamic.
Never been a fan of SUVs, more of a hatchback or estate person myself. But my wife loves the look of them, so test drove a Q3 s-line at the weekend out of curiosity. I’m sold - arrives next week!
I wasn't a big fan either but do to a knee injury decided that an SUV would be more beneficial.
Went to Audi just out of curiosity... salesman put me immediately in an Q3 and adjusted that seat for me. I was sold! Best thing was that the salesman sat in the passenger seat with his tablet and talked with me about the configurations for like a hour?
2 weeks later i got mine. Been driving it vor 3 years now and am reaching 100.000 km still runs like on the first day! And nobody but that one salesman touched the adjustment buttons of my seat! Not even my wife who's significantly shorter than I am!
New Q3 looks great. Would love to get behind the wheel next year!

Hey Mat, thanks for another great review! This is very informative, to the point, and funny as usual. Big thumbs up. You channel is the best I have found on the Tube, keep up the great work!!
Car looks good, don’t think it suits this colour though.
Totally agreed, it's not a sports car, so should have perhaps had shade more darker to give more premium feel
@A real petrol-head opinions are like buttholes everyone has one. I hope you have at least a little bit of brain to understand it
A real petrol-head only a peasant would say that. I own several luxury suvs from Porsche to Lexus. Own several sport sedans and luxury sedans from the E63S and the new S500, yet I never felt gay driving any of my SUV. I’ve driven from the Honda CR-V, HR-V, to Porsche Cayenne and Lexus RX and I never felt any sort of gayness. The only gayness I see is a pleb trying to look rich by insulting other people’s preferences.

Mat. Show us your car collection please!
Hi Matt.
When you are mentioning a quiet car, it will be worth measuring the decibel level with your phone or something.
So the viewer can have the idea, with comparing to other cars.
Does this car not have keyless go? Because putting the key in the ignition seems a bit old.
(EDIT 1 - This comment has been edited. A reply for the comments has been done. So please enjoy your time reading the replies. BTW I do not mind the ignition method but I do expect it at this price and at this level of luxury. Have a great day. Happy new year!)
(EDIT 2 - Thank you for the likes. I apprieciated it.)
Yash Does Gaming especially at this trim level
It's pointless
Getting your car stolen because keyless go can be hacked can get old too
Probably an option that can be chosen as some people don't like having a device that makes stealing your car easier.
Useless gadget.
The insert on the rear door are for the lock button in the US Spec q3
My favourite show in the TH-cam. !😀
Syncing temperatures left/right with the climate control.. that does exist for at least 15 years or so. My old 2003 A3 did it also.
Lovely looking car and very practical too, love the blue colour, be good if they done it in green in the standard Q3 like the RSQ3 👌👍
That 12.3 inch display is not an option atall. It's only standard on vorsprung models
I agree it looks better than the old one. But its just a much more expensive VW Tiguan and apart from the better virtual cockpit, I'd be surprised if side by side, the Audi was worth the extra price.
Here's a secret... it isn't. That said, the Q3 is not bad, the Tiguan is just that good.
Kenny G The Tiguan is lovely it just has a more plasticky interior
In the US we can only get the Tiguan in the largest (and slowest) size. Or the old Tiguan (sold as the "Limited" model) which hasn't been updated since 2012. So for me, the Q3 (once it finally gets here) will be the only choice from VAG that is reasonably sized for parking in the city. In fact, if you want a smaller AWD hatchback the only choice we get is the Golf R -- which is fine, but they are very limited in numbers and have no sun roof ...
Congratulations for 5 million subscribers
Mat, do a review of the new 508 fastback plz
I feel like they benchmarked the trim level and quality of the MINI Countryman/BMW X1, and very assiduously cut the same corners. It does still harken the A3, more than its bigger brothers.
Mat is my favorite. I love his videos. For the Q3... I look at it this way. It's essentially a Golf 7, with the center stack from the new Jetta, some low rent things you wouldn't find in a Golf (because Audi cuts the material cost to make more money), and it costs more than a Golf but probably isn't any more capable or practical than one. It's not going to drive as well as a GTI because Audi seemingly likes to dull everything down. These new compact luxury SUVs are a mystery to me why people really like them. I'd much rather have a Golf because it gets better fuel economy, drives sportier and costs less or if I needed an SUV I'd go for something larger and more practical. These small SUVs just seem pointless to me. And lastly, I hate hate hate Audi's terrible new naming scheme. Calling this 1.5T a 35TFSI is ridiculous.
GTI/Golf/Jetta don't have the ground clearance to comfortably navigate those crappy roads. In an accident with other tall vehicles, driver's safety is definitely a concern if you do care about your safety. There are just too many idiots around.
alan mail neither does the Q3. Its ground clearance is about the same as any sedan or hatchback. It’s just taller overall (barely).
aerodog2 Big and Q5? Q5 is small for an suv. Just get a Tiguan or T-Roc then. Or a Passat Alltrack, A4 Allroad, etc.
Mohammed Aso you can get AWD on a GOLF R, Tiguan, T-Roc, etc.
Mohammed Aso the Q3 only has 2” more ground clearance than a golf R. It’s not like it’s got 11” like a Land Rover Discovery or something. Anything you can do in your little Q3 you could do in a Golf R.
First Audi in a long time which has a design which looks very exciting and innovative. I can imagine other brands copying some elements of this design in next 2-3 years. You are right that the touch screen needs to be higher up and AC vents should be below it. Otherwise I guess the design is best in class.
Can you release the Peugeot 508 review please? Swear I saw that on your instagram weeks before you posted this.

VAG pampers the car journalists more..
For every car you review, you always say you should ‘shortlist’ it!!
I personally think you should ‘consider’ it if you can afford it! 😂
2:28 But where would you put those restless children after you put the seats down, hmm? Didn't think that one through.
Appreciate your thorough review. I was surprised to see the car doesn't have the levers in the back to drop the seats. Even more surprised it doesn't have a keyless start button. The Tiguan doesn't have it either. What gives VAG? Spent too much money on fines and DSG recalls?
exactly my point. IF you have to get your seats flat, that means you are packing your bike or doing IKEA. in both cases you have time to get seats flat, pack and secure your cargo. if you have to get your seats flat while taking care of restless kids, or having bags in another hand, that purely means your kidnap or heist went wrong.
The Tiguan has both of these as standard in my country
@@karimsalama5783 sadly not in the UK
If you will show ambient lighting of each car that you review I think you'll be the best in town....👌👌👌
Is the engine longitudinally mounted? Because the haldex system shouldn't be able to send 85% of the torque to the rear so it has to have the torsen based quattro. The old one definitely had the haldex tho.
It bothers me they call it Quattro, when being a haldex systen
@@hugos2475 Watch tests of the new Haldex system on the Tiguan and Arteon, it is better than the old Torsen diff lol
When he mentioned controlling the climate controls individually by pressing auto button my Audi b6 did that back in 2003
Cost cutting is *very* real with the new Audis. A1, Q3 even the new Q8 all feel very VW-like. I don't like the MQB platform at all.
The Q3 and Q8 are not VW like ...... seems like someone is binge watching to much youtube.
@@Squeezemycrackers Google how the MQB platform works. Most Seats, Skodas, VWs, Porsches, Audis and even Bentleys and Lamborghinis share a lot of parts. Go look at the new Touareg and tell me it does not remind you of the Q3 and Q8 interiors.
And here is a guess: when VW renews the Tiguan, it will look exactly like this on the inside.
lol that argument is ridiculous. Volkswagen makes great cars, Audi are essentially a whole different vehicle, I own a Tiguan and my sister has the Q3, the Audi drives better, is overall a more premium vehicle. The VW hate needs to stop since they are the number 1 car maker of the world. The MQB platform is groundbreaking, however if you think a Skoda looks like an Audi you pretty much know nothing of cars.
@@jpch8814 You are not getting what I am saying. I'm not saying the A1 is exactly the same car with a Polo. I'm saying they share a lot of components and panels inside and outside. MQB platform is somewhat groundbreaking since it is saving VW chest loads of gold. They just alter the quality of some parts depending on which brand of car it will go on and use it.
Of course the Audi is going to be more comfortable than a VW since VW spends more money on the Audi to produce it that way. This does not change the fact that they share most of their parts. Some of the cars share more or less 50% of their parts with other brands.
Here, check this video as well: th-cam.com/video/cWbaCVSJMsg/w-d-xo.html They don't even bother removing the VW logo before using it on SEATs or Skodas. There is nothing wrong with it, VW is saving money. The problem is the difference between each brand is getting smaller and smaller.
IMB2U Lol wut? They don't share a single panel. Have you looked at them? Besides, sharing components are really good because replacement parts are cheap and the manufacturer can put money into things that actually matter.
I'm not Brit , but man, your reviews are really good and I have to see your opinion before deciding a buy
Please review a Porsche Panamera 2019
Two things I never understand... A) I mean how much of a big deal is folding down the seats from the sides? It's like somthing you do maybe once a month for the average user? B) The isofix cover really isnt a deal breaker either, just put them in the storage nets?
I love your coat mat :)
I live that he says when lowering the seats "imagine having to do this with a bunch of restless children" where are they gonna sit? in the boot there’s no seats left 😂
Looking at these, anyone driven both the 35 tfsi and the 35 TDI and have any comments on the difference in power and drive? (The latter is quattro so no doubt heavier). Cheers
Somewhat taken aback at the price of the new Q3. You can get an A4 Avant for similar money and it’s roomier. It comes down to wagon v SUV and I’m not yet sold on SUVs.
Hi there, is there any chance you can do audi s5 vs mercedes AMG c43 comparison/ drag race.

This is the best car buying app I buoyed a audi q3 from here
Won't change the drivers!
It is time for a new generation as the outgoing Q3 was starting to show it ages in terms of the interior design the fact the switchgear borrowed from the previous A3.

Just over 3 minutes of this 18 minute review was spent on driving. The rest? On cup holders, storage areas and how to fold the seats. Autogefuhl is the place to be for proper car reviews.
Different reviews for different aspects of the car. The reality is for a q3 the driving experience is going to be lower down on the importance list
As someone who cares greatly about the interior design, function, build and finish of a car, Mat's reviews suit me perfectly. No point having a good driving experience if the interior design drives you up the wall.

It's a very nice SUV 😎
I guess it's because it's more nimble, agile. Audi also cares a lot about acoustic insulation, and finishing touches. BMW is definitely more radical.
Privilege*
On my second Audi and the complaint I have is the plastic gasket used between the joins of the major engine components is a plastic which is prone to failure. The repair for which is £2000 to £2500 and Audi won't recognise it as a recall. If you don't spot it you can trash and engine in weeks. Living with the Russian roulette of will this be the day the gasket fails, as it did on my first, has put me off the brand and I am going back to BMW. Audi need to step up on this fault in design.
Volvo xc40 for me ..
Aaron Mills Bit of a cheap feeling interior though..
The interior is a huge let down. This has many features an audi Q3 didn't have that wasn't explained in this video
Infotainment system is a joke in every volvo. It's like using symbian phone in 2018.
And the Volvo is waay overpriced and feels cheapish is some ways and it weighs way to much for being a small SUV. The Audi weighs like 300kg less wich gonna make a huge difference
@@SuperTobbe12 Yeah, it makes a huge difference in making the car less safe.
About rear seats folding - I have never got it & didn't like, that you & other reviewers talk about this function like it would be something important. I do not know anybody, who uses that often and I think in reality it is very rarely used. So this means, I do not think it is issue, if you can not fold seats from cargo area. As example, much more important & often used thing would be windshield washer tank & filling it, but I never saw any review talking about how easy that would be & how clearly is marked window washer gap from engine coolant gap and so on.
I use it every week to put my bike in the back when I go cycling.
15:41 mr.bean 🤣😂
Could someone explain to me the 'drama' of not having seats folding mechanism inside the boot? all these 'just stay with me' and 'oh you have to walk around' tortures... like, how often you are doing that? twice a year? while having an additional mechanism is adding more electric parts that could break (and weight itself).
Michal, the drama in this case, and a fact that Mat didn't mention, is that the VW Tiguan has seats that can be folded down from the boot, but the more expensive Q3 (which should have more features and is built on the exact same platform) does not. Also, it's fully mechanical, not electric.
@@chrwl007 thank you! Still would prefer to pay more for adaptive LED headlights than seats folding, but it's just my opinion ;)
